Counter Strike New Revealed
After weeks of rumors, Valve has finally announced Counter Strike new. It's a major upgrade to CS:GO which will bring it onto the Source 2 engine.
It also introduces responsive smoke grenades as well as sub-tick updates for servers. It's made a lot armchair gamers go crazy however, it appears to be an upgrade for the average player.
Smokes
Counter Strike New is getting an overhaul that will completely change the method of using smokes in the game. These changes are being dubbed as responsive smokes and are a huge game changer. Smokes will expand to fill in spaces and move around objects on the map. They will also respond to the lighting in the games, making them appear more real. Smokes will also be able to interact with game events. This will open up new tactical possibilities. Bullets, for instance will push smoke in order to temporarily clear sightlines. Hex grenade blasts can also disperse smoke and occlusion.
The biggest change to smokes is that they will now become a more active part of the game. Smokes in earlier versions were a fixed-shaped object with a limited ability to move and blocking. The new smokes will fill the space in which they are located and make it harder for players to see vision when they are present. This is a significant improvement that will make the game more exciting and will give both teams the same level of visibility.
Additionally smokes are now able to react to the environment as well as weaponry and lighting in the world. counter-strike cases will make smoke more realistic and give players to use it to gain an advantage over their opponents. This will be especially useful in the chaotic matches that will take place on every map.
Smokes will also no longer be one-way which was a major problem in CS:GO and allowed players to see their opponent's location from behind the smoke. Twistzz, a popular CS:GO pro, says that the new system is a huge improvement for players in competitive CS2 and makes it more fair for both teams.
Other minor improvements include moving smoke particles vertically to reduce the impact of edges, and updating spectators smoke overlays to ensure that they match their camera's position. The expiration of smokes was changed to match the visuals displayed on screen.
Loadouts
CS: GO players are now able to modify their weapon selection prior to the start of each game. The new loadout system allows players to select weapons that fit their style of play and team's strategy. The new system also adds new tactical depth to the game since players must be able to balance firepower and utility.
The CS: GO Update includes several other enhancements and changes in addition to the new loadouts. The buy menu was completely redesigned. The old buy wheel has been replaced by a customizable grid that shows all options for purchase simultaneously. The grid has been populated with five pistols as well as five "mid-tier" weapons such as submachine guns and shotguns, and five rifles and carbines.
The new system will be easy to use, and give players more control over their weapon choice. It will allow them to select the weapons which best suit their style of play, team strategy and experiment with various combinations. They can also compare their gear against other players to see how they compare.
While many players appreciate the added flexibility, others have complained about it deviating from the essence of Counter-Strike. They also expressed concern about how it could affect map-specific loadsouts and agent's skins that are based on visibility.
Despite these concerns however, it is important to keep in mind that the new loadout system is in its early stages and will go through more thorough testing over the next few months. It is possible that certain issues could be addressed in future updates, so it is vital to keep an eye out for further information.
Workshop Tools are also included in the update, and can be enabled from the settings menu. This allows community contributors to design weapons finishes and stickers as also maps. The update will also live ban players who violate the VAC rules in matches.
The new CS GO update will be released in the middle of summer. Players can look over the complete list of features and updates by visiting the official CS: GO website.
Sub-Tick Updates
The world of Counter-Strike is constantly updated by the server in discrete intervals of time called ticks. Valve wants to ensure that CS: GO is fast and smooth. Even the tiniest delay can impact the accuracy of a shot. A new video reveals the biggest improvements to the game, also known as sub tick updates.
Rather than a 64-tick update every millisecond, the CS: GO will now be able to make use of sub-ticks (or as Valve calls them, "micro-ticks") to communicate with the server. The client will take note of each of these tiny increments and transmit them to the server. The server will send the updated game state back to players. The servers will know the moment you fired a shot, jumped, or peeked.
While a one-minute video is not enough to explain everything the video explains that every piece of data sent by a client has an associated time stamp, and that the server will gather all data from all players in chronological order before sending it back. According to the video, a CS: GO server will be able to send up to twice as much information as a 64-tick server.
This means that even when the tick rate of the game increased to 128 Hz, it will still be able to handle your commands instantly. Micro-tick updates also decrease input lag by making sure that the server responds to your actions without any delays or glitches.
It's evident that this is just the beginning of the technological enhancements Valve is making to the game. Valve uses particles and smoke that are dynamic to enhance the way smoke interacts with its surroundings. It's also updating all maps with high-resolution lighting, textures and models. Source 2 tools and features will be used to update all CS cosmetics and weapons.
Maps
The next update for Counter Strike New brings new maps and a few classics with facelifts. These updates are currently being tested in a limited-test beta. The first set includes upgrade and touchstone maps which will not undergo major changes in gameplay, whereas other maps have been revamped or rebuilt using the brand new Source 2 Tools.
Overpass is one of these maps that was modified to take advantage the new engine's unified lighting system. The underpass on the map's dark and eerie scene has been filled with daylight, making the space more spacious and less congested. In addition smoke grenades now expand dynamically to fill in spaces and interact with the new light.
Another map that's been reworked is Italy, which has received major changes to texture lighting, structure and texture. The new version is more balanced than its predecessor that was heavily CT-oriented. In the near future, fans can expect to see classics like Aztec and Militia updated.
These maps will not be added to the map pool for competitive play despite the fact that they are still playable. Train is the exception, as it has been removed from Active Duty but will still be played in tournaments. Valve hasn't yet decided whether the other maps that were removed from the pool will be reintroduced.
Helsingin Sanomat is the national newspaper of Finland. The change has been criticized as controversial. The newspaper has been vocal in its criticism of Russia's actions in Ukraine and the map draws inspiration from the city that was devastated by war in Donetsk. The map is dubbed de_voyna and contains numerous references to the conflict.
The developer will release a set Source 2 Tools for map makers in the future. This will include features such as improved lighting and character read, as well as physically-based rendering that produces realistic materials, textures and reflections. It will also make real-world objects like doors and windows, more simple to use. The update will be available sometime in the summer.
