Lot Of Four Vintage Aqua Dwight Pattern Beehive Glass Insulators #5234 For Sale
A lot of numbers are found on the prime of Brookfield glass insulators and these are believed to be what are called “Shop numbers”. There have been a quantity of “shops” operating simultaneously at the factory. It is in the threaded insulators of these moulds that we obtain an odd feature that continues to the later days of the Burlington Glass . It is a fine pattern of lines that go about just above the wire groove. This was a roller that was utilised inside the mould on the lathe to harden the mould by compressing the iron at the wire groove so it would be significantly less probably to chip.

Also, a very rare type of fruit jar embossed “Brookfield/55/Fulton St/N.Y.” is identified, but only a extremely handful of examples have been discovered by collectors. suspension insulators There have been no red insulators, so if you see one particular it is a fake. Please email me a photo (my e-mail address is listed at the lower right-hand corner of any page on this website) so I can determine it for you. The unusual colors like amber, olive green, cobalt, blue green are additional collectible, and the most uncommon are mixed colors or Vaseline glass insulators. Millions of these forms of “generic” non-returnable soda bottles have been created for lots of years. Here, as embossed on the base of a little cobalt blue Bromo-Seltzer bottle.

James M. Brookfield purchased the Bushwick glassworks from Kalbfleisch in approximately 1869. In later years his son , and later, grandsons, sooner or later would come to be involved with the operation of the firm. Whilst I attempt to only put forward factual information in these posts , on this mould there is only circumstantial thoughts that bring this with each other . The following embossing have been removed from the cost guide simply because they could not be verified to exist. They are preserved right here for historical purposes in case they do show up in the future. If the value in this column says WANTED, then that distinct insulator is on my wanted list!

Cd 126 W Brookfield Skeb

Brian, several distinct styles of Brookfield insulators had been produced with this sort of “shop letter” marking on the top rated. Please e mail me a photo (my email address is listed at the reduced correct-hand corner of any web page on this web site) so I can recognize it for you. The most regularly discovered forms would be the CD 121 and CD 102 styles. The earlier Christian Dorflinger firm supposedly started back in the early 1850s and I don’t believe that was even the same firm at all………..just a comparable name.

Christian is displaying the colors far more probably to be noticed in Hemingray insulators, but there are other MINOR shades of color that are challenging to define which are not shown. In my opinion there are essentially as several distinct shades of green identified in Hemingray insulators , or even far more, as there are in Brookfields, but some of those shades are a lot harder to uncover in Hemingrays. May I ask what “Distinct colour guide” for Hemingrays you are referring to?

Brief History Of Glass Insulators

I would recommend you take some of your insulators to an insulator and/or antique bottle show and ask a quantity of dealers and collectors there to “name the color”….. Just to see what type of answers you will get!! Your insulator is not common, but not that uncommon either. It is listed as index beneath the CD 152 “BROOKFIELD” listings in the price tag guide.

During the 1870s, Brookfield started producing substantial amounts of insulators at their Brooklyn plant, and the quantity of insulators developed was second only to the Hemingray Glass Company. It is estimated that over one hundred forms of insulators were produced by Brookfield. In 1906, a second plant was opened in Old Bridge, New Jersey. The Brooklyn plant was closed shortly just after in 1912.
