Replacement UPVC Door Handles
Find the perfect handle for your door, whether replacing your existing handles or adding additional security. These upvc handles are easy to fit and comply with the required 92mm centres of multipoint locks.
The most important measurements to consider are backplate fixing centres and key hole dimensions for levers and levers. Make sure you compare these to your current measurements prior to ordering.
Lever/Pad
Lever pad door handles are made up of the lever handle on one side and a paddle-shaped handle on the other. These are designed for use with key wind locks. However, they can be fitted to multipoint split spindle door locks.
Once you have selected the appropriate handle for the doors the finishes will be displayed in the drop-down list. Not all styles of handle are available in every finish though and you should always look over the sizes and technical drawings for the particular product you want to make sure that you can get the correct size and fit.
It is crucial that when selecting a new set upvc lever pad handles, they are in line with the PZ (distance from the handle spindle to the middle of the hole of the cylinder) of your multipoint door locks. This is because they are required to be aligned to ensure that doors stay locked, no matter if you're looking from the outside or inside. Our handles are designed to fit a wide range of standard cylinders, however it is important to double-check before purchasing.
If you want to upgrade to dual spindle levers you'll need to take out the existing handles and disassemble the lock case. This will require an extra split cylinder inline. upvc replacement door handles are available separately and we have a full technical diagram to look at in the images for each product.
It is recommended to loosen the screws that are holding your door handle, and then examine the mechanism. You may need to loosen the screws further when they aren't tight. After that, you can take off the old handle and spindle and put in your new door handle made of upvc. Before putting the handle in position, it is a good idea to make sure it is in the proper place. You can do this by inserting your finger in the gap between the frame of the door and the door handle to make sure that it is level.
Lever/Lever
The lever door handles are used to operate a multi-point lock that uses the Euro cylinder. They can be located on many double upvc doors, as well as on some wooden and aluminum doors. They are available in two forms, having an interior lever and a paddle on the outside. Sprung - They have an internal spring cassette within the backplate that helps to bring the handle lever into a horizontal position. Non-sprung - they do not have a spring mechanism and must be manually pulled to bring the handle lever to a horizontal position.
To fix the door handle of a lever that is sagging it is necessary to locate the detent access hole or pin, which is usually a small rectangle or round shape hole or protruding pin that is located on the opposite side of the base plate. Once located you can loosen the set screw with a screwdriver and remove it to allow the lever to return to the horizontal position.
After the handle is positioned horizontally, you can install the screws. Tighten them to ensure that the handle stays attached to the base plate. You should also consider applying a threadlocking adhesive solution to the screw threads to improve the grip and stop them from loosing over time.
Drooping lever door handles can be caused by a number of factors. The most frequent reason is that the fixings are over tightened, and are putting pressure on the lever bearing and causing it to pull against the door's surface. It could also be that the levers may not have been operated at a right angle, which stretches the latch mechanism and prevents it from fully springing into operation.
A common cause of spring levers that are not functioning correctly is the spring not being in the right position on the backplate. The easiest way to test this is to move the handle and see if it returns to its horizontal position.
If your door handles are loose, it is important to identify the issue fast, as it could cause excessive wear on the screws, and even to the handle falling off of the base plate. It is recommended to tighten all loose screws regularly, as this will help to prevent them from loosening.
Lever/Snib
These upvc handles are called "Snib handle sets" and feature a snib lock button at the top of the lever. If you don't have a dummy locking device then you can use this device to secure the door. They are typically fitted with a Fullex 68PZ (that's 68mm between the spindle centre and lever or the lock centre) door lock. We also stock a variety of other 68PZ door handles from manufacturers such as Ferco and Fab & Fix.
Change your door handle is a cheap option to modernize your home, whether you're replacing your handles or installing new ones to doors you've built in your house. There are a variety of styles available for door handles made of upvc including the classic lever on the backplate. Other options include straight or curly short latches as well as dummy knobs for multi-point locks. These are ideal for French doors.
Lever on backplate handles are typically rectangular in shape but there are also oval or circular-shaped versions, which are known as rose door handles. These kinds of door handles have the knob or lever on a backplate which is placed behind the lever or knob and is often referred to as the rosette, however certain back plates can be removed to be concealed for fixing.
The handles are available in a variety of finishes, including coloured and chrome finishes to match your door and other hardware, such as knobs hinges and bolts. Some handles come with grub screws to assist in firmly attaching the knob or lever to the spindle. Other handles are supplied with bathroom spindles that can be used to operate bathroom locks and incorporate a thumbturn turn and release mechanism, ideal for use on bathroom doors.
Mortise
If your front door's uPVC handle is stuck in the open position, the reason is most likely to be related to the tubular latch. This could be due to various reasons but the most prevalent is an absence of lubrication within the latch plate. This can be corrected quickly by opening the door and spraying lubricant onto the handle and lock. It could also be that the latch has slipped away from the backplate. This can be a bit more of a problem and will require a specialist to fix.
A multipoint handle is the best solution for stuck door handles. The handles are positioned through the faceplate and operated with the use of a key or thumb turn knob which activates the cam that locks the deadbolt. The handles are available in a variety of sizes that will fit various kinds of uPVC doors. They also come in an array of attractive finishes to match the hardware you already have. The handles can be purchased via the internet or from the local locksmith and can be installed with clear instructions.
To choose a replacement handle set, you will be required to determine the PZ dimension of the cylinder. This is the distance from the edge of the frame of the door to the central edge of the hole in the handle in millimetres. You will also need to be aware of whether your door has a hook style lock or a mortise lock. Once you have these measurements, the easiest method to determine the right handles is to use the filter by brand on the website. This will help you narrow down your options, and then you'll be able to select the right size.
A typical set of handles includes the handle and a pair of different length screws, drill guides and installation instructions. Smart versions, like the Igloohome Smart Mortise 2+ come with a mortice lock with a keypad. These are more complex units and are best suited for professional installers or very adept DIYers. Some handle sets include various other accessories, such as weather strips, that can be used to enhance the appearance of the door.
