How to Spot an Authentic Prada Bag
Prada bags are characterized by their sleek, modernist lines and elegance. Made from unique materials, these bags are made entirely in-house.
To identify authentic Prada bag Look for the brand mark on the lining inside. It should be stitched with two to three lines, comprising PRADA and MILANO.
Brand Stamp
Prada is renowned for its sleek and minimal silhouettes however, the brand likes to add a touch of a glam. The Cleo is a prime example. It is a satchel that first came into the Multiple Views spring/summer 2021 collection (a year prior to when Raf Simons was named co-creative director). This bag boasts curved lines that seem to bounce with energy and is available in a variety colorways--including inky black, milky whites, and powdery pistachio. This version of the Cleo bag is constructed of light spazzolato leather as well as smooth calfskin brushed, which gives it a softer sheen than patent leather. If you want something more exciting then a bejeweled Cleo is available.
Authentic Prada bags come with a logo or tag inside, based on the design. On older styles, this will feature three lines that say 'PRADA MILANO MADE IN ITALY,' while newer styles will include two lines that say "Made in Italy'. This logo is embossed onto the outside of bags with linings made of fabric, and may be stitched onto the leather patch for small bags or non-leather styles.
This tag should always match the color of the interior liner. If it does not it is a major red flag. The tag should not be made of plastic or cloth.
On the back of authentic Prada zippers, you'll find the name of the company’s five zipper manufacturers. Check to see if this information is on the bottom of your pullers. Fake zippers are typically smaller and wider, with cutouts which don't align with the slide of your zipper.
Triangle Logo Plaque
The plaque is attached to the bag using a a secure fastening. It has four lines, including the brand name as well as the city of origin (Milano) and the coat of arms. The plaque is securely fastened to the bag. If it is not center or it is raised it's a sign of a fake. A genuine logo should have rounded corners, not square ones.
The interior of the genuine Prada bag is made of embossed jacquard or leather. The fabric lining should have the logo design or rope chain lines printed on it. The lines will alternate in the beginning, with the first line printed in a vertical orientation and then the roping chain line upside down. A real lining will also have a small square which is stitched into the pouch's interior. The square is a reference to the place where the bag was produced.
A genuine Prada bag comes with a dust bag and product card. Click Home is a black piece paper with a sales label attached, has more details about the bag than the label on the bottom of the bag. The card could contain the bag's serial or barcode that can be used to access more details on the Prada website.
Examining the hardware is another method to confirm the authenticity of the Prada bag. The clasps, zippers and feet of the bag must be made from gold or silver. If they're not, it's an indication that the bag is not authentic. Check that the metal hardware has the Prada logo embossed on it. The zippers should be smooth and not snag. The company uses different zipper manufacturers over time which include LAMPO, YKK and Riri Make certain to know which one your bag has.
Interior Logo Plaque
Authentic Prada bags are fitted with either a ceramic or leather plaque inside, which displays three or two lines of text. The words must match the color of the bag lining. If the tag has only three or two numbers, or is printed in black, it is not a genuine bag. Prada has white labels with brand markings that is also referred to as a factory tag or an assurance tag. It will bear an identifier that is different between Prada and Milano and may also say MADE IN ITALY. If you do not see this tag on the bag it could be a fake.
If you find the logo plaque on bags is made of plastic or fabric instead of leather, it may be a counterfeit. In addition, the plaque should be firmly attached to the lining, and have four corners with rounded edges. The font on the interior of the plaque should perfectly match the exterior of the bag.
In addition to checking the plaque, it is essential to examine all fonts on the bag for misspellings and inconsistencies. The letters should be uniform throughout the bag, and especially on the dust bag and authenticity card if you have one.
A notch can be seen on the right leg. The fake logo is slightly angled, while the real Prada logo is a tiny space between the R's leg and the body of the letter. This is a further detail that is easy to overlook and therefore, you should take the time to examine every aspect of your Prada bag to ensure consistency and accuracy. You should be able to determine whether or whether a Prada handbag is authentic by following the guidelines above.
Hardware
There are some key details you should be looking for when purchasing Prada hardware. All Prada bags should come with silver or gold-plated hardware including clasps and zippers. If the bag is made of mixed metals, or has hardware that's not silver or gold-plated, it's likely fake.
A Prada bag's interior logo plaque is another way to determine whether the bag is authentic. The plaque should be affixed securely to the bag and have four edges that are rounded. The letters in the word "PRADA" should also exhibit these characteristics The right leg of each letter should be noticeable thicker than the left, and they should curve slightly upwards.
All real Prada bags come with a Quality Assessment Tag (QAT) that's stitched inside the bag's interior pocket. The QAT will be an either a three or two digit number that identifies the factory that the bag was created. Counterfeiters have noticed this tag, so be sure to look for it on any bags you're considering buying.
Authentic Prada bags must come with a dustbag, and the bag should feature the PRADA logo and a label stating that it's made of 100 percent cotton. The Prada website provides more details about authenticating bags. You can also speak to a sales rep in your local store for more information.

Brand Name
When Miuccia Prada introduced the nylon bag in 1984, she shook up the fashion world with a revolutionary new material that made her bag both functional and stylish. The original design made use of the same industrial-weight nylon that was used in military tents, making it durable and versatile enough to carry everyday necessities.
The bag is timeless but has been updated over the years by introducing new materials and shapes. Most recently the Galleria bag (named after the famous shopping arcade) has reached the status of an archetypal bag. This top-handle bag combines classic silhouettes of frame bags from the 1940s with a modernist take on structure and shape that creates a sleek design that is stylish and practical. The latest version -- a roomy and crinkled antique leather bag that has been seen on It girls' arms all summer -- is about as Prada as you can get.
Other Prada bags, like the slender Diagramme tote first launched in 1995, reinvent timeless materials and shapes to appeal to today’s discerning consumer. Carolyn Bessette Kennedy's favorite demure bag has been reimagined using intense leather dyes powdery blue and pink and powdery blue.
Authentic Prada bags are identified by a triangular logo plaque on the outside. The plaque has four lines of text, comprising the brand's name (PRADA) and the city of origin (MILANO), year of production, and coat of arms. The plaque should be placed flat against the bag and not be moved or removed completely.
A true Prada bag has a special brand logo on the inside liner. The lettering should be all capitals serifs and the right side of 'R' should be angled outward. This is an important characteristic to look for as it can help you distinguish between fakes and authentic Prada bags.
