Endovascular balloon angioplasty is standard therapy for dysfunctional arteriovenous fistula in end-stage renal failure patients on hemodialysis. Venous antegrade or retrograde puncture of the fistula is typically performed to gain access for fistuloplasty. Transradial approach for brachiocephalic or brachiobasilic arteriovenous fistulas offers an alternative method of access with the advantage of addressing multi-focal juxta-anastomotic and venous stenosis from the same approach. We aim to review the efficacy, outcomes and complication rates of transradial access for arteriovenous fistuloplasty among patients in Singapore.

A retrospective review of 195 endovascular fistuloplasties from September 2017 to August 2019, at a tertiary university hospital Vascular Surgery unit.

Of 195 fistuloplasties, 43 (22%) were transradial approach (23 brachiocephalic arteriovenous fistulas, 20 brachiobasilic arteriovenous fistulas) in 33 patients (67% male and mean age = 65 years). Of these 43 procedures, 11 (26%) were performed as balloon-assisted maturation fistuloplasties while 32 (74%) were performed for mature arteriovenous fistulas with multi-focal juxta-anastomosis and venous stenosis. Technical success rate was 95% with mean procedure duration at 43.5 ± 14.6 min. Mean pre- and post-fistuloplasty dialysis access flow rates increased from 502 to 952 ml/min (p < 0.001). Post-intervention primary patency was 100%, 66% and 20% at 1, 6 and 12 months, respectively. There were four patients with non-limb-threatening radial artery thrombosis (9.3%) while there was no radial artery pseudoaneurysm or post-procedural bleeding.

COVID-19 is thought to be the most significant public health threat the modern world has encountered. Health care workers (HCWs) face enormous pressure due to work overload, negative emotions, exhaustion, lack of contact with their families, and risk of catching the infection and death.

This study aims to assess the level of stress perceived by HCWs and possible associated factors during the COVID-19 outbreak in Palestine.

A cross-sectional sample of 430 frontlines HCWs was conducted using an online self-reported questionnaire. HCWs' stress from the COVID-19 outbreak, factors that increase stress, and the activities that reduced stress were assessed. Chi-square test was used to compare between a categorical variable and the study outcome; associations are presented as odds ratios (OR) and confidence intervals (95% CI) with 0.05 significance level. Al-Najah National University institutional review board granted ethics approval.

Most respondents (74.0%) reported high-stress levels during the outbreak. Fear of transmitting the virus to family was the most stressful factor (91.6%). HCWs who did not have training on the outbreak response were more likely to have high-stress levels (OR = 2.7 [95% CI = 1.7-4.4],
 < .001). Those with high stress reported being disappointed (OR = 2.4 [95% CI = 1.5-3.6],
 < .001), and strongly considered taking sick leave (OR = 3.9 [95% CI = 1.9-7.9],
 < .001).

To address these challenges, we envisioned a pre-formed keratin microparticle on which cells could be seeded, while other payloads (e.g. drugs, growth factors or other biologic compounds) could be contained within, although studies investigating the potential partitioning between phases during emulsion polymerization would need to be conducted. To identify factors associated with delayed adherence to follow-up in lung cancer screening.

Utilizing a data warehouse and lung cancer screening registry, variables were collected from a referred sample of 3110 unique participants with follow-up CT during the study period (1 January 2016 to 17 October 2018). 120 children from 6 to 12 years with subthreshold ADHD were enrolled in this 12-week, double-blind, randomized, placebocontrolled study. The primary outcome was measured by Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder Rating Scale (ADHD-RS). Children Behavior Check List (CBCL), and neuropsychological tests assessing attention, memory, and executive function were included as secondary primary outcome measures.

Significant effects on the scores of ADHDRS, as well as several subscales of CBCL including ADHD and attention problem subscales were revealed.

The purpose is to understand the natural history and physical findings in thyroid eye disease (TED) patients with severe dry eye symptoms (DES).

Prospective cohort study, studying DES in TED patients over two years. Baseline data included clinical activity score (CAS), time since disease onset, punctate epithelial erosions (PEE), lagophthalmos, superior limbic keratoconjunctivitis (SLK), and marginal reflex distance 1 (MRD1). Ocular Surface Disease Index (OSDI) was utilized to measure symptomatology and scores > 33 (severe) were the primary outcome measure. Multivariate logistic regression was performed on two groups (<9months, >9months) to assess if variables change in early versus late disease.

Parkinson's disease (PD) is a progressive neurodegenerative disorder. The major causative factors that progress the PD are age, genetic abnormalities, environmental factors and degeneration of dopamine neurons in substantia nigra. PD normally exerts a tonic inhibitory effect on striatal cholinergic interneurons. Anticholinergics act by normalizing the disequilibrium between striatal dopamine and acetylcholine-resulted reduction in tremors.

This study sought to evaluate the anti-Parkinson potential of dicyclomine in haloperidol (HAL)- and paraquat (PQT)-induced Parkinsonism models in mice.

Sixty albino mice were divided into six groups (
 = 10) for each model. Group I received distilled water 1 mL/kg, Group II diseased group received HAL (1 mg/kg) for consecutive 21 days and PQT (2 mg/kg) every three days for three weeks, Group III treated with sinemet (20 mg/kg), Group IV-VI received 40, 80 and 160 mg/kg dose of dicyclomine, respectively, for consecutive 21 days. The effect of treatments on spontaneous locomotor activity and motor co-ordination was evaluated by using open field, rotarod, actophotometer and light and dark box tests. Cataleptic behavior was estimated by the block method and triple horizontal bar apparatus. Biochemical markers of oxidative stress and levels of neurotransmitters were estimated.

Findings from this study showed that dicyclomine at highest dose level of 160 mg/kg prevented HAL- and PQT-induced PD through enhancement of antioxidant defense system.
