Replace Nissan Key Fob Batteries
If your Nissan key fob isn't responding properly to your commands, it's a sign that the battery is dead. It's an easy fix that most people can fix themselves.
To replace the battery you can either get the new battery from a hardware store or consult your owner's guide for the model you have.
Change the battery
The key fob on your Nissan model comes with a built-in battery that eventually loses its charge. Luckily, changing the key fob battery is a simple process that only takes some minutes to complete. You'll first need to purchase the CR2032 battery. It's a small coin cell battery that is found in the majority of key fobs. It is available at most convenience stores. You will also need a pair of gloves (latex or non-latex) and small screwdrivers with flat heads to open the fob. Read the owner's manual for detailed instructions and steps before starting.
Flip the fob upside-down and look at the backside. You will see a small catch that you need to release by pulling it down. This will release the mechanical key from the original position inside the fob.
Next, insert the new battery and make sure it is oriented correctly. Close replacement nissan keys once the battery is installed and then press the two sides of the fob together. After completing this final step, test your key fob by pressing the unlock button and seeing what happens. If everything is in good and in good working order, you're ready to enjoy the Nissan's features. After changing the battery it's a good idea to reset your key fob to ensure that it functions properly.
Replacing the Transmitter
Your key fob is the "key" for the majority of your vehicle's vital functions. It could be a devastating blow should it become damaged or lost. A damaged or malfunctioning key fob will stop you from locking and starting your vehicle.
It's smart to keep a spare key fob on reserve in case of emergency. Fortunately, the process for replacing your Nissan key fob is easy. You'll need a brand new battery and a small screwdriver to remove the old one however, the replacement process is very easy and should only take only a few minutes.
You'll require an oval Panasonic CR 2032 3V battery (you can typically find them in multipacks, for less than $5 USD). The battery is in the back part of the key fob. You'll require a small screwdriver with a flat head to gently separate the two halves. Utilize a flathead screwdriver and smaller flatheads to unbolt the clip on the top of the battery. Be sure to note the location. Replace the battery and put the key fob back together. You can test it to ensure that it works as intended.
Like any electronic device, like all electronic devices, your Nissan Intelligent Key will eventually wear out from regular usage and require to be replaced. Protect your key fob against magnetic fields, water, and physical impacts. Don't drop it or apply too much pressure to the device.
Replace the Key
If your Nissan key fob is lost in the middle, you won't be able to use it to unlock your vehicle or start it. That's a problem for people who have to go to work in Detroit or to run errands near Dearborn, or have an evening on the town close to Troy.
It's not too difficult to replace the battery in your Nissan Smart Key. You can replace the battery at home or at the dealership. The cost of a replacement pack is usually less than $5.
Flip the fob back over and push the small catch on the back. This will open the emergency mechanical key inside. Although you won't be able to use the emergency key to start your vehicle however, it will allow you to open the door.
Look for a small opening on the top of the casing. You can use a screwdriver or a plier to break apart the two pieces of the key fob. Once you've access to the internal battery, pull it out and make note of its positioning. When you're ready to reassemble the key fob, place the new battery into its spot and then snap the two pieces of the case. Insert the mechanical key and your Nissan smartkey will function as normal.
Other Issues
Many modern cars are fitted with key fobs which allow the user to lock and start them without the need for the physical car key. Key fobs use a transmitter to connect to the computer system in the car.
If your Nissan key fob stops working after you replace the battery it could be due to several reasons for this. One possibility is that the new battery wasn't properly fitted into the key fob. A reset of the key fob is another possibility. This is a simple process that you can complete at home with just a few tools.
You'll require, for instance an electric screwdriver with flat-headed tips to remove the old battery from the key fob. Then, you'll need an open-ended screwdriver the back of the key fob and insert the new battery. It is also necessary to reprogramme your key fob in order to allow it to function with your vehicle.
Fortunately, most Nissan key fobs can be programmed, so you can easily accomplish this yourself. This is usually accomplished by inserting the keyfob in the ignition twice within five seconds. If this does not work, bring your key fob to an auto locksmith to get it programmed. Costs will vary based on the person you call and the kind of vehicle you own.
