The luna 805 is a digital monocular from Luna Optics that uses a very sensitive CCD image sensor to detect light and convert it into an electrical signal. The signals are processed using a microprocessor to display an image on the monoculars internal LCD screen. The luminosity of the image changes with the intensity of the light being detected by the sensor. It is much like the way that night vision scopes work, except that instead of requiring expensive and fragile photocathodes and intensifier tubes, the luna 805 uses a more affordable digital image sensor.
The ODiSI software allows the user to save and restore configurations. This feature is useful for transferring data between different systems or for quickly restoring the settings of a device after a power outage. The configuration can be saved as a file, or in the form of a graphical representation of the device layout.
A sensor configuration is an individual set of sensor information, including a list of Gages and Segments, along with their associated parameters. The configuration is stored on a database and is accessible from the User Interface. Each configured sensor can have multiple Tares, Rekeys, and Gages and Segments.
ODiSI can support a number of different sensor types including continuous fiber grating (CFG), singlemode fiber, and acoustic measurement. The ODiSI system uses a polynomial model to translate the optical frequency measurement into strain.
The ODiSI device supports a variety of standoff cable lengths with RLC connectors on each end. The connectors are cleaned with a provided Cletop Connector cleaner (see the Setup Guide for instructions). The length of the standoff cable between the ODiSI instrument and the remote module is not included in the total sensor length.
