Emily has a mental disorder that isn’t known but may be borderline personality or bipolar disorder as it was stated that she has gone to a psych ward and set her ex-boyfriend's car on fire.

She has a bad relationship with both of her parents and doesn’t like them, stating these at multiple points in the game, also saying that she wishes her dad was dead and that her mother is a bitch. She has slashed her moms tires (by her own words) and takes seroquel as “something like anti-psychotics” due to her mom forcing her to take it after that event.

She's also really defensive, seen by how when Nicole said the word spontaneous she thought about it negatively and threatened to smack the shit out of her and make her bleed if she was talking down to her, or with another time she thought Nicole was backing out of their plan to overdose in front of Ms. Ames she said she was gonna jump her ass. There are many other examples of this.

She’s also known to hear voices, and has violent tendencies, like threatening to stab Ari, or take Nicole's moms heart out and hand it to her on a silver platter, she has also choked a girl in P.E.
She commonly sells adderall, and is known to sell it for very high.

Nicole and Emily were friends during one of the routes, even going as far as Emily having an actual crush on Nicole, lying when questioned by Nicole about it but revealing she actually did after going through with their suicide pact. Nicole cut her pill mixture with vitamins so she didn’t die, but Emily did. She was very envious of Emily for being more “troubled and misunderstood” than her. In another route, she once decided to help Nicole when she was homeless, by encouraging her that she should be a MySpace escort to get money. She also helps Nicole expose one of the teachers in the same route.
