It was confirmed that red colour regions display Raman band wavenumber shifts with excitation wavelength, whereas yellow regions do not. There was, however, one yellow region (Calyptorhynchus banksii) that did display wavenumber shifting with excitation wavelength. The data in Raman band wavenumber shifting is observed may be interpreted as probing sample volumes in which a number of dyes of differing length are present in which comparative resonance Raman signals select out the dyes to differing extents depending on their absorption profile, structurally changes between the ground and excited state and the Raman scattering of particular modes. The observed spectral features suggest the presence of a psittacofulvin with greater conjugation than has been reported previously.Fungi resemble less than one percent of all periprosthetic joint infections (PJI). While Candida PJI is well described, Aspergillus PJI has only been reported in a few cases without any systematic analysis present at this point. This review aims to systematically summarize and describe all cases of Aspergillus PJI. The systematic review used PubMed and Cochrane Library to identify case reports and studies eligible for inclusion. One additional case was reported by the authors. T-, Mann-Whitney U- and Fisher-exact tests were used for calculations. Overall, 11 cases of Aspergillus PJI were identified, and ten could be included for a detailed analysis (four hip, four knee, one elbow, one PIP-arthroplasty infection). A. fumigatus was identified in four, A. terreus in three, and A. niger in two cases. The average patient age at time of Aspergillus spp. diagnosis was 64.1 years (32-83) and the mean time from primary implantation to Aspergillus PJI 5.2 years (1-16). The calculated CCI was 2.7 (0-6). Surgery included one-, two-, three-stage-, and spacer-exchange, debridement and resection arthroplasty. Four patients were treated with a triazole for an average of three months, three with amphotericin (mean eight weeks), one with both amphotericin (six weeks) and triazole (seven months). In one patient, reinfection with Coagulase Negative Staphylococci following Aspergillus PJI treatment was noted after four years. A. terreus (p = .048) was associated with failed prosthesis reimplantation (n = 4). To give a resume, Aspergillus PJI is a rare, yet severe complication, with heterogeneous clinical presentation. Complete prosthesis removal is the treatment of choice.Mucormycosis is a life-threatening disease responsible for a high mortality rate. The disease usually affects immuno-compromised patients. While all sites might be involved, gastrointestinal disease is rare, occurring for 5% to 13% of all mucormycosis cases. We report herein the fifth case of splenic and gastric mucormycosis revealed after gastric perforation and the first case occurring among an immuno-competent patient, and we review all reported cases of splenic mucormycosis by searching PubMed publications till October 2020. selleck The literature search yielded 27 cases of splenic mucormycosis including our case. The majority of the cases had underlying immuno-compromised conditions, except for 6 cases, including ours. A male predominance was noted (22 cases). Involvement of the spleen and the stomach was rare, occurring among four immuno-compromised patients. The outcome was death in more than half of the cases. Splenic and gastric mucormycosis is a rare disease. The diagnosis of splenic mucormycosis should be considered in front of splenic lesions suggesting abscess or infarction, especially among immuno-compromised patients. The emissions from agricultural activities significantly impact the air quality at local (rural) and regional scales. The study monitored the near real-time concentrations of emission from agrarian activities, i.e., particulate matter (PM10, PM2.5, PM1), traces gases and VOCs, along with meteorological parameters in a rural area of Indo-Gangetic Plains (IGP). As different agricultural activities take place simultaneously in the region, sampling period was divided into three phases based on regional agricultural activities as HB (harvesting-burning) period, BTS (burning-tillage-sowing) period and PFS (pesticide-fertilizer spray) period. The highest mean concentration (± standard deviation) of particulate matter, i.e., PM10, PM2.5, PM1 was observed during HB period as 151.0 ± 52.3, 94.7 ± 32.9 and 41.0 ± 16.3 μgm-3 followed by PFS as 121.7 ± 49.1, 87.8 ± 35.5 and 39.7 ± 15.7 μgm-3 and BTS period as 92.5 ± 38.8, 63.5 ± 28.4, 26.6 ± 10.9 μgm-3 respectively. The mean concentration of NO (8.4 ± 3.4 ppb), SO2 (5.8 ±ation strategies.Urban surface water flooding is increasing because of climate change and urbanization, and brings great challenges to urban sustainable development. It is, therefore, most important to develop urban flood management approaches to alleviate the consequences of floods. China is implementing a "sponge city" initiative to tackle urban surface water flooding and improve urban water management. There is, however, limited cost-effectiveness evaluation to support the choice of economically efficient mitigation strategies. To address this gap, this study developed an evaluation framework based on cellular automata and cost-benefit analysis to assess the performance of mitigation strategies in sponge city construction. This approach is demonstrated with a case study of Siergou (Dalian, China), which