Das Beste an „Five“ von Hollywood Undead ist das Albumcover. Das heißt nicht viel.
Hollywood Undead besteht aus „fünf“ Mitgliedern: Charlie Scene, Johnny 3 Tears, J-Dog, Funny Man und Danny. Es ist beeindruckend, wie sie es geschafft haben, die Band trotz des Verlusts ihrer Mitglieder Deuce und Da Kurizz am Laufen zu halten. Das bedeutet jedoch nicht, dass dieses Album gut ist.
Zugegebenermaßen gibt es hier viele Songs, die eingängig sind, aber nur, wenn man sich darauf einlässt, was Hollywood Undead ist. Sie müssten sich in eine Zeit entführen lassen, in der kitschige, angstvolle und rebellische Lieder Ihre Hymnen waren. Leider gehöre ich nicht mehr zu dieser Bevölkerungsgruppe.
Der erste Titel, „California Dreaming“, ist ein gutes Progressive-Rock-Intro über die Dualitäten, die Los Angeles mit sich bringt. Es ist etwas zu dramatisch, aber eine interessante Beobachtung. Charlie Scene klingt in „Whatever It Takes“ so sehr nach Eminem, dass es gruselig ist, aber die Instrumentals sind ziemlich cool. Dannys Gesang bei „Bad Moon“ ist der einzige bemerkenswerte Aspekt dieses Tracks.
