Every single country and nation has environmental issues I`ll will describing and comparing environmental issues in Latin America, Europe, and Canada.
Environmental Issues in Latin America
There are several environmental issues affecting Latin America. What environmental issues are there in Latin America? The environmental issues affecting Latin America are air pollution, acid rain, deforestation, and oil-relating pollution. First let’s start with air pollution in Mexico City. Mexico City `s high elevation means that there are less oxygen, so fuels do not completely burn. What causes air pollution? The air pollution is cause by overcrowding, industrialization, vehicle emissions, and location at the base of the mountains which trap emissions producing a heavy overlay of smog. The major environmental concerns surrounding air pollution in Mexico City, Mexico, such as damage to vegetation, harm to the atmosphere, and harm to human beings. What is the impact of the air pollution in Mexico? Incomplete of fuels contributes to higher levels of gases such as carbon monoxide, ozone, sulfur dioxide, and nitrogen oxides-pollutants that harm eyes, lungs, and the heart. In addition, these gases, along with chemicals from factories, mix with water droplets in clouds and fall as acid rain. To reduce all this air pollution, the city promotes public transportation such as subways and buses that run on cleaner burning fuels. Next the deforestation of the Amazon Forest in Brazil. The Amazon Forest in Brazil is often called “the lungs of the world”. In recent years tracts of the Amazon have been cut down and burned down this causes the release of huge amounts of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere. What is the impact of the deforestation of the Amazon Forest? When large areas of forest are destroyed, animals and plants lose their habitat. The loss of habitat can contribute to the issue of global warming. Global warming is the gradual rise of the average the temperature of Earth`s atmosphere. It is cause by an increased level of the gas carbon dioxide, as well as other pollutants. Last of pollution in Venezuela. Oil-related pollution is Venezuela`s main environmental issue because selling money is the main income of Venezuela. What is the impact does this have on Venezuela? One of Latin America`s largest lakes, Lake Maracaibo, is polluted, as it the coast along the Caribbean Sea. This motivates to keep to producing, selling, and burning oil and polluting. The oil may get into stream and rivers which is harm for the animals and humans in the area who drink this water. The contaminated water evaporates and precipitations as acid rain.
Environmental Issues in Europe
Currently there are three main environmental issues affecting Europe which are acid rain in Germany, air pollution in the UK, and the nuclear explosion in Chernobyl, Ukraine. As I stated acid rain is a major concern in Germany and causes a myriad or a great number of environmental issues such as damage to vegetation and aquatic life, contamination of drinking water and physical structures as buildings and monuments. Sulfur deposits from Germany have become a problem to neighboring countries when they are carried through the air causing acid rain in those countries. The European Union (EU) continues to put in place environmental protection policies to meet their elimination goals. Next the air pollution in the UK. Most air pollution in the UK, stems from industry and power generation, and vehicle emissions. Similar to Germany, air pollution in the UK, are issues such as damage to vegetation, harm to the atmosphere, and harm to human beings. Air pollution in the UK is carried to nearby countries potentially causing acid rain in those countries. The EU is also working to meet the goal eliminating air pollution. Finally, the nuclear disaster in Chernobyl, Ukraine. The 1986 accident at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant in Ukraine, is the only accident in the history of nuclear power to cause fatalities from radiation. It was the product of a severely flawed Soviet-era reactor design combined with human error. This nuclear disaster had far reaching and lasting consequences such as land evacuation, and contamination, economic impact on East and North European farmers, and the health issues like high rates of cancers, birth defects and sadly in some causes death. This is just an example of dangerous chemicals are to us and our world.
Environmental Issues in Canada
Finally Environmental issues in Canada a topic we haven`t reached so I really to research instead of just using my notes. What environmental currently affect Canada? Canada faces a number of environmental issues. It has many natural resources that can be used for its people and for trade with other countries. The country must find ways to carefully manage both types of resources so that the environment is not damaged. Some of the environmental issues that concern Canada are acid rain, the pollution of the Great Lakes, extraction and use of natural resources on the Canadian Shield and the loss of timber.
Factories and automobiles produce many pollutants. Pollutants, such as Sulfur dioxide, carbon dioxide, and nitrogen oxides are put into the air. When these pollutants are put into the air, they mix with the water molecules and turn the water acidic. Clouds or rain droplets that are acidic are called acid rain. Acid rain causes many problems in the environment like kill plants, damages or kills trees, and pollutes lakes and rivers enough to kill fish. Canada has passed laws to limit pollution. The government has worked with factory owners to build factories that do not pollute the air. Lakes have been passed requiring automobiles to produce less pollution. The government also encourages Canadians to walk, ride bikes, or take the bus instead of driving their cars. Canada cannot solve this problem alone, 50-75% of the pollution in southern Canada comes from the United States. Fun Fact: Instead of having gallons of milk Canadians have bags of milk.
Industries and people in Canada depend upon the water from the Great Lakes. They use the water to drink. The Great Lakes are shared between the United States and Canada, it is important for the two counties to work together to keep the lakes clean. By the 1970s, the Great Lakes were becoming well known for their water pollution. In some places, fishing was unsafe, in other places, there were not fish alive! The factories around the Great Lakes had been using the lakes as their inexpensive dumping grounds. The Great Lakes Water Quality Agreement between the US and Canada is working on restoring the lakes' environment and prevent further damage.
The Canadian Shield is a large area of uplands surrounding Hudson Bay. This region covers most of the Eastern half of Canada. The soil in the region is thin and rocky, but beneath the soil is one of Canada's most valuable resources-minerals. The mines in this region produce are gold, silver, copper, zinc, lead, iron ore, uranium, and nickel. About 1.5 million people make their living in the mining industry in Canada. But mining can be messy work! The land around mines can be damaged and the environment ruined. During the mining process, Sulfur Dioxide can be put into the air, producing acid rain and killing nearby vegetation and lake animals.
Canada's forests cover almost half the land. Canadians have made this natural resource important to the economy. Loggers cut the trees and then send them to mills. These mills use the timber to make a variety of products including lumber, plywood, and wood pulp for making many kinds of paper.

