93% to 74.30%). However, in line with our hypothesis, frequency band clusters transiently emerged in parieto-occipital regions within two separate time windows for alpha-/beta-band (relative synchronization from approximately 200 to 600 ms) and for the delta-/theta-band (relative desynchronization from approximately 600 to 1000 ms). Overall, these findings highlight concurrent sustained and transient measurable features of working memory load. This could reflect the emergence of stability within and between functional networks of the complex working memory system. In turn, this process allows energy savings to cope with external demands.Multi-sectoral collaboration is widely considered essential for age-friendly community change; however, there has been little empirical research to describe the ways in which organizations interact as part of age-friendly community initiatives (AFCIs). We conducted a qualitative descriptive study using data from multiple waves of semi-structured interviews with core teams of eight grant-funded AFCIs in the north-eastern U.S. We employed iterative, inductive coding to systematically describe ways in which AFCI core teams described working with other organizational entities. Findings indicated two overarching themes (a) helping each other (giving and receiving linking, informational, and instrumental assistance), and (b) doing something together (organizing community events, planning collaborative projects, participating in meetings). We discuss the implications of this characterization for guiding research, evaluation, and policy to optimize AFCI implementation and impact across diverse settings.Besides radically altering work, advances in automation and intelligent technologies have the potential to bring significant societal transformation. These transitional periods require an approach to analysis and design that goes beyond human-machine interaction in the workplace to consider the wider sociotechnical needs of envisioned work systems. The Sociotechnical Influences Space, an analytical tool motivated by Rasmussen's risk management model, promotes a holistic approach to the design of future systems, attending to societal needs and challenges, while still recognising the bottom-up push from emerging technologies. A study explores the concept and practical potential of the tool when applied to the analysis of a large-scale, 'real-world' problem, specifically the societal, governmental, regulatory, organisational, human, and technological factors of significance in mixed human-artificial agent workforces. Further research is needed to establish the feasibility of the tool in a range of application domains, the details of the method, and the value of the tool in design. Practitioner summary Emerging automation and intelligent technologies are not only transforming workplaces, but may be harbingers of major societal change. A new analytical tool, the Sociotechnical Influences Space, is proposed to support organisations in taking a holistic approach to the incorporation of advanced technologies into workplaces and function allocation in mixed human-artificial agent teams.
The aim of this review was to highlight jaw-related complications in COVID-19 manifestations, their etiology, and prevention methods.

A systematic review of literature was conducted. MEDLINE/PubMed, and Google Scholar were searched for the following keywords "COVID-19" "Oral manifestations", "Musculoskeletal patients", "Mandible", "Jaw", "Osteonecrosis", "MRONJ", and "dry socket".

Only nine articles were included in this review. selleck inhibitor Jaw-related disorders associated with COVID-19 were dry socket, osteonecrosis, and orofacial pain related to temporomandibular joint disorders (TMD) and giant cell arteritis (GCA).

COVID-19 potentially predisposes to osteonecrosis due to thrombotic inflammatory phenomena caused by the disease itself or its therapeutic modalities. All jaw osteonecrosis cases reported so far in relation to COVID-19 affected the upper jaw. Orofacial pain in COVID-19 patients was related to TMD and GCA. Clinical evidence-based studies are required to investigate the actual prevalence and possible correlation between COVID-19 and jaw-related disorders.

The benefit of thrombectomy (TE) for acute ischemic stroke (AIS) in patients suffering basilar artery occlusion (BAO) is still unclear. Our aim was to analyze functional outcome after 3 months in BAO compared to anterior circulation large vessel occlusion (ACLVO) in a nationwide registry.

Patients enrolled into the Austrian Endostroke Registry from 2013 to 2018 were analyzed. We used propensity score matching to control for imbalances and to compare patients with BAO and ACLVO. The primary outcome was favorable functional outcome after 3 months measured by the modified Rankin Scale (mRS) (0-2). Multivariate models were applied to estimate the effect of localization (BAO vs ACLVO).

