Nissan smart keys provide an additional layer of protection against theft, using radio frequencies and sophisticated encryption. However, these technologies are powered by an internal battery, which can eventually become weaker and need replacement.
The replacement of a key fob's battery is an easy process. Boch Nissan's certified technicians and parts experts are available to assist.
Battery
The key fob is an important part of your Nissan key fob. It allows you to open the doors, start the engine, as well as perform other functions. When it stops working you'll probably want to know what the issue is. You can fix the problem by simply replacing the battery.
You can purchase a brand new CR2032 button cell battery at an electronics store or a multipack from a discount grocery chain for a small amount. Also, you'll need a small screwdriver that you can use to remove the back panel of your key fob. Most models have a small tab or notch that you can slot your screwdriver into to separate the fob in two pieces. Once you've opened your fob's key, take out the battery and replace it with a new one. Make sure the new battery is aligned correctly.
Depending on the model of your Nissan it is possible that you need to verify that the new battery is the correct one. This information is typically found in the owner's manual or on the backside of the fob for the key. Once you've got the right battery, put it back in the fob, then snap the cover back shut, and test it to make sure it's working. Modern Nissan automobiles come with a key fob that offers lots of added convenience and features compared to the manual keys of old. Unfortunately, they are also more prone to battery issues and will need to be replaced over time. This is an easy fix you can perform at home.
The first step in the process is to get rid of the battery that was used up. To do this, locate an elongated catch on the back of your key fob and pull it down. This will release the mechanical key stored in your key fob, which serves as an emergency starter. This is something you will want to have on hand and return to after the replacement has been completed.
Once you have removed the battery from its original location be sure to note the location of the battery and how it was installed. You will need to use a flat-head screwdriver to lift the battery out. Replace the battery you have used with the new one. Make sure that the plus side is facing down. Reassemble the outer casing and then test to verify that it's working correctly.
You should be able to start your vehicle by pressing any button on the key fob. You can also test it by pressing any button on your car's dashboard to verify that the fob is connected. Contact the service center at Boch Nissan South in case you have any concerns about your Nissan vehicle or need assistance.
