The primary area encompasses the battery assembly line that operates with full automation through state-of-the-art robotic technology, laser welding systems ensuring precision and Charge Coupled Device (CCD) to cross-check the standards of each battery pack against a prototype before being installed in a all-electric car. The other core zone is designated to battery standard testing which involves over sixty processes such as charge-discharge cycles, air leak detection, Insulation Test and Static Test. The production line can produce as many as 50,000 cell-to-pack EV battery packs per year, offering quality standards on par with those produced for global markets. Battery packs manufactured at the manufacturing plant will be first installed in MG4 ELECTRIC as well as other models going forward. Currently, the plant is in its production preparation process and is expected for official operations to commence in 2024.

Mr. Zhao Feng, President of SAIC Motor-CP, stated, "The EV battery shop is part of the masterplan for the New Energy Industrial Estate situated inside WHA ESIE 2 industrial zone in Chonburi province designated for local production of electric vehicles. With an added investment budget worth 500 million Thai baht, the factory is designed for the production of cell-to-pack (CTP) electric vehicle battery packs which utilizes an innovative cube battery design. Given the robust growth as well as growing opportunity within Thailand's EV market, the parent companies recognize the potential to become the production hub for EVs catering to domestic and international distribution, especially among ASEAN countries."
