In the current article, the electronic, magnetic, and optical properties of GdP in the hypothetical zinc blende structure have been discussed by using GGA, GGA+U, mBJ, GGA+SOC, and GGA+SOC+U approaches. The energy vs volume plots in the three magnetic states suggest the ferromagnetic phase to be the stable phase of GdP. The cohesive energy calculated for GdP is negative, suggesting the stability of the compound. The electronic band structure calculations predict the binary GdP to be a direct bandgap conventional semiconductor. The optical properties confirm the semiconducting properties of GdP, and the bandgap formation follows Penn's criteria. The elastic constants also confirm the stability of the compound with ductile nature. The thermodynamic properties including Debye temperature, entropy, and specific heat capacity are studied under varying hydrostatic pressures taking into account the quasi-harmonic Debye model. The doping of Cu in the supercell of GdP results in the compound to exhibit half-metallic ferromagnetic properties. The magnetic moments calculated for CuxGd1-xP (x = 0.25) are integer-valued backing its half-metallic character and fit excellent with the Slauter-Pauling rule Zt-8. GdP in the zinc blende structure can prove a potential candidate for optoelectronic devices having better reflectivity in the UV region whereas its doped compounds have the potential to exhibit half-metallic properties useful in spintronics.Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is a pandemic outbreak increasing several psychological distress, such as anxiety and phobia, and may affect patients with anxiety disorders. A scale has been recently designed to assess COVID-19-related phobic reactions named the COVID-19 Phobia Scale (C19P-S). The present study aimed to evaluate factor structure, reliability, and validity of the Persian version of the C19P-S (Persian-C19P-S) in patients with anxiety disorders and to compare COVID-19-related phobia among these patients. Three hundred patients with anxiety disorders completed the Persian-C19P-S and other scales assessing anxiety traits (e.g., the Short Health Anxiety Inventory (SHAI), the Health Concerns Questionnaire-54 (HCQ-54), and the Patient Health Questionnaire-4 (PHQ-4)) and COVID-19-related distress (e.g., the COVID Stress Scales (CSS) and the Fear of COVID-19 Scale (FCV-19)). The results showed that the Persian-C19P-S replicated the four-factor structure of the original C19P-S. Internal consistency and test-retest reliability coefficients evidenced the reliability of the scale. The validity of the scale (convergent and discriminant validity) was confirmed. Patients who had generalized anxiety and panic disorders showed higher phobic reactions related to COVID-19 than those with social anxiety disorder and specific phobia. This study indicates that the Persian version of the C19P-S is a valid scale to be used in Iranian patients with anxiety disorders to evaluate COVID-19-related phobia. selleck chemical Moreover, COVID-19-related phobic reactions are higher in some specific types of anxiety disorders. The present study investigates the mediating role of sense of control in the relationship between fear of COVID-19 and flourishing. A cross-sectional study design was employed and a total of 368 international students studying in Turkey consented to voluntarily take part in the study. The participants who were identified using convenience sampling completed the Fear of COVID-19 Scale, Flourishing Scale, and Sense of Control Scale after providing written informed consent. Results indicated that sense of control was positively correlated with fear of COVID-19 and flourishing. It was also observed that a negative correlation was found between the fear of COVID-19 and flourishing. Mediation analysis revealed that sense of control partially mediates the association between fear of COVID-19 and flourishing. The study encourages mental health professionals to consider the role of sense of control in their psychological interventions to reduce fear of COVID-19 and enhance flourishing among international students.Among many approaches for selecting match control cases, few methods exist for natural experiments (Li, Zaslavsky & Landrum, 2007), especially when studying clustered or hierarchical data. The lack of randomization of treatment exposure gives importance to using proper statistical procedures that control for individual differences. In this natural experimental study, which has a hierarchical structure, we plan to evaluate the efforts of 455 counties across the United States to make targeted efforts to improve mental health services and reduce jail utilization over time. Nested within states, counties are clustered on health and social indicators, which affect the likelihood of making improvements in these areas. Similar to a randomized trial, prior to collecting survey data, it is necessary to identify matched control counties as study sites based on an array of state and county covariates. Accounting for the hierarchal structure of data, a blend of various probability-based models are presented to achieve this goal. Methods include multivariable models that control for observed differences among treatment and control groups, shrinkage based LASSO as a variable selection technique, and logistic models.
