The second area is allocated to battery testing and validation which involves over 60 processes such as Charge & Discharge, Air Leak Test, insulation testing and static load tests. This manufacturing line is capable of produce up to 50,000 cell-to-pack EV battery packs per year, with the quality on par with batteries made on a global scale. Batteries manufactured at this production facility will be first installed in the MG4 EV and other other models in the future. Currently, the plant is undergoing preparatory production phases with plans for official operations to commence in 2024.

Zhao Feng, CEO of the automotive group, said, "This battery production plant is part of the development plan underlying NEW ENERGY INDUSTRIAL PARK situated within the WHA Eastern Seaboard Industrial Estate 2 (WHA ESIE 2) in Thailand's Chonburi earmarked towards local production of EVs. With an added investment budget worth 500 million Thai baht, the plant has been configured for the production of cell-to-pack (CTP) electric vehicle battery packs which utilizes the new RUBIK'S CUBE BATTERY technology. With the strength and growing opportunity for Thailand's electric vehicle segment, SAIC MOTOR CORPORATION and HASCO-CP recognize the potential to become a manufacturing base for electric vehicles catering to local and export markets, especially among Southeast Asian nations."