Citizens in Canada are concerned that logging will destroy the forest and the benefits that it brings. The Forests serve a very important role such has animals and plants depend on the forest to live, provides oxygen to the atmosphere, filter out pollutants in air, serves as homes for wildlife, and areas for human recreation. Some of the concerns that Canadians have are deforestation, reduced water quality, erosion, and loss of wildlife

Acid Rain in Latin America and Canada
There are numerous similar environmental issues that both Latin America and Canada one of them is acid rain. Acid rain is rain mixed with pollutants in the air. So that means both countries have air pollution. The most air pollution in Latin America comes from Mexico. This is causes by overcrowding, industrialization, vehicle emissions, and location at the base of the mountains which trap emissions producing a heavy overlay of smog. The most acid rain in Canada is in the eastern part. The acid rain in Latin America and Canada are all a result of pollution. The acid rain are both dangerous to water and animals in the area.
Deforestation in Latin America and Canada
Deforestation is the cutting down of trees. Deforestation in Latin America is happens in Brazil. Tracts upon tract of the Amazon are being cut and burned.

Question 6: Describe, using various sources, important contemporary issues in Canada.
There were many issues in Canada and some are still currently going on. Some contemporary issues in Canada are environment issues and Quebec Independence Movement. There are several environmental issues that currently going on. I have already gone over the environmental issues in Canada which are acid rain, the pollution of the Great Lakes, extraction and use of natural resources on the Canadian Shield and the loss of timber. So that leaves me to explain what the Quebec Independence Movement is. According to an article, the Quebec Independence Movement is a result of Francophones wanting to vote against the Canadian government to make Quebec an independent country. The reason for this Francophones as known as separatists want to keep the culture and language alive. Separatists have voted twice but lost due to being outvoted. These two contemporary issues are so similar. The location of Quebec is the main reason why Canada can`t let Quebec go. Quebec contributes greatly to Canada`s economy. Quebec has thriving high-tech industries, abundant natural resources, and a major trading shipping channel along the St. Lawrence River. Canada tried to meet the separatists’ needs. In 1988, the government passed the Canadian Multicultural Act, guaranteeing all Canadians the right to preserve their cultural heritage. In 1988, Canada`s Supreme Court ruled that Quebec could not secede without the rest of the country`s consent.