Prior outbreaks of respiratory viruses have demonstrated the need for adequate personal protective equipment (PPE) for healthcare workers, particularly filtering facepiece respirators (FFR). Due to shortfalls of PPE during the SARS CoV-2 pandemic, the need for FFR decontamination and reuse (FFR-DR) strategies is paramount. This paper aims to discuss primary decontamination strategies, with an in-depth analysis of ultraviolet germicidal irradiation (UVGI), arriving at the decontamination strategy utilized at the Nebraska Medical Center (NMC).
Review of the primary literature in regard to FFR-DR as well as a synopsis of the current protocol for FFR-DR at NMC.
UVGI demonstrates effective decontamination of multiple pathogens-including several human respiratory viruses-while maintaining mask integrity and filtering capacity. UVGI was associated with degradation of strap integrity at higher doses than that utilized for decontamination or with reuse beyond 20 times.
UVGI effectively decontaminates N95 FFRs without significant reduction to fit or strap integrity and can be employed as a strategy for FFR-DR in times of emergency.

The fully automated RTip tracker is designed for high-throughput analysis of plant phenotyping experiments with episodic perturbations. RTip is able to auto-skip past these manual intervention perturbation activity, i.e. when the root tip is not under the microscope, image is distorted or blurred. RTip provides the most accurate root growth velocity results with the lowest variance (i.e. localization jitter) compared to six tracking algorithms including the top performing unsupervised Discriminative Correlation Filter Tracker and the Deeper and Wider Siamese Network. RTip is the only tracker that is able to automatically detect and recover from (occlusion-like) varying duration perturbation events.Chronic and acute stress may have a detrimental effect on children's physical activity. Research on stress as a predictor of children's physical activity has mostly focused on stress between children, rather than how children's within-day variation in stress may predict physical activity. The current study assessed the within- and between-effects of stress on subsequent physical activity in three different time windows using ecological momentary assessment (EMA) and accelerometry. Children (N = 190; MBaseline Age =10.1±0.9, 53% female, 56% self-identified Hispanic/Latino) completed six semi-annual assessment bursts across three years. During each burst, participants responded to up to seven (weekend) or three (weekday) randomly prompted EMA surveys on smartphones for seven days and wore a waist-worn accelerometer. Multi-level structural equation modeling examined within- and between-subjects effects of stress as a predictor of children's subsequent moderate-to-vigorous physical activity (MVPA) in the 15, 30, and 60 minutes following the EMA prompt. Latent variables were created for within- and between-subjects stress were comprised of three EMA stress items. Higher than average levels of stress (within-subjects) significantly predicted lower MVPA in the subsequent 15, 30 and 60 minutes (ps .05). Results indicate that elevated momentary stress predicts less subsequent MVPA. These findings suggest that within-day fluctuations in stress may be a barrier for children engaging in physical activity. Childhood physical activity promotion and interventions should consider the role of children's stress, aim to reduce the stress children experience throughout the day, and incorporate stress coping strategies.By late January 2020, the 2019 novel coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) had reached Europe and most European countries had registered cases by March 1. However, the spread of the virus has been uneven in both prevalence and speed of propagation. We analyse the association of social, economic, and demographic factors in the initial spread of the coronavirus disease COVID-19 across 23 European countries between March 1 and April 30, 2020. Diagnosed COVID-19 cases from Johns Hopkins University and data from the European Social Survey and other sources were used to estimate bivariate associations between cumulative reported case numbers at ten-day intervals and nine social, demographic, and economic variables. To avoid overfitting, we first reduce these variables to three factors by factor analysis before conducting a multiple regression analysis. We also perform a sensitivity analysis using rates and new cases between two time periods. Results showed that social and economic factors are strongly and positively associated with COVID-19 throughout the studied period, while the association with population density and cultural factors was initially low, but by April, was higher than the earlier mentioned factors. For future influenza-like pandemics, implementing strict movement restrictions from early on will be crucial to curb the spread of such diseases in economically, socially, and culturally vibrant and densely populated countries.

The current best phenomenological estimate has an uncertainty comparable to the experimental one and the error is completely dominated by hadronic effects the leading order hadronic vacuum polarization (HVP) contribution and the hadronic light-by-light (HLbL) scattering contribution. Both are accessible via lattice simulations and a reduction of the error by a factor 4 is required in view of the forthcoming experiments at Fermilab and J-PARC whose results, expected in the next few years, should reduce the experimental precision down to the level of 0.14 ppm. In this article, I review the status of lattice calculations of those quantities, starting with the HVP. This contribution has now reached sub-percent precision and requires a careful understanding of all sources of systematic errors.
