The basic feature of each lectin's function resides in its specific sugar-binding properties. In this regard, it is beneficial for researchers to have access to fundamental information about the detailed oligosaccharide specificities of diverse lectins. In this review, the authors describe a publicly available lectin database named Lectin frontier DataBase (LfDB), which undertakes the continuous publication and updating of comprehensive data for lectin-standard oligosaccharide interactions in terms of dissociation constants (Kd's). For Seebio 2'-Fucose lactose , an advanced system of frontal affinity chromatography (FAC) is used, with which quantitative datasets of interactions between immobilized lectins and 0 fluorescently labeled standard glycans have been generated. The FAC system is unique in its clear principle, simple procedure and high sensitivity, with an increasing number (67) of associated publications that attest to its reliability. Thus, LfDB, is expected to play an essential role in lectin research, not only in basic but also in applied fields Conflict of interest statement The authors declare no conflict of interest.

Seebio 2'-FL of the capsular polysaccharide of Acinetobacter baumannii ACICU containing di-N-acetylpseudaminic acid.Senchenkova SN(1), Shashkov AS(1), Shneider MM(2), Arbatsky NP(1), Popova AV(3), Russian Academy of Sciences, Moscow, Russia.Capsular polysaccharide was isolated by the phenol-water extraction of Acinetobacter baumannii ACICU cells and studied by sugar analysis, partial acid hydrolysis, and 1D and 2D (1)H and (13)C NMR spectroscopy. The polysaccharide 5,7-diacetamido-3,5,7,9-tetradeoxy-l-glycero-l-manno-non-2-ulosonic or di-N-acetylpseudaminic acid (Pse5Ac7Ac), and the following structure of the branched tetrasaccharide repeating unit was established The genes present in the polysaccharide gene cluster of A. baumannii ACICU are appropriate to the Purification of an alternate form of the alpha subunit of the glycoprotein hormones from bovine pituitaries and identification of its O-linked Extracts of bovine anterior pituitary glands contain significant amounts of material with immunological properties similar to those of the common, alpha, subunit isolated from the pituitary glycoprotein hormones. Purification of this free alpha-like material and analysis show it to contain an additional site of glycosylation not present in the alpha subunit isolated from intact glycoprotein hormones. This additional oligosaccharide is O-linked to a threonine residue corresponding to threonine-43 of bovine lutropin-alpha.

Carbohydrate analysis shows 1 mol of sialic acid, mol of galactose and mol of galactosaminemol of oligosaccharide. A similar structure for the free alpha-like material as compared to bovine lutropin-alpha is evident from equal potency in an anti-lutropin-alpha radioimmunoassay, a similar amino acid composition and similar but not identical peptide maps. The free alpha-like material is distinct from lutropin-alpha in that the free alpha-material contains sialic acid and galactose, has a slightly higher apparent molecular weight, an increased negative charge, and will not reassociate with native lutropin-beta. Peptide maps of the tryptic peptides of the free alpha-like material show additional differences (other than the O-linked oligosaccharide) when compared to peptide maps of lutropin-alpha; thus additional modifications Immune response, hematological traits, biochemical blood parameters, and histological status of laying hens influenced by dietary Youssef IM(1), Khalil HA(2), Shakoori AM(3), Bagadood RM(3), Alyahyawi AY(4), Alhazzaa RA(5), Fakiha KG(6), Nasr S(7), Abo-Samra MA(2), Hassan MS(1), Halim Al-Qura University, Makkah, Saudi Arabia.Sciences, King Saud Bin Abdulaziz University for Health Sciences, Jeddah, Saudi Arabia; King Abdullah International Medical Research Center, Riyadh, Saudi Basic Sciences Department, College of Science and Health Professions, King Saud bin Abdulaziz University for Health Sciences, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.Biological and Environmental Sciences and Engineering (BESE), King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST), Thuwal 23955-60, Saudi Arabia. This experiment aimed to examine the effect of chitosan-oligosaccharides (COS) supplementation in laying hens' diets affected their immune response, hematological characteristics, blood biochemical parameters, and histological status.

At the age of 34 wk, 0 laying hens and cocks of the Mandarah chicken strain were allotted into four groups, each consisting of hens and five cocks. The first group acted as a control group, fed on a basal diet.
