How to Spot an Authentic Prada Bag
Prada bags exude class and sleek, modernist lines. Made of distinctive materials, these bags were made entirely in-house.
To identify authentic Prada bag, look for the brand stamp in the lining inside. It should have two to three lines of stitching including PRADA and MILANO.
Brand Stamp
Prada is known to have sleek, minimal silhouettes. However, the brand likes to add a touch of flair. The Cleo for instance, is a bag that first came into the Multiple Views spring/summer 2021 collection (a year before Raf Simons was named co-creative director). The bag is curved with a lot of energy. It comes in a variety of colors, including inky black, white milk, and a powdery Pistachio. This version of the Cleo bag is made from light spazzolato leather as well as smooth brushed calfskin, which gives it an even softer sheen than patent leather. A bejeweled version of the Cleo is also available if you're looking to get something more daring.
Authentic Prada bags will have an interior logo plaque or tag, depending on the type of bag. Older models include three lines that read 'PRADA MADE IN ITALIA and 'PRADA MADE IN ITALIA', while the newer designs only have two lines. This logo is embossed onto the surface of a ceramic plate on bags with fabric linings, and may be stitched onto a leather patch for small bags, or on non-leather versions.
The tag should always be in line with the color of the interior lining. If it does not, it's a huge red flag. The tag shouldn't be made from cloth or plastic.
On the back of authentic Prada zippers, you'll see the names of the company's five zipper manufacturers. Examine the bottom of your zipper pullers to ensure this information is on the back. Fake zippers are usually larger and shorter with cutouts that do not match up with the zipper slide.
Triangle Logo Plaque
Prada bags come with an inverted triangle plaque that is placed on the exterior of the bag and has four lines: the brand's name, the city of origination (Milano) and coat of arms. prada mini bags is securely attached to the bag. Fake logos aren't properly center and can be lifted up in the event that they are. An authentic logo should also have rounded corners, not square ones.
The interior of the genuine Prada bag is constructed of embossed jacquard or leather. The lining fabric should have the logo or rope chain lines printed on it. The lines will be alternated and the first line printed in a vertical orientation and then the roping chain line upside down. A real lining will also feature a small square that is stitched into the interior pouch. The square indicates the factory where the bag was made.
A authentic Prada bag comes with a product card as well as a dust bag. The card is a black piece paper with a sales tag attached, has more details about the bag than the label on the bottom of the bag. It may include the serial number of the bag, or a barcode that you can use to get more details from the Prada website.
Another method to verify the authenticity of a Prada bag is to check the hardware. The clasps, zippers and feet should be silver or gold. If they're not, it's a signal that the bag is not authentic. Make sure that the hardware made of metal is stamped with the Prada logo printed on it. Additionally, the zippers must run smoothly and not snag. Over the years, the company has used various zipper manufacturers, including LAMPO YKK, and Riri. Be certain to determine which one your bag comes with.
Interior Logo Plaque
Authentic Prada bags come with an engraved ceramic or leather plaque that has two to three lines of text. The words should match with the color of the bag's lining. The tag should include at least two or three numbers. If it's printed in black or contains just three or two numbers the bag is not authentic. Prada has a white label with brand marks. It is also known as the factory tag or quality assurance tag. It will bear an identification number that varies between Prada and Milano and may also state MADE IN ITALY. If you don't see this label on the bag it may be a fake.
If the logo on a bag appears be made of fabric or plastic instead of leather, then it could be a fake. Additionally, the plaque should be securely attached to the lining, and have four corners with rounded edges. The font on the interior plaque should be a perfect match to the exterior of the bag.
Check the fonts of the bag, and also the plaque. The bag's letters should be consistent, especially when there is an authenticity or dust bag card.
Another detail to look for is the notch on the right side of the R in the logo. The original Prada logo has a tiny bit of space between where the right leg connects with the body of the letter while the counterfeit logo is slightly inclined. This is a detail that you may overlook, so be sure you check your Prada bag to ensure that it is consistent and accurate. You should be able to tell whether or not the Prada handbag is authentic following the guidelines above.
Hardware
There are some key details you should be looking for when purchasing Prada hardware. All Prada bags should come with silver or gold-plated components, such as zippers and clasps. If the bag is made from mixed metals, or features hardware that's not silver or gold plated, it's probably fake.
The logo on the inside of a Prada bag is another good way to tell if a bag is genuine. The plaque should be affixed securely to the bag and feature four rounded edges. The letters that make up the word "PRADA" should also display these characteristics The right leg of each letter should be significantly thicker than the left, and they should be curving slightly upwards.
All genuine Prada bags come with the Quality Assessment Tag (QAT) that's placed inside the bag's interior pocket. The QAT will have a two or three digit number that indicates the factory from which the bag was created. This tag is a popular counterfeiter's tool, so be sure to look for it on bags you're considering purchasing.
Authentic Prada bags should always include a dust bag, and the dustbag should bear the PRADA brand and a label stating that it's 100 percent cotton. You can learn more about authenticating bags by visiting the Prada website or speaking with a sales associate at your local store.

Brand Name
When Miuccia Prada introduced the nylon bag in 1984, she shook up the fashion industry with a revolutionary new material that made her bag both practical and stylish. The original design made use of the same industrial-weight nylon that was used in military tents, which made it durable and versatile enough to hold everyday necessities.
While the bag is still a classic, it's been updated with novel textiles and silhouettes throughout the years. Recently, the Galleria bag (named after the historical shopping arcade) has risen to the status of an archetypal bag. This top-handled handbag blends 1940s frame bag designs with a modernist approach in form and structure to create a sleek and chic look. The latest version, a large and crinkled antique leather bag that has been seen on It girls' arms all summer long -- is as Prada as you can get.
Other Prada bags, like the demure Diagramme tote first launched in 1995, have been reworked using classic shapes and fabrics to appeal to the modern consumer. Carolyn Bessette Kennedy's favorite demure bag has been reimagined using rich leather dyes powdery blue and pink and powdery blue.
Authentic Prada bags feature an emblem with a triangular design that is attached to their exterior. The plaque has four lines of text: the brand's name (PRADA) and the city of origin (MILANO) and the year of production, and the coat of arms. The plaque should sit flat against the bag and should not be removed or moved.
In addition to the brand plaque, a genuine Prada bag also comes with an official brand stamp on its interior lining. The letters should be all-capital serifs and oriented in the direction of the right leg of the 'R' being angled outward from the rest. This identifying mark is a crucial feature to look for, since it can help you weed out fakes from real Prada bags.
