Then, carefully remove the battery out of its socket by lifting it on the side closest to the key-ring loop. Use rubber gloves to protect the clips and electronic contact surfaces.

After the battery has been removed, insert the new battery into its socket. Make sure that the positive side of the battery is facing up, and that all clips are in place. Then slide the cover down and towards the key-ring loop section until it becomes loose and then slides off. Then, take off the cover to reveal the key blade hidden inside. This can be used to unlock your car from the driver's seat in the event that you've lost or damaged the key fob.

How to Start Your Vehicle

Note: Older Volvos have a different battery one called the CR2025. CR2025 batteries are 7 tenths of a millimeter less than a CR2032 battery, which means you will need to be aware of the location of your replacement.
