The door handles of uPVC/Composite are made of robust materials and are ideal for multi-point lock doors that require a heavy duty design. The handles are inline and operate off the same spindle and screw fixings. They can be easily fitted to doors made of uPVC/Composite, either new or old.

The handle can be placed and angled to fit any user. The handle has been tested for endurance up to 200,000 cycles. This ensures that the quality of finish and performance will last for a long time. The sprung lever can be cut to fit the widest range of locks. This is useful for doors with narrower openings where the cylinder is further back from the door. A lever that is shorter is an ideal choice for doors that have latches that can be opened by a thumb turn on the inside.

Lever Pad

A Lever Pad door handle made of upvc functions differently than lever handles on doors. The handle can work off one single spindle (inline) or independently from both sides using two inline or offset spindles (pad). They are usually used on UPVC doors with double glazing. They come in a variety of finishes & variations.

The handles have been tested to a minimum of 200 000 cycles and are available in a variety of finishes like White, Silver, Chrome & Gold. The finish is BS EN 1670 Grade 5 and resistant to corrosion. This provides the handle with a high performance and durability to serve the purpose it was designed for.

All UPVC handle lever pads come with a spindle, screws and can be installed on a uPVC door. The backplate fixation centres of 211mm allow for a bigger handle, which is often an advantage when replacing a damaged or old multi-point door lock mechanism. These levers for handles are also spring-loaded, thereby solving the issue of handles hanging out of the horizontal position when they are not in use.

When selecting the replacement UPVC handle and spindle, it is essential to match the PZ dimensions of both the multipoint lock and the uPVC door. This measurement can also be called 'handle centres or cylinder centres'. It is important for matching the correct handles.

After you have identified the correct size of PZ it is important to make sure that the push and lever pads are designed to match the American with Disabilities Act compliant handles that you need for your door. These are typically round or square, with an internal lever, and an external push pad.

Euro Cylinder

Cylinder locks are commonly found on uPVC doors, but they can also be found on other types of doors. They work with a key to unlock a cylinder case that will reveal pins that can be aligned with those inside the lock body, allow them to rotate the cam, thereby opening the door. Euro Cylinders can be fitted with up to six pins, with external and internal doors generally having different levels of security.

Choosing the right cylinder is crucial; it depends on the way your doors and handle are used. External doors, for example, should be fitted with cylinders that are more secure, whereas internal doors can be secured using a standard cylinder. In addition, some cylinders come with additional features that increase security, for instance anti-drill and anti-bump characteristics.

To ensure that the euro cylinder is of the right size for your door, it should be measured correctly. The cylinder must be measured from the central screw hole to the ends of the cylinder. This includes the thumb turn, if there is one. It is recommended to do this while the lock is in place however when this isn't possible, you can remove it to measure. It is essential to not have a cylindrical lock that extends beyond the handle or escutcheon. This can make it vulnerable to snapping lock attacks.

Most newer cylinders have been designed with anti-drill and bump resistance features included in their design. These are designed to reduce the risk of attack by forcing the cylinder rotate in an opposite direction. This can to deflect attacks and protect your door.

There are also cylinders that have been made to withstand snapping. This is an increasingly common kind of attack on cylinders where the break line in the lock is targeted by a tool that is specially designed to snap off the front of the cylinder and allow the door to open. This is a quicker and more convenient method of gaining access than using a multipoint locking system. It also leaves less evidence of the break-in which could hinder insurance claims.

Spring Cassette

This spring cassette is found within the base plate of your door handle. It provides a sprung solution to bring your multipoint lock handles to their original position after usage. In the past, a lot of handles did not have a spring built into them, and as a result, they are more likely to slide or 'drop' once the locking mechanism has been disengaged. This component is the best solution to solve this issue. It also helps prevent your upvc door from becoming stuck in either the open or closed position, as they aren't easy to close manually.

The spring cassettes were made to be used with a spring multipoint lock. They will not fit handles that aren't sprung, and you will have to cut a hole into your backplate for them to fit. (Please check the image for a technical diagram). They are a replacement for existing broken or missing cassettes in the backplates of door handles of numerous brands of uPVC doors. They have a square cut-out that can accommodate an 8mm spindle, and are sold as a set.

These spring cassettes provide an excellent value solution for the issue of door handles that have become sagging. They are simple to put in and will increase the lifespan of your uPVC doors.
