The Importance of Dress to Youth Every Day Life

Whether your little woman is sugar, spice and everything great or a spirited building worker in training, she can reveal her character through adorable ladies clothing for every single season. From twirly gowns to comfy one-piece suits, we have the styles she wants to dominate her days, school and adventures.
The inter-linking of clothing and life course
In a recent PhD study, I explored the importance of dress to youths' lives. I discovered that ladies' experiences of ageing and positioning themselves on their life course are mediated by the clothing they wear. Girls' valued and treasured clothing is a means through which they can build a sense of themselves as 'older'. I found that ladies' experience of the passage of time increases the significance of unique clothing and allows them to experiment with a hyper-feminine identity for one short, socially approved moment.
It's no secret that the clothes that little women wear are an important part of their self-perception and social identity. However what is it about these special pieces that make them so important to them? To answer this question, I talked to 21 girls of any ages who used and cared for their favourite outfits. Girls took pictures of their clothing and shared these with me, in addition to stories about why they selected to dress in particular ways.

Girls love a good twirly dress. They like the feel of it versus their skin, the way that it changes them into a pretty flower or a graceful ballerina when they spin around and dance. They likewise like the way that their good friends look when they are wearing these twirly gowns. But what I have found that is similarly as important to women is the manner in which an unique dress or piece of clothes can serve as an anchor in their lives. They can reflect on it with fond memories and remember a specific occasion or time when they used it. These unique memories are anchored to their treasured clothing, and it is this psychological connection that is at the heart of the meaning that they connect to it. In this post, I will check out how these significant connections are made in between gowns and the women who wear them. Then, I will take a look at how these ties are broken as a girl grows into a teenager and begins to lose interest in her preferred pieces of clothing. I will then conclude with some suggestions for how moms and dads can support their children' transition to a new identity as a young woman.
