Friday (Movie Review) of flicks
After a string of films during which the hood was depicted as an endlessly bleak and scary place, Friday provided a refreshing take on avenue life with laughs as a substitute of tragedy. It marks the screenwriting debut of rapper Ice Cube and DJ Pooh, and in addition the feature directing debut of F. Gary Gray, who went on to make a number of music videos and more films. Though a little too long and vulnerable to stale jokes, the movie entertains due to its gifted solid.
