Baltimore introduced one of the strictest curfews last year. Yet there is little evidence that curfews reduce crime. 'Most juvenile crime occurs after school, not late at night,' admits Commander Mathew Murray of the Denver Police Department in Colorado. The rate of juvenile violence after school is five times than that in the standard curfew period. Curfews can be expensive to enforce and are often enforced unevenly" (Economist).
