What Private ADHD Titration Experts Want You To Learn
Private ADHD Titration

There is currently a nationwide shortage of medication that helps to treat ADHD symptoms. This is due both to manufacturing problems as well as an increase in demand worldwide.

Our service is private ADHD adjustment instead of waiting for NHS funding through Right to Choose. Our assessment fees cover the cost of one prescription.

Titration

A comprehensive assessment of your ADHD symptoms will be carried out by a highly experienced consultant psychiatrist. This will include an examination of your medical history as well as an assessment using the standard ADHD rating scales and questionnaires.

After your assessment After your assessment, you will be informed if medication would be beneficial for your situation. This will be discussed at your follow-up appointment (which can be done in person, via video link or by phone). Your clinician will discuss the various medication options available. If you decide to start taking medication, we can help you to titrate your dose to maximize the benefits/side effects balance for you.

I Am Psychiatry is a process which may take several weeks. It involves adjusting the dosage of your child's medication gradually until the appropriate balance is achieved. It's not uncommon to have to adjust up to three different medicines until you discover the one that best suits your child's ADHD. It is essential that parents participate in the titration process and be aware of their child's behavior so that they can let the doctors know if the medication is helping or causing adverse reactions.

If you decide to return to NHS treatment, you will receive a private prescription for your medication. You will have to pay for your prescription at the pharmacy. This is not included in the consultation fee. You must keep up with your appointments every six months to monitor your medications. This includes pulse and blood pressure measurements. Annual checks are also required.

Follow-up appointments

Once the evaluation has been completed, you will be able to make appointment with your psychiatrist, if necessary. Usually the appointment will take place through a video call using zoom, although in certain cases it may be possible to do an audio-only consultation (again at an additional cost).

At this point, we will discuss treatment options and agree upon a bespoke individualised ADHD medication titration plan. This will include an assessment of your medication dosage as well as a discussion of any possible adverse effects you may be experiencing. The titration sessions cost PS150 for face-to-face sessions, and PS60 via video or telephone consultation. The pharmacy will be charged for any medication costs.

The psychiatrist will also inquire with you about your family background and the impact your ADHD symptoms impact your life, as well as any relationship issues you might be facing or any other mental health issues you may be suffering from. ADHD can be a genetic condition, so it's important to examine your family background to determine if you're at a greater chance of developing this disorder.

During the assessment, it is vital that you are truthful and honest with the clinician in the sense that they will be using the information you provide to determine whether you have the diagnostic criteria for ADHD. This is a crucial step, as a wrong diagnosis could result in a prescription for medication that is not appropriate.

If you have decided that you would like to be treated for your ADHD, we will then arrange a follow up appointment with one of our psychiatrists that specialize in this field. This can be scheduled at the time of your diagnosis if you want to start treatment immediately, or within two weeks if would like more time to consider the implications of your diagnosis and the possibilities that are available to you.

If you're not sure which one you prefer it is recommended that you speak with your GP prior to booking your private appointment as certain providers have different rules regarding whether they require an GP referral letter or not. We also advise to check if your GP accepts a 'Shared Care Agreement which means that once you are discharged from the clinic you will be referred back to them for the prescription for the medication.

Medication

For many who wish to obtain an individual diagnosis of ADHD, medication is a key element of their treatment. It isn't easy to obtain a prescription from a psychiatrist on the NHS. NHS waiting lists are notoriously long, and GPs are often reluctant to refer patients on to specialist services.

Requesting your GP to refer through Right to Choose is one way to avoid this (see psychiatry UK and ADHD 360). This means that you can select one that provides an assessment and titration. This can help you to save time and also be more convenient, particularly when you are on a tight work schedule.

Once you've been recommended, your physician will assess you to determine if you need medication titration. You will be asked to fill in forms that vary by provider but the most important ones are self-report questionnaires as well as medical histories from childhood to adulthood. These forms will allow your doctor to determine if there are any factors that could mean you shouldn't take ADHD medications, when they've been prescribed.

If you are being titrated the medication will consist of stimulants and non-stimulant drugs. The combination will be carefully tested and monitored to determine the most suitable combination for you, taking into account any current conditions you suffer from. The process of titration can be lengthy and may need some additional appointments before you're stable on your dose.

Depending on the kind of medication you're taking, follow-up appointments could be scheduled monthly or quarterly. Your clinician will check whether you are stable on the medication, document any side effects you've experienced and make any needed adjustments to ensure that you remain on a dose that is safe. You are required to attend an annual health check-up and regular health check-up that includes pulse, blood pressure, and weight measurements.

Some people might be satisfied with their medication, and don't need to discuss their titration further. If you're looking to discuss your titration or treatment plan in more detail, it is possible that you'll be sent back to the private doctor who made your initial assessment. In this instance the titration is included in the consultation cost. The medication will be given via an individual prescription. It could cost more than an NHS prescription as the pharmacy will charge for the medication.