In total, 2288 patients underwent TE for AIS with proximal vessel occlusion, of these 267 with BAO. Two hundred and sixty-four patients with BAO were matched to 264 patients with ACLVO. Baseline characteristics were well-balanced. The 90-day mortality did not significantly differ between patients with BAO and ACLVO. In a multivariate logistic regression model, we did not detect a significant difference in functional outcome between BAO and ACLVO (odds ratio for favorable outcome defined as mRS = 0-2 1.19; 95% confidence interval (CI) = 0.78-1.81;
 = 0.42). In patients with an onset-to-door-time ⩾270 min, TE of BAO was associated with poor functional outcome defined as mRS 3-6 (odds ratio (OR) = 3.97; 95% CI = 1.32-11.94;
 = 0.01) as compared to ACLVO.

In this study, functional outcome did not differ after TE in patients with BAO and ACLVO overall; however, we detected an association of BAO with poor outcome in patients arriving late.

However, little is known about the relationships between MTPJ stiffness and take-off related variables. This study examined the relationship between individual MTPJ stiffness and biomechanical variables under various vertical countermovement jumps (CMJ) conditions. We measured MTPJ stiffness on 21 male university basketball players and then asked them to perform jumps under single, consecutive and running CMJ conditions. Pearson's correlation coefficient was employed to examine the relationships between MTP passive stiffness and each jumping performance, ground reaction force (GRF) and joint kinematic and kinetic variables. The results indicated that MTPJ stiffness significantly correlated with maximum jump height (r = 0.49, moderate), peak take-off velocity (r = 0.47, moderate), peak take-off ankle plantarflexion moment (r = 0.68, strong), peak dorsiflexion moment (r = 0.60, strong) and peak take-off ankle power (r = 0.44, moderate) in consecutive CMJ. Only a moderate correlation between MTPJ stiffness and peak MTPJ extension take-off velocity (r = -0.46, moderate) was determined in a single CMJ. There were no significant correlations found in running CMJ conditions. These findings imply that higher MTPJ stiffness of participants was related to improved jump performances in consecutive jumps.Empathy is frequently described in opposition to rationality. Yet in two studies, we demonstrate that the relationship between rationality and empathy is nuanced and likely context dependent. Study 1 reports correlational data from two American samples and Study 2 presents a meta-analysis of existing literature (k = 22). We demonstrate that various types of cognitive empathy (perspective-taking, emotion recognition, and fantasy) are positively correlated with self-reported rationality, but unrelated to rational performance. In contrast, types of emotional empathy (empathic concern, personal distress, and emotion contagion) are generally negatively correlated with performance measures of rationality, but their relationships with self-reported rationality are divergent. Although these results do not settle the debate on empathy and rationality, they challenge the opposing domains hypothesis and provide tentative support for a dual-process model of empathy. Overall, these results indicate that the relationship between rationality and empathy differs depending upon how rationality and empathy are measured.
Tirofiban, a glycoprotein IIb/IIIa receptor inhibitor, has been shown to reduce the risk of thrombotic complications during percutaneous coronary intervention. However, it remains unknown whether tirofiban improves outcomes in large vessel occlusion stroke patients undergoing endovascular treatment.

This trial aims to assess whether additional intravenous tirofiban therapy can improve the clinical outcomes in large vessel occlusion stroke patients who undergo endovascular treatment within 24 h of symptom onset.

The Endovascular Treatment With versus Without Tirofiban for Stroke Patients With Large Vessel Occlusion (RESCUE BT) Trial is an investigator-initiated, randomized, placebo-controlled, double-blind, multicenter trial. Up to 930 eligible patients will be consecutively randomized to intravenous tirofiban or placebo in 11 ratio over 3 years across 50 endovascular-capable stroke centers in China.

The primary end point is the disability level as measured by overall distribution of the 90-day modified Rankin Scale scores. Primary safety end points include symptomatic intracerebral hemorrhage at 48 h and mortality at 90 days.

We used two waves of the NIDI Pension Panel Survey, conducted in 2015 and 2018, in the Netherlands. Data from 1,247 older workers, of whom 10% opted for phased retirement, were analyzed. Vitality is assessed in three ways a composite measure of vitality, and its subcomponents energy and fatigue. Conditional change regression models demonstrated that transitioning into phased retirement improved vitality and energy levels and reduced fatigue. Older workers with low energy levels at baseline showed greater improvements in energy after using phased retirement this result was not evident for those with low vitality and high fatigue at baseline. Phased retirement improved vitality for workers with high work strain. Vitality for workers with family or health strain was not improved. Interestingly, the positive effects of phased retirement were equally visible among workers with and without adverse health conditions and caregiving responsibilities.
