Each brick, each window has its own story. Compare that to the glassy towers that reach the sky in the modern city. It's like they are two completely different universes. And yet, we're here, where cobblestones meet concrete.

Gaudi’s Sagrada Familia comes to mind. It was like when a chef decides to disregard all of his recipe books and follow only instinct. The end result was? This dish (or church in this case) looks straight out of an epic fantasy novel. Those spires reaching for the heavens are not just showing off; they're whispering (or maybe shouting), "Look what happens when you let imagination run wild!"

Fast forward now to an era with clean lines and wide open spaces - hello Modernism. It was at this time that architects realized less really is more. Except when it came to coffee. There's always too much coffee. Le Corbusier wasn't just playing with blocks; he was redefining how space could be used efficiently yet stylishly. Imagine telling someone who lived in Le Corbusier's time that we would be calling concrete slabs "chic" one day. You'd hear them chuckle in their cup of tea.

Let's take a look at those futuristic buildings which do much more than simply stand and be beautiful. The structures of today are becoming more intelligent by the second. Solar panels as hairdos and rainwater cocktails for happy hour. Walls that can change colour depending on their mood...or temperature.

But here's something to chew on: beauty in architecture is as subjective as pineapple on pizza (don't @ me). A person might be moved to awe by something that another finds boring. But that's okay. If everyone enjoyed pineapple on their pizzeria, then life would become pretty dull.

As we toss opinions like confetti around at a wedding let's also not forget that good design should be accessible to everyone, and not just for those who can pay extra to add fancy toppings to their pizza. Why should inspiring spaces be reserved for a select few? Let's make good taste accessible to everyone!

Architecture is something that we can't ignore as we try to navigate our crazy world. This architecture is a reflection of our dreams, values, and even mistakes.

The next time you see an interesting structure, such as an old church or an impressive new museum - tip your hat. Or give it a little nod instead if you don't like hats. You can acknowledge its contributions to our collective story by giving it a nod.
