The other core zone is allocated to battery standard testing comprising more than 60 processes including Charge & Discharge, Air Leak Test, Insulation Test and Static Test. This manufacturing line can produce as many as fifty thousand cell-to-pack battery units annually, offering quality standards on par with those produced for global markets. Batteries manufactured at the manufacturing plant are slated to be first installed in MG4 ELECTRIC as well as upcoming models going forward. At present, the plant is in its preparatory production phases with plans to officially open in 2024.


Mr. Zhao Feng, President at SAIC Motor-CP, stated, "The EV battery shop represents a key element in the development plan for the NEW ENERGY INDUSTRIAL PARK located inside the WHA Eastern Seaboard Industrial Estate 2 (WHA ESIE 2) in Chonburi province earmarked towards local production of EVs. Along with an added investment budget worth 500 million Thai baht, the plant is designed for the production of Cell-To-Pack (CTP) electric vehicle battery packs which utilizes an innovative RUBIK'S CUBE BATTERY technology. Given the strength and growing opportunity for Thailand's EV market, the parent companies realize the prospects to become a manufacturing base for electric vehicles for both local and export markets, especially among ASEAN countries."
