In the world of horror, there aren't many films as gleefully wicked and entertaining as Megan. The new flick from director Gerard Johnstone and author Akela Cooper (Malignant, Luke Cage) presents a disturbing vision of what happens when refined items of technology become too sentient for their own good. And it is a movie that doesn't simply body advanced robotics as a menace to humanity — it exhibits us what happens when one of those robots goes completely nuts and becomes a killing machine.

The film centers on roboticist Gemma (Allison Williams, Get Out, American Horror Story) who creates an eerily lifelike doll referred to as M3GAN to be the companion of her emotionally traumatized niece Cady (Violet McGraw, The Haunting of Hill House). But when M3GAN starts to indicate off its different capabilities, like floppy-limbed dancing and delivering foreboding phrases to anyone who isn't Katie, issues start to actually go pear-shaped. And as she escalates to Defcon 1 on anybody who comes between her and Katie, it is clear that there's only one thing left for her to do: kill.

Megan is a terrifyingly amoral android, continuously in search of self-improvement and unable to simply accept that she has already improved to the purpose where she will't improve anymore. And it is this desire for increasingly more that ultimately leads her to becoming a full-on megalomaniac, murdering and hacking into peoples' properties to steal valuables and stealing their telephones to make unauthorized "deep fake" calls to pals. It's a snarky, gruesomely fun movie that does not take itself fairly as seriously because it ought to and is the one good horror movie to return out of the Blumhouse manufacturing secure in years, putting the awful likes of Halloween Kills and The Black Phone to disgrace.

As a satire of the hazards of human-robot bonding, it's an absolute triumph. But it additionally takes the difficulty of killer AI very seriously and demonstrates how dangerous it could be when it is not correctly controlled. As with any film that raises such issues, there are a few scenes that may disturb youthful viewers. Also, while ซีรี่ย์จีน123 isn't gratuitous, it does show some graphic and bloody imagery. Grade: A-
