UPVC Replacement Door Handles
The handles on your doors are worn out with time and require to be replaced. In this case, it is crucial that the new handles are in line with the exact dimensions of the old handle.
The top screw's position, the lever and the keyhole sizes are the three measurements that you need to determine. Refer to the size guide for help with this.
Inline Lever/Lever
A lever door handle is a contemporary handle that can be put in on new or replacement doors. This kind door handle is offered in a wide range of designs and finishes. This handle is available from a number of manufacturers including Avocet ERA Fullex Hoppe Mila Millenco Yale.
Fab and Fix Windsor Inline Sprung Lever Door Handle
The uPVC/Composite door handles are made of sturdy materials and are suitable for multi-point lock doors that require a heavy duty design. The handles are inline and operate with the same spindle as well as screw fixings. They can be easily incorporated into doors made of uPVC/Composite, either new or old.
The design of the sprung lever allows the handle to be set and angled to provide a comfortable grip and is suitable for all users. The handle has been tested to 200,000 cycles. This allows for the assurance of the quality of the finish and the performance of the handle over time. The lever that is sprung can be cut to fit more locks. This is particularly beneficial for doors with narrower frames, where the cylinder is further back. A shorter lever can be used for doors with latches that can be activated with the thumb inside.
Lever Pad
The lever pad upvc handle is distinct from the lever handles that are used on the majority of doors. The handle can use a single spindle (inline) or independently from each side using two inline or offset spindles (pad). They are typically used on UPVC doors with double glazing. They are available in a range of finishes and variations.
The handles have been tested to the minimum of 200 000 cycles and are available in a variety of finishes like White Silver, Chrome, & Gold. The finish is in line with BS EN 1670:2007 Grade 5 and is also resistant to corrosion, thereby giving the handle a high degree of durability and performance for the intended use.
All of the UPVC handle lever pad styles are supplied with a spindle and screws that allow them to be fitted on an existing or new uPVC door. The backplate fixation centers of 211mm permit a larger handle, which is typically a benefit when replacing an old or faulty multi-point door lock mechanism. The handle levers are sprung, solving the problem of door handles sagging out of their horizontal position when not in use.
When selecting web link and spindle, it is crucial to match the dimensions of the PZ of the multipoint lock as well as the uPVC door. This measurement is also referred to as the handle centre or 'cylinder centres and is an essential aspect to match the appropriate handles.
When you have the right PZ size you will then have to ensure that the lever pads and push pads are in a suitable shape to fit the American with Disabilities Act (ADA) approved handles you need for your doors. These are usually round or square with an internal lever and an external push pad.
The majority of UPVC lever pads that we offer are sprung, which means that they will return to their horizontal position after not in use, rather than hanging out and possibly sticking in the frame. This prevents draughts from entering the home. The majority of UPVC lever pad handles come in both left and right handed versions that allow them to be placed on either side of doors.
Euro Cylinder
Cylinder locks are commonly found on uPVC doors, but can also be found on other types of doors. The cylinder lock operates by a key which unlocks the cylinder's casing. This reveals pins that can be aligned to those inside the lock, allowing them to rotate the revolving camera, opening the door. Euro cylinders can be equipped with up to six pins, with internal and external doors usually needing different levels of security.
The choice of cylinder you choose is essential. It's dependent on the type of use your doors and handles will receive. External doors, for instance are required to be fitted with cylinders that are more secure and internal doors can be secured using the standard cylinder. In addition, some cylinders have extra features which can enhance security further, such as anti-drill or anti-bump features.
A euro cylinder should be properly measured to ensure it's the right size for your door. The cylinder should be measured from the hole in the center of the fixing screw to each end of the cylinder and the thumb turn if you have one. It is best to do this while the lock is in place, but in the event that this is not possible, you can remove it to measure. A cylinder that is protruding beyond the handle and escutcheon might be vulnerable to attacks such as lock snapping, so it is important to make sure it's not too long.
The design of most newer cylinders includes anti-drilling and bump resistance features. These are designed to reduce the chance of a attack by forcing the cylinder rotate in an opposite direction. This can help to deflect an attack and keep your door safe.
There are also cylinders that are constructed to withstand snapping. This is a typical attack on cylinders. A specially designed tool is used to break the break line of the lock, and then the front of the cylinder is snapped off. This is faster and less difficult than opening multipoint locks. It also leaves little evidence of a burglary, which could hinder an insurance claim.
Spring Cassette
This spring cassette sits in the base of your door handle's backplate providing a sprung solution to return your multipoint lock handles to their original position after usage. The handles had no spring, and would slide when the locking mechanism was disengaged. This simple feature is among the most effective ways to fix this and it is also an effective way to keep your doors made of upvc from getting stuck in either closed or open position, as these aren't always simple to manually close by hand.
The spring cassettes were made to be used with a sprung multipoint locks. They won't work with handles that aren't sprung and you'll have to cut a hole into your backplate for them to fit. (Please see the image for a technical diagram). They are a replacement for damaged or missing cassettes inside the door handle backplate of many brands of uPVC doors. They are available as a single unit. They come with a square cut out that accommodates an 8mm shaft.
These spring cassettes are an excellent value solution for the issue of sagging door handles. They are easy to fit and will prolong the lifespan of your uPVC doors.