has a total area of 10.1 km2. The mitigation measures of green roofs, permeable pavements and bio-retention were used to generate mitigation scenarios. A two-dimensional cellular automata-based model was used to simulate urban surface water flooding. The results obtained from the case study indicate that the framework can achieve cost-effective mitigation strategies for sponge city construction, which can support robust decision making. The distribution of mitigation strategies has great impacts on the effectiveness of alleviating urban flood risk. This study provides new insight into the development of cost-effective mitigation strategies for sponge city construction.Emerging organic pollutants (EOPs) in urban rivers have raised concerns regarding their eco-toxicological effects. However, the bacterioplankton community disturbances caused by EOPs in urban rivers and the associated ecological mechanisms remain unclear. This study provided profiles of the spatial distribution of a bacterioplankton community disturbed by human activity along an urban river. The results showed that EOP concentration and composition were differently distributed in residential and industrial areas, which significantly influenced bacterioplankton community structure. Based on redundancy analysis, parabens (methylparaben and propylparaben) were the major factors driving bacterioplankton community changes. Parabens inhibited gram-positive bacteria and promoted oxidative stress-tolerant bacteria in the river ecosystem. Parabens also disturbed ecological processes of bacterioplankton community assembly, shifting from a homogeneous selection (consistent selection pressure under similar environmental condition) to stochastic processes (random changes due to birth, death, immigration, and emigration) with changing in paraben concentrations. Heterogeneous selection was predicted to dominate microbial community assembly with paraben concentration changes exceeding 61.6 ng/L, which could deteriorate the river ecosystem. Furthermore, specific bacterial genera were identified as potential bioindicators to assess the condition of EOP contaminants in the river. Overall, this study highlights significant disturbances in bacterioplankton communities by EOPs at environmental concentrations, and our results could facilitate generation of appropriate management strategies aimed at EOPs in urban rivers.Human industrialization has resulted in rapid climate change, leading to wide-scale environmental shifts. These shifts can modify food web dynamics by altering the abundance and distribution of primary producers (ice algae and phytoplankton), as well as animals at higher trophic levels. Methylmercury (MeHg) is a neuro-endocrine disrupting compound which biomagnifies in animals as a function of prey choice, and as such bioavailability is affected by altered food web dynamics and adds an important risk-based dimension in studies of foraging ecology. Multidimensional niche dynamics (MDND; δ13C, δ15N, THg; total mercury) were determined among breeding common eider (Somateria mollissima) ducks sampled from 10 breeding colonies distributed across the circumpolar Arctic and subarctic. Results showed high variation in MDND among colonies as indicated by niche size and ranges in δ13C, δ15N and THg values in relation to spatial differences in primary production inferred from sea-ice presence and colony migratory status. Colonies with higher sea-ice cover during the pre-incubation period had higher median colony THg, δ15N, and δ13C. Individuals at migratory colonies had relatively higher THg and δ15N, and lower δ13C, suggesting a higher trophic position and a greater reliance on phytoplankton-based prey. It was concluded that variation in MDND exists among eider colonies which influenced individual blood THg concentrations. Further exploration of spatial ecotoxicology and MDND at each individual site is important to examine the relationships between anthropogenic activities, foraging behaviour, and the related risks of contaminant exposure at even low, sub-lethal concentrations that may contribute to deleterious effects on population stability over time. Overall, multidimensional niche analysis that incorporates multiple isotopic and contaminant metrics could help identify those populations at risk to rapidly altered food web dynamics.Microalgae are recognized as potential candidates for resource recovery from wastewater and projected for biorefinery models. This study was undertaken to evaluate the potential of poultry litter and municipal wastewater as nutrient and water sources, for the cultivation of Acutodesmus obliquus for lipids production for biodiesel application. The efficacy of lipid extracted biomass (LEA) as fertilizer for mung bean crops was also assessed in microcosm. A. obliquus cultivation in acid pre-treated poultry litter extract (PPLE) showed maximum biomass production of 1.90 g L-1, which was 74.67% and 12.61% higher than the raw poultry litter extract (RPPE) and BG11 respectively. Higher NO3-N, NH3-N, and PO4-P removal of 79.51%, 81.82%, and 80.52% respectively were observed in PPLE as compared to RPLE treatment. The highest biomass (140.36 mg L-1 d-1), lipids (38.49 mg L-1 d-1), and carbohydrates (49.55 mg L-1 d-1) productivities were observed in the PPLE medium. The application of LEA as a fertilizer for mung bean crops showed improvement in plant growth and soil microbial activity.
