Silkeborg's museum showcases more than a thousand year of history. The museum is home to 2,400-year old artifacts and live history exhibits.

Silkeborg's handball squad is part of the Danish Handball League. The team, named Bjerringbro-Silkeborg Handbold, has been in existence since 2005. They currently rank fifth in the league table. They average 26.3 goals per game.
It also has an open-air marina
There are a myriad of transport options to choose from when you are planning to visit Silkeborg. Silkeborg is home of numerous lakes and waterways, making it a popular spot to go sailing, boating and hiking. It is easily accessible by train or the Hjejlen paddle-steamer. The city is home to a number of interesting attractions, such as the Riverboat Jazz Festival and the Abne Atelierdore.
