How to Replace a Saab 93 Key Fob
Every car must have a remote/transmitter that can lock or unlock your car. The batteries that are used in these devices may be damaged.
You can add a second key to the Saab 93 for about $400 if you don't already have two. This requires purchasing a brand new TWICE Module at the dealer, and installing it using a special hand-held device called Tech2. Tech2.
Keys Replacement
Many used Saabs have one key. It is a good idea purchase a spare as early as you can as it's much less expensive to do this than replacing the entire vehicle in case you lose your primary key. It is also crucial to rotate your keys regularly so that they don't get all the wear and tear and also to keep them clean.
If you lose your only key, you'll need to replace the CIM (Column Integration Module) or TWICE (Theft Warning Integrated Central Electronics) module together with a new key and a specific program to convince the car that you're not trying to steal it. These modules can cost upwards of $400 to replace and are only available via mail or by phone. Most locksmiths or dealers are unable to complete the task within the same day.
The good news is that most modern Saab vehicles can have a secondary key that can be added to the system. This is possible without replacing the original computer. The dealer will need to use a specific handheld computer called Tech-2 Tech-2 to add the second key and then program it into the vehicle. Some garages that are independent are able to do this, but the process is more complicated and they will have to reprogram the EEPROM of your car's computer so it will accept the new key.
Replacement key fobs for keys
Saab owners who have lost their previous key or had it stolen must get the replacement as soon as possible. The steps required to obtain an original working fob requires the services department of the dealer and could cost hundreds, which could include the purchase of a new key as well as a TWICE device, which is a central electronic theft warning.
The process is less expensive should you have a spare. The new key must be compatible with the original TWICE module and a pre-owned one is unlikely to work in this application, but genuine OEM replacement is typically purchased from a dealer for less than the cost.
It is easy to remove the case from a new SAAB Key Fob. Utilize a flathead to pry the case open and be sure to avoid damaging the electronics inside. After removing the electronics and battery and replacing the case with the shell of the old key fob. Set the two pieces in alignment and gently press them in to allow them to click into the correct position. After the new key is installed and synchronized, you can use it again. Be aware that installing a key can be more complicated than replacing an emergency key. The dealer will have to use a special tool called the Tech-2.
Keys to replace ignition
First, make sure that the transmission is in Park. This will stop your car from spinning away when the lock for the transmission fails or your manual transmission fails to get into gear.
In most cases the issue lies with the electronic components of the key fob that control how the car recognizes the key once it's put into the ignition cylinder. The metal key itself is fairly easy to duplicate, but the electronic part inside the key fob is what makes the car recognize the key.
Adding a key to a Saab car requires a special transmitter and a transponder with it and some kind of special programming for the car to convince the computer it is not trying to steal the vehicle. This is not something that a locksmith could do, it has to be done through a dealer or a special handheld computer called Tech2. Tech2.
The good news is that if there's one key fob that is working, the cost of acquiring another should not exceed $200 or as much. The other expense is the actual fabrication of the metal key, in the event that you require it. saab key code www.g28carkeys.co.uk of dealers can also do this, but it can take several weeks to get both the part and the car programmed.
