The organization that participate in this study was Wolfies Swim School. Wolfies Swim school is a water
instruction company within this company they teach from the age of 4 months old all the way up to
adults. The mission of Wolfies Swim School is to teach life long swim instruction while having fun.
The majority of this population is caucasian and the higher end of annual income.
The method used during this time with Wolfies Swim school were a cultural competence assessment survey. When asking for this information I approached the owner and co owner of Wolfies Swim School and explanined that this would be for a college course going towards my degree. I informed them that I would need to give surveys to two members at the same level starting with them and working my way down to swim instructors. I was then given two members of each level to give the surveys to, I introduced myself and explained that this was for a college course towards my degree. It was given to them at the same time and took about ten minutes for everyone to complete.
It would be beneficial for this company to learn more about cultural competence and cultural
proficiency, as at least one in each category marked that they were not culturally competent. The target community is mostly occasion and in the more wealthy area. The flyers to the website
full with only Caucasian people and the prices are higher than surrounding swim schools. The participants in the survey were also Caucasian with the exception of one hispanic. While observing the swim school the majority of clients or swimmers were caucasian as well.
