Important Parts of an Espresso Machine

Pump-driven espresso machines may employ a piston, spring or electric pump. But, they all require that water be circulated through the grounds of coffee at a high pressure. Steam-driven and piston-driven espresso machines are also available. Steam pressure is used to push water through the grounds of coffee in a steam-driven espresso machine. This type of machine is cheaper but does not produce the same amount of pressure needed for extraction. There are also air pump-driven espresso machines which are smaller and lighter but do not require a boiler and can be powered by a hand pump or a canister of compressed air (such as CO2 or N2). Air-pump espresso makers produce less espresso when compared to pumps, but they can be more suitable for certain people.
Steam Wand
The steam wad is a small metal pipe that shoots hot, pressurized Steam into your milk for foamy drinks such as Lattes and cappuccinos. The wand can be used to warm tea, cocoa or other hot drinks. The wand is usually made of several holes on the tip, which you can turn off and on to control how much steam is released. Certain machines come with an old-fashioned wand, while others use a Pannarello wand that is simpler to operate but doesn't create the same kind of foam needed for Latte art.
