King Kong 89
As the most iconic of all movie monsters King Kong is an enduring icon in pop culture. He has inspired sequels, remakes, spin-offs, imitators, parodies, cartoons, books, comics, theme park rides, video games and even a Broadway play. Despite being one of the most powerful creatures in the world he has been portrayed as both heroic and tragic. Often he is depicted as a protector of the natural world, while other times as a destructive monster. He has crossed over into other franchises, such as Planet of the Apes, and he has even encountered the pulp heroes Doc Savage and Tarzan.

The original 1933 film is considered a classic and for good reason. It is epic in scope, the special effects are state of the art for its time and it features a memorable performance from Fay Wray.

It is easy to criticize this film, especially by today’s standards, but I think it holds up pretty well overall. It has a lot of filler but the main action scenes are really exciting and well done. I also think the story is pretty good and it is a good movie that entertains.

The 2005 version is a remake of the 1933 film and is directed by Peter Jackson. It is an ambitious film that attempts to blend all the seventh art styles and it succeeds in many ways. I think that the film could have been a little shorter but it does deliver the goods when it comes to excitement and special effects.

This version of the film also has a very memorable performance from Naomi Watts as Kong’s female companion. She is an excellent actress and she does a great job in this role. The film does have some problems, such as the racial overtones and the stereotypical portrayal of the island natives. But overall, this is a great film and one of the best movies ever made about a giant gorilla.

To tie in with the movie, a series of books were published by Pocket Books. These included a novelization written by Christopher Golden and a non-fiction book entitled King Kong: The Island of Skull Island. In addition, there were several illustrated juvenile books: Kong and Ann, Escape from Skull Island and The Search for Kong. kingkong89 released a collection of concept art from the film.
