This review focuses on the potential role of algal nutraceuticals as immune boosters to combat the human coronavirus and other viral diseases. Currently, those fingermarks that experts judge to be insufficient for identification are not used as associative evidence. However, recent research has shown large numbers of cases where non-identifiable fingermarks (NIFMs) occur that have high potential associative value. The present work focuses on the resulting questions of, "How useful could associations from NIFMs be in actual practice?" and, "What developments or improvements are needed to take advantage of this very promising potential?" As a first step toward answering these questions, the results of recent research findings on occurrence and associative value of NIFMs were presented to a broad audience of criminal justice participants and stakeholders in the United States, including police investigators, prosecuioners, evidence collection strategies and evidence retention policies.
Coronavirus disease of 2019 (COVID-19) is a lower respiratory tract infection caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). This disease can impact the cardiovascular system and lead to abnormal electrocardiographic (ECG) findings. Emergency clinicians must be aware of the ECG manifestations of COVID-19.

This narrative review outlines the pathophysiology and electrocardiographic findings associated with COVID-19.

COVID-19 is a potentially critical illness associated with a variety of ECG abnormalities, with up to 90% of critically ill patients demonstrating at least one abnormality. The ECG abnormalities in COVID-19 may be due to cytokine storm, hypoxic injury, electrolyte abnormalities, plaque rupture, coronary spasm, microthrombi, or direct endothelial or myocardial injury. While sinus tachycardia is the most common abnormality, others include supraventricular tachycardias such as atrial fibrillation or flutter, ventricular arrhythmias such as ventricular tachycardia or fibrillation, various bradycardias, interval and axis changes, and ST segment and T wave changes. Several ECG presentations are associated with poor outcome, including atrial fibrillation, QT interval prolongation, ST segment and T wave changes, and ventricular tachycardia/fibrillation.

For this, a specific preparation considering several scenarios must be carried out regarding minimization of oil spillages. Since the sorbent materials are decisive for sorption, it was approached the main sorbents natural, graphenic, nano, polymeric and waste materials, and future trends.Given the safety issues associated with flammability characteristics of alternative environmentally-friendly refrigerants, it is vital to establish measurement systems to accurately analyse the flammability of these mildly flammable refrigerants. In this study, we used a customised Hartmann bomb analogue to measure the minimum ignition energy (MIE) and laminar burning velocity (BV) for refrigerant/air mixtures of pure ammonia (R717), R32, R1234yf and mixtures of R32 and R1234yf with non-flammable refrigerants of R134a, R125 and carbon dioxide (R744). The MIEs of R717, R32, and R1234yf were measured at an ambient temperature of 24 °C to be (18.0 ± 1.4), (8.0 ± 1.5) and (510 ± 130) mJ at equivalence ratios of 0.9, 1.27 and 1.33, respectively. Adding the non-flammable refrigerants R134a, R125 and R744 along with R32 at volumetric concentrations of 5% each to R1234yf reduced the latter compound's flammability and increased its MIE by one order of magnitude. The laminar burning velocities of pure R717 and R32 were measured at an equivalence ratio of 1.1 using the flat flame method and found to be 8.4 and 7.4 cm/s, respectively. Adding 5% R1234yf to R32 decreased the laminar burning velocity by 11%, while a further 5% addition of R1234yf resulted in a decrease of over 30% in the laminar burning velocity.REM-sleep behavior disorder (RBD) is a parasomnia and a common sleep disorder in Parkinson's disease (PD). While deep brain stimulation (DBS) is an established treatment for advanced PD with beneficial effects on cardinal PD motor symptoms, the data on the impact of DBS on RBD are limited and often controversial. We reviewed published articles that reported on RBD in the context of DBS surgery via systematic PubMed search. We identified 75 studies and included 12 studies, involving a total of 320 subjects, in our review. Results in respect to EMG activity outcome after subthalamic stimulation are inconsistent. We found no study that reported on RBD outcome after pallidal DBS and no DBS study quantified complex behavior during REM sleep. We also added data on RBD outcome after subthalamic (N = 4 patients) or pallidal (N = 3 patients) DBS from patients with PD with RBD, obtained as part of a prospective DBS study in our centre. Our case series showed an increase of complex behavior during REM (CB-REM) after surgery, independent of DBS target. Conversely, we found a trend towards increasing REM sleep without atonia (RSWA) in subthalamic-stimulated patients and a trend towards decreased RSWA in pallidal stimulated patients. We conclude that CB-REM and RSWA might represent two distinct elements in RBD and should be assessed separately, especially in studies that report on RBD outcome after treatment interventions. Further, larger, prospective, controlled studies in different DBS targets, reporting separately on the different RBD modalities, are needed.
Having a child with chronic respiratory illness and home mechanical ventilation (HMV) may not only affect the ill child, but also the family, including well siblings' everyday life and physical and mental well-being.

To explore the perspectives of parents to a child with HMV on well siblings' lives.

A qualitative phenomenological-hermeneutic approach using semistructured interviews with eight families, that included a child on HMV and well siblings. Data were collected from March to June 2019 at a Danish University Hospital.

Three main themes emerged Tying emotional bonds with both children, Protection of everyday life for well siblings and A different family life - sharing attentiveness. The findings showed that being a parent to an HMV child and well siblings is complex to manage, and may make parents feel inadequate towards their children.

Parents feel inadequate in being parents to both the HMV child and well siblings, often transferring adult responsibilities to the well sibling, and sometimes leaving the well siblings in the shadow.

Clinical practice needs to expand interventions to support parents and well siblings by using a more family-centred care approach, not only during admission, but also in a long-term perspective.

The novel coronavirus outbreak has caused substantial changes in societal norms as well as adjustments in health systems worldwide. To date the impact of these pandemic-related variations has yet to be fully understood also in the field of maternal health for which continuity of care is a proven life-saving preventive measure.

Following the PRISMA guidelines for reviews, a literature search was carried out to assess different approaches that combine quality of maternal care with the imposed social-distancing rules. Nine studies were included in the scoping review.

The impervious transformation and changes in local climatic conditions increase the risk of frequent pluvial flooding in Kathmandu. Therefore, this study aims to assess the integrated impact of urbanisation and climate change on pluvial flooding in Kathmandu Metropolitan City, using the Personal Computer Storm Water Management Model. The future daily rainfall from three Regional Climate Models under two Representative Concentration Pathways (RCPs) and the observed daily data has been disaggregated to hourly series using temporal rainfall disaggregation. The result shows that the combined impact on pluvial flood is likely to intensify with relatively more contribution from climate change. The CNRM-CM5-CSIRO-CCAM under the RCP 4.5 scenario projects the maximum increase (60-90%) in flood volume for current (75%) and extreme (90%) imperviousness, under a 2-year and 20-year return period (RP) with the extent of the flood area increasingWe analyzed freshwater temperature data from 1982 to 2016 throughout Japan to better understand how waters are warming in Japan. We used linear regression to determine the temperature change rate and Mann-Kendall tests to identify significant temporal trends in the annual maximum and mean temperatures. Among 11,240 monitoring sites screened, 159 with fewer missing values were selected for analysis. On the basis of this analysis, we identified and ranked the sites showing significant temporal increasing or decreasing trends for future management. At nearly half (42%) of the analyzed sites, the annual mean freshwater temperature was increasing; thus, in the future, adverse impacts from warm temperatures may increase in those aquatic ecosystems. The temperature change rate of fresh water was higher than that of air, indicating that the observed increases in freshwater temperature were not due to atmospheric warming only. Among individual sites, the annual maximum freshwater temperature change rate ranged from -1.
