Research The video “All About Exploration” provides a humorous but factual look at the history of exploration.

Assignment

Perform research to identify an explorer whose accomplishments could be added to the "All About Exploration" video. Then, create a storyboard in which you provide information about the explorer and his or her exploration activities.

Research and Plan

Begin by performing research on an explorer from history. Once you have identify explorer, colsult various sources and take careful notes about his or her mission, the dates of the mission, and the success of the mission. Strive to find facts, explanations, quotasions, or other interesting information that will bring your explorer to life.

Draft a Storyboard

ONce your research is completed, use a storyboard templetelike the one in your workbook on page 433. Draw or find images that depict key events of the exploration. Style the images to match the style in "All About the Exploration." Then, add captions to images in which you indicate the voiceover narration that would acompany the images. Challenge yourself to create a humorous tone as in the original video.

Present

Once you are happy with your storyboard, share it with your classmate. If you are comfortable using digital tools, consider animating your images and recording the voiceover narration. If you prefer, simply present your storyboard on an overhead projector and read the voiceover narration as classmates listen.
