For those of you who don't follow Steve Saxton on Facebook or get text updates from him, I thought I'd share his latest news with you.
"Yesterday I had an issue with my triple lumen PICC in that is was plugged. The vascular team worked all day in an attempt to get it functioning but finally decided to remove it and replace it with a single lumen PICC in the other arm. Everything is working well now
In addition, the second half results of my original bone marrow biopsy were received which indicated there is a, genetic/DNA irregularity. Results indicate that with my age and these indicators, there is an increased risk of a re-occurrence of the leukemia. So the oncology team is recommending a bone marrow transplant. Needless to say it took our breathe away. After much consideration and prayer, I have decided to proceed with the transplant. Now there are many details involved which there too much to explain in a note.
I am still at the U of M hospital and the proposed departure is anywhere from this Saturday to next Tuesday. Just depends on my blood cell counts.
I have so much to Thankful for this year. I hope you and your families and a great time in celebration and make some memories as well.
