Не считаю Telegram ни свободным ни безопасносным.
Аргументы:
1) закрытый исходный код серверов.
2) несоответствие реального кода клиента и опубликованного
3) Привязка к номеру телефона
4) Отсутствие сквозного шифрования во всех чатах кроме "секретных"
5) Хранение сообщений из "секретных" чатов на серверах, вопреки рассказам о не хранени (Работает оффлайн доставка)
6) Трэкеры Google в мобильном клиенте Telegram
7) централизация всего сервиса на Дуровских серверах, без права выбора
8) Даже в "секретных" чатах нет защиты методанных от администрации Telegram (админы телеги видят кто с кем и как часто общается)
9) Нет ротации ключей шифрования в "сикретных" чатах
10) нахождение в реестре ОРИ и подозрительная разблокировка сервиса
11) Сбор местоположения и списка каналов ради персональной рекламы
