French-door fridges combine form and function. They have stylish double doors that reveal the large fridge on top, and a freezer drawer beneath. These refrigerators stand out because of their distinctive features, like through-the-door dispensers and higher-end Ice makers.

We consulted experts such as Ladina Schopf, interior designer architect, founder, and co-founder of LS Projects, for tips on how to select the best one. They considered storage capacity as well as layout, energy efficiency, and other factors.

GE Profile Counter Depth French Door Refrigerator

Like its name implies, the GE Profile series is aimed at consumers who want to incorporate cutting-edge technology into their kitchen. This fridge is a good choice, despite the small blip. It comes with a huge freezer compartment, which is uncommon in counter-depth French door refrigerators. Furthermore, it holds a good amount of frozen foods compared to similar models.

Inside the fridge, there are 17 shelves and compartments. The fridge compartment is 18.5 cubic feet of space, which is about par for a French door fridge costing this much. It has a decent sized icemaker in the left door. However it's not the biggest one I've seen.

You can adjust the shelving in both compartments to create a customized storage arrangement for whatever you have to store. The GE PYE22PYNFS's interior design is good-looking, too. The LED lighting adds an attractive feature. The in-door storage bins come with a third shelf that can be folded down to store tall objects. The drawers include temperature controls that allow you to set them to Meat, Beverage, or Deli settings. They're easy to open and close, but I found their plastic textured coatings a bit rough on the fingers.

The GE PGE29BYTFS Smart Refrigerator is equipped with a complete set of features you'd expect from a fridge at this price with Wi-Fi and app support through GE's SmartHQ software. The app, available for iOS and Android devices can let you control your refrigerator from anywhere in the world, and has a ton of customization options. It also gives you notifications when a door is left open, when the refrigerator or freezer is in need of defrosting, and when it's time to change the filter.

It would be nice if the GE PYE22PYNFS included Precise fill which is an option that is available in a handful of other GE fridges that allows you to choose how many cups of water you'd like to pour out at a time. french door refrigerator with ice maker does offer a countdown feature on the fridge display to display how much water have remaining, but that's not as useful as Precise fill.

Bosch Counter Depth French Door Refrigerator

The Bosch French-door Refrigerator is a stunning piece of equipment. It's designed to look like it's a seamless part in your kitchen. The fridge uses fingerprint-resistant stainless steel, which is a great feature for busy households. It also has a vegetable compartment that keeps fruits and vegetables fresher for longer and dual compressors to preserve food. The ice maker is one of the best we've ever tested and produces pyramid-shaped ice with a low water consumption. This refrigerator is a great option for a single family or kitchenettes that want an integrated look and top-of-the-line food preservation.

The fridge was rated the best refrigerator in our Refrigerators test for a few reasons. The freezer temperatures remained steady at just above 0 degrees Fahrenheit, never moving more than a fraction of a degree--this is key to preventing freezer burn. The fridge section of the fridge also did well. It reached the temperature it was set within a matter of hours, and maintained the temperature throughout our tests.

Bosch is known for its high-end appliances. Therefore, it's no surprise that the Bosch counter depth refrigerator can be connected to your home Wi Fi and Bosch's platform Home Connect. The app lets you monitor and control your fridge from your smartphone or tablet. The fridge is a bit expensive, but it comes with excellent features and functionality for the price.

It is crucial to be aware of the limitations of the fridge. It has a narrow shelf space, which means you may require some creativity when storing tall objects. Additionally, the shelves are not sprillproof and can be easily stained or damaged by sharp objects. The trays are easily removed from the refrigerator. LG Counter Depth French Door Refrigerator

The LG LRFLC2706S counter-depth refrigerator is a great choice for those who need plenty of space in an extremely compact frame. It has a sleek, fingerprint-resistant stainless-steel finish and features thick handles that make them comfortable to grip. The fridge features an ordinary French door layout, with two rows of shelves that can be used to capture spills and a set crisper drawers. The upper right shelf can be folded down to give tall items more room. There's also a full-width drawer to store food items and an internal water dispenser.

One of the nice things about this refrigerator is that the Ice maker is located in the freezer, which makes it simple to move ice into the fridge to use as required. The freezer also has innovative design features such as sliding drawers that allow you to organize your items. It also has a large bin that holds plenty of frozen food items and an additional storage bin for ice.

Another cool feature of this refrigerator is its Smart InstaView panel. You can manage the temperature, lighting and other aspects of your refrigerator from your smartphone. It's a nice way to monitor and manage your refrigerator, especially when you're away from home.


Although the Smart InstaView is a neat feature, it doesn't enhance the overall performance of the refrigerator. The refrigerator took longer to defrost food and chill it than other models we tried. This is likely due to its greater capacity.

The doors are a different issue with this refrigerator. They have sunken handles on the front that allow shorter people to easily open them from the bottom, however they're not easy for taller people to pull shut without slamming them. It would have been much better to have front-mounted handles.

The LG Counter-Depth MAX is a excellent choice for those who want to combine the benefits of a French-door fridge's aesthetics with an efficient layout. Its capacity is above average for a counter-depth model and it cools evenly and has a good layout. It's also a bit cheaper than the top counter depth refrigerator with an icemaker, which makes it an attractive option.

Frigidaire Counter Depth French Door Refrigerator

This Frigidaire French door refrigerator is a good option if you want a French-door refrigerator that doesn't cost a lot of budget. It's a basic fridge that may not be as appealing as its rivals however, it does have enough features to make a suitable option. Its main characteristic is the adjustable temperature drawer that helps keep food items such as meat and vegetables fresher for longer. It also comes with a large ice maker and a water dispenser.

The "Chill Drawer", which is situated over the two crisper bins, is another great feature. The drawer lets you direct the majority of the fridge's cooling power into this area so that you can store foods which need extra attention. You can alter this feature by using a slider that's located right outside of the drawer. You can also alter the general cooling settings for the entire fridge. I've noticed that the general settings are more effective than the specific ones.

During my experiments, I noticed that the temperatures in the refrigerator were fairly consistent in various parts of the refrigerator. Temperatures in the top and bottom of the fridge did not vary very far from 38 degrees, and even the middle of the fridge was within one degree of 36. This is a great performance however it doesn't rank among the best in our rankings.

This fridge has a few other neat features, including a temperature-monitoring display that alerts you to fluctuations and provides a forecast for the day ahead. This fridge can be paired with a smart thermostat in order to obtain more precise readings of the internal temperature of your fridge.

The Frigidaire FGHB2866PF's exterior is constructed of grey-bodied stainless steel that has a "smudge-proof" finish. It does a great job of removing streaks and fingerprints even when compared with glossier stainless steel finishes on other appliances I've tested.
