The hike begins from this trail entrance which can be accessed by car or scooter from Chishang. While this enchanting destination promises an experience like no other, the trip is not suitable for the faint of heart. The path to Lisong Hot Spring is a challenging hike that can take between 3-6 hours, depending on one’s fitness level. Contrary to most hikes, the approach is actually the easy part; it’s the ascent back up from the canyon that poses the greatest challenge. Great place to spend an hour in an just walk around and soak the happy and chill atmosphere.
I can hear the chirping of birds.Relaxing quiet atmophere of the mountain forest. You can take a rest in the pavillion and listen to the natural music of the waves. I also enjoy the breathtaking view of dancing ocean with thick layers of sandstone and thin layers of mudstone. If you love natural wonder of nature you will surely enjoy it. Furthermore, Taitung Township is known for its delicious indigenous delicacies such as millet wine and sticky rice cakes, which make for great edible souvenirs to bring back home.
The lanterns look lovely at night and give the place a special charm. Quite an enjoyable place to have a walk and relax. It has a number of artistic displays or constructs. Pleasant place to walk around, although most of the shops were closed on the weekday that we were there. It looks like it would be a lot of fun on a weekend though!

旧台東車駅のすぐ裏ある小高い山(と言っても山頂までは数十分かかるので少し体力が必要) 個人的に日本のプロ野球球団「広島カープ」が大好きなので一度は行ってみたかった場所。 The Pisirian tribe's cultural center showcases their traditional customs through the use of PawPaw drum music and sculptures made from driftwood goats. This hub serves as the headquarters for the tribe, where visitors can immerse themselves in the rich heritage and learn about their unique traditions. The center is a window into Pisirian culture, offering insight into their way of life and values, which have been passed down over generations. The park offers well-planned pathways and convenient parking, allowing visitors to easily explore the beautiful coastline known as Xiaoyeliu. Taitung Station serves as the final stop for the pan-Taiwan island railway trip along the east coast.
Longtian Elementary School has quite a few of these buildings and century-year old trees, which make the school appear like a forest elementary school. Not just boasting fine rice, Chishang also has a place to enjoy good coffee. No.9 Gourmet Coffee is within a short distance of Dapo Pond. The unique hand-drop coffee served here has a warm and mellow texture, fills the mouth with aroma, and isn’t bitter or sour. The café has a very comfortable space inside, the red bricks and industrial-style iron object decorations complementing the green rice fields outside perfectly. This is a place to find visual, olfactory, and gustatory satisfaction.
In the East Rift Valley, Luye Longtian Bike Trail 鹿野龍田自行車道 traverses tea plantations, pineapple fields, Japanese style architecture and even a green tunnel. For cyclists who do not want to venture too far, the Taitung City Loop is great for a half day cycling trip. This 21 km path is also known as Taitung Shanhai trail, which means mountain and ocean trail as mesmerising scenery of mountains and the sea unfold during the ride. There are many other cycling trails like the scenic Chishang trail and challenging routes on Green and Orchid islands for those looking for a challenge.

The best part, is this place anchored by Sabra Andre's store, the amazing indigenous designer who has an incredible fashion shop here. Former railway platform & buildings converted into an art exhibition & tourist information center. This place is so big and good for spending time with your friends and family. Also, you are able to rent a bike to go around this area. BTW you have to pay the entrance fee before you get inside.
Nearby is the Taitung Huo'er Mobile Fortress, also known as Howl's Moving Castle in Taiwan. The homestay has a barbecue and views of the sea, and guests can enjoy a meal at the restaurant. Each room is equipped with a flat-screen TV with cable channels. The nearest airport is Taitung Airport, a 40-minute drive away from Macawu Homestay.
This market is quite similar to the others in Taipei. A shame that the big intestines noodles was not cut into short strand to eat with spoon. This scenic seaside area known for unique sandstone rock formations has trails & a visitor center. Went there twice, once during the day and once at night. Obviously, there's not much to see here during the day, but the atmosphere at night is mesmerizing. There's a selection of handicraft such as scented candles to choose from and you'll find a place to sit down and have a beer.
You can also visit Luye byin a half day or or full day trip private car trip from Taitung, or as a part of this day tour. Chishang is especially famous for its cycling paths amidst the rice paddies. This is probably my top recommended choice for people visiting Taiwan for a short time.
