- You will have a good idea what your pup will be like when he grows up
- A mixed breed pup cannot be as easily pegged
- Humans selectively bred dogs that were best suited for the various roles required of them, based on their fitness, ability and utility.
- Selecting the dogs we want to breed offers incredible advantages over letting Mother Nature follow its course. These advantages are self for some but others are mainly for the dog’s sake (usually health-related benefits.)
- Advantages of selective dog breeding include the specialization of dog breeds, the creation of dog breeds with specific characteristics, the existence of excellent bloodlines within breeds, and the ability to remove undesired traits

This means that breeders can produce dogs with specific physical or behavioral traits that are desirable to their owners.(for example, if a breeder wants to produce a dog that is good with children, they can selectively breed two dogs with that same trait to produce offspring with the same characteristics)

- Consistency is important for dog shows, where dogs are judged on their physical appearance and behavior. A dog that consistently meets the breed standards is more likely to win awards and accolades.
