Counter Strike New Revealed
After weeks of rumors Valve has finally announced Counter Strike new. It's an update for CS:GO that will put the game on the Source 2 engine and make some significant visual changes.
It also includes responsive smoke grenades as well as sub-tick updates for servers. It's got a lot of casual gamers going wild but it appears to be an enormous upgrade for the regular player.
Smokes
Counter Strike New is getting an update that will completely change the way smokes are used in the game. The new changes are being referred to as responsive smokes and are a huge game changer. Smokes will expand to fill in spaces and move across the map in a variety of ways. They will also react to the lighting in the game, which will make them look better and more realistic. In addition to these new features, smokes will now be able to interact with game events and will offer new tactical possibilities. Bullets, for instance will push smoke in order to temporarily clear sightlines. Hex grenade blasts can also disperse smoke occlusion.
The most significant change in smokes is that they will now become a more active part of the game. In the past, smokes were a fixed shape that was limited in how far they could travel and the amount of vision it blocked. The new smokes will fill the space they are located and block more of a player's vision when they are in place. This is a significant improvement that will make the game more exciting and provide both teams with the same level of visibility.
Smokes can also react to the lighting, weapons, and surroundings of the world. This makes smoke more realistic and offer players different ways to use it to gain an advantage over their opponents. This is especially beneficial during the chaotic 5v5 battles that are sure to happen on every map.
Smokes will no longer be one-way, which was a significant problem in CS:GO and allowed players to see their opponents' locations from behind the smoke. Twistzz is a well-known CS:GO pro, claims that the new system is a major improvement for players in competitive CS2 and will make it more fair for both teams.
Other minor changes include changing the vertical position of smoke particles to reduce the visible edges, and updating the spectator's smoke overlay visuals so that they match their camera position. cs2 case opening of smokes has been updated to be more in line with the visuals of how they fade onto the screen.
Loadouts
Players of CSGO can now alter their weapon choices prior to the start of each match. The updated loadout system lets players to choose the weapons that best fit their style of play and team strategy. The updated system also adds new tactical depth to the game since players must be able to balance firepower and utility.
The CS: GO Update includes several other enhancements and changes in addition to the brand new loadouts. The buy menu was completely redesigned. The old buy wheel was replaced with an adjustable grid that displays all the purchase options all at once. The grid is populated with five pistols and five "mid-tier weapons" such as submachine guns, shotguns and rifles.
The new system is easy to use and will give players greater control over their weapon selection. It will let them select the weapon that best suits their playstyle and team strategy the best, as well being able to experiment with different combinations. It also allows players to test their skills against other players' loadouts, and see how they compare.
While many players appreciate the added flexibility, others have been critical of it for straying from the essence of Counter-Strike. There have been concerns about how it will affect loadouts specific to maps and skins of agents dependent on visibility.
In spite of these criticisms the new loadout system will be tested in greater detail in the coming months. It is possible that some of these issues may be addressed in future updates, therefore it is important to keep an eye out for further information.
Workshop Tools are also included in the update, and can be enabled from the settings menu. This allows community contributors to design weapon finishes and stickers, as also maps. The update will also the players who are in violation of VAC guidelines in matches.
The new CS GO update is scheduled to be released in the coming summer. Players can now look over the full list of features and updates by visiting the official CS: GO site.
Sub-Tick Updates
The world of Counter-Strike is updated by the server in discrete time increments called ticks. Valve wants to ensure that CS: GO is responsive and smooth. The smallest delay can alter the accuracy of the shot. A new video reveals one of the game's most significant under-the-hood improvements, known as sub-tick updates.
Instead of a 64-tick update every millisecond, CS Go will now be able to make use of sub-ticks (or as Valve calls them, "micro-ticks") to communicate with the server. Each of these tiny intervals of time will be recorded by the client and sent to the server, which will transmit the updated game state back to players. The servers will now know exactly moment when you shot or jumped, peeked and other inputs.
While a one-minute video is not enough to fully explain everything, the video explains that each piece of information sent by the client is accompanied by a time stamp, and that the server will collect all the data from all players in chronological order prior to sending it back. According to the video it is believed that a CS: GO server will be able to send more than twice the data as a 64-tick server.
This means that even the tick rate of the game is increased to 128 Hz, the game will still be able to handle your commands immediately. It's not just about increasing the tick rate either; the micro-tick updates will also reduce latency and input lag by guaranteeing that the server will respond to your actions with no delays or glitches.
Valve's technical enhancements to the game are only the beginning. The company is implementing dynamic smoke and particle systems to improve the way smoke interacts with the environment, and it's upgrading all of the maps with high-resolution lighting, textures, and models. All CS: GO weapons and cosmetics will also get a makeover using Source 2 tools and features.
Maps
The next update for Counter Strike New brings new maps and a few classics that have been updated with facelifts. These updates are currently being tested as part of a limited-test beta. The first set includes an upgrade and a touchstone map that will not see major changes in gameplay, whereas other maps have been completely revamped or rebuilt using the new Source 2 Tools.
Overpass is one of the maps that has been reworked in order to take advantage the new engine's unified light system. The map's eerie underground has been flooded with light to make it more spacious and less overcrowded. In addition smoke grenades now expand dynamically to fill spaces and interact with the new light.
Another map that's been reworked is Italy and has undergone major changes to texture lighting, structure, and lighting. The new version is also more balanced than the predecessor, which was heavily CT-sided. In the near future, fans can anticipate seeing classics like Aztec and Militia revamped.
These maps won't be added to the map pool for competitive play even though they're still playable. The exception is Train, which has been removed from Active Duty and will continue to be played in tournaments. Valve hasn't yet confirmed whether the other maps that were removed will be reintroduced to the pool.
One of the more controversial updates is one designed by Helsingin Sanomat, Finland's national newspaper. The newspaper has been active in its criticism of Russia's actions against Ukraine. This map is based off of the conflict-ravaged Donetsk. The map is called de_voyna and includes a number references to the conflict.
The developer will release a collection of Source 2 Tools for map makers in the near future. This will include features such as improved lighting and character read and physically-based rendering that creates realistic textures, materials and reflections. It will also make real-world objects like windows and doors, easier to use. The update is expected to release sometime this summer.
