Toxicological connection between thimerosal about rat renal: the histological along with biochemical review.
Group 4 was treated with FVSE and CBZ. Normal mice of group 5 and 6 were subjected to NSSE and FVSE respectively. Body weight gain was significantly decreased in mice of group 2. In mice of group 2, significant declines of RBC, HB, Hct, WBC, total protein, FSH, LH, testosterone, T4, T3, CAT and SOD were observed. Moreover, the levels of ALT, AST, ALP, total bilirubin, creatinine, BUN, uric acid, glucose, cholesterol, CK, LDH, MDA and GSH were significantly enhanced. Treatment with NSSE and FVSE showed attenuation effects against CBZ induced hematological and biochemical changes. The results suggest that the attenuation effects of NSSE and FVSE attributed to their antioxidant properties.Couple of ethnopharmacological surveys in the Indian Ladakh and Pakistani Shigar valleys has reported the medicinal use of Acantholimon lycopodioides against cardiac and gastric disorders that however, remains without scientific rationale or experimental validations. Here, we assess the in vitro bio/therapeutic activities of A. lycopodioides extracts as well as chloroform, ethyl acetate, n-butanol and aqueous fractions. The in vitro β-carotene-linoleic acid bleaching and DPPH radical scavenging methods demonstrated a very high anti-oxidative property of chloroform and ethyl acetate fractions compared to others. Cell viability assay (MTT) on human cervical (HeLa), breast (MDA-MB321) and liver (HepG2) cancer cells revealed their differential cytotoxicity, except the chloroform fraction. Of these, the precipitate exerted highest cytotoxicity on HepG2 cells followed by aqueous fraction on MDA-MB321 cells. Notably, the non-cytotoxicity of chloroform fraction coincided with its highest anti-oxidative activity. Further, the chloroform fraction showed marked hepatoprotection (up to 84%) against 3'7'dichlorofluorescin triggered free radicals induced oxidative damage. Also, the hepatoprotective chloroform fraction mildly activated CYP3A4 in HepG2 cells (dual-luciferase assay). Moreover, the A. lycopodioides extracts and fractions showed differential anti-bacterial and anti-fungal activities. Of these, while S. aureus was more sensitive to the water-insoluble extract, ethyl acetate fraction showed moderate activity against E. coli and C. albicans. On the other hand, the chloroform fraction showed promising activity against S. Aureus, C. albicans, P. vulgaris and E. faecalis. In conclusion, our data for the first time, demonstrated promising anti-oxidative, hepatoprotective, anti-cancer, anti-microbial and CYP3A4 activating salutations of A. lycopodioides. This warrants further studies towards isolation and identification of its therapeutically active principles.Universally, obesity has been affected more than 650 million and converts as global health problem. Obesity is equally affecting starting from children to elder population. Obese subjects are converting into severe obese and then into morbid obesity. Body mass index is proning from 30 to 50 kg/m2 in the adult population. Obesity is connected with the future complications of hypertension, type 2 diabetes mellitus, cardiovascular, stroke, osteoarthritis, obstructive sleep apnea and liver diseases. Loosing of body fat is the only option to avoid obesity and this could be achieved with routine physical activity and diet modifications. Obesity subjects may fail to achieve the daily routine activities or insufficient activity may be involved and finally fail to lose the body fat after the medical course. Then these severe or morbidity obese can be lose with the existing surgery. Currently, Bariatric Surgery (BS) has become the active treatment for long-term weight loss. Various types (Roux-en-Y gastric bypass, sleeve gastrectomy and duodenal switch and the jejunoileal bypass) of BS are performed on the gastrointestinal tract. Throughout the world population, BS has found to be safe in losing the weight and avoiding the future and long-term complications. The prevalence of overweight and obesity in Saudi Arabia is an issue in terms of incidence and health consequences. Maximum obesity studies involved in Saudi Arabia has proven to be develop the long-term complications in the future involving from child to morbid obesity. Limited bariatric studies carried out in the Saudi subjects confirmed as effective tool in lowering the body fat and avoiding the life-threatened complications of human diseases. So, this review recommends BS as effective and safe surgical treatment to lose body fat in the Saudi population. However, post-operative monitoring is mandatory to follow-up.The sorption capacity of cadmium (Cd (II)) on three new generated nanocomposite beads sodium alginate (SA) based; SA-Clay (SA-C) beads, SA-Phosphate (SA-P) beads, and SA- Activated Charcoal (SA-Ch) beads was investigated in a batch scale, then a continuous flow reactor. The highest adsorption capacity (137 mg/g) was obtained for SA-Ch using 1000 mg/L of initial Cd (II). The isotherm results showed that the adsorption equilibrium is compatible with the Langmuir isotherm and the sorption capacity of SA-Nano-adsorbent beads is very high. The models used for representing kinetic data was given that the removal of Cd (II) be well-fitted by second-order reaction kinetics. For the fixed bed column treatment, the maximum breakthrough times were 30, 38, and 48  h respectively for the SA-C, SA-P, and SA-Ch. According to the obtained results, it was concluded that SA-Nano-adsorbent bead is an excellent designed material as a nanocomposite for cadmium elimination from wastewater in a continuous treatment process.Saudi Arabia is one of the countries that has been affected by COVID-19. At the beginning of March 2020, it revealed a steadily rising number of laboratory-confirmed cases. By 20th May 2020, 59,854 infected cases had been confirmed, with 329 deaths. To prevent a further outbreak of COVID-19, this article discusses the current understanding of COVID-19 and compares it with the outbreak of Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS) in 2012 in Saudi Arabia. It also discusses the causes, transmission, symptoms, diagnosis, treatments and prevention measures to identify an applicable measure to control COVID-19.During a mycological survey of aquatic hyphomycetes on submerged decaying leaves in southwest China, a distinct new fungus was collected. The collection was cultured and sequenced and a BLAST search of its ITS and LSU sequence against data in GenBank revealed a dothideomycetous affiliation, with the closest related taxa in the genus Neodactylaria. Phylogenetic analyses of a multigene matrix containing sequences from four genes (LSU, SSU, rpb2, and tef1), representing broad groups of Dothideomycetes, revealed its placement within Dothideomycetes, but without a supported familial or ordinal affiliation. Based on further phylogenetic analyses and morphological investigations, the new fungus is described here as a new species of Neodactylaria, N. simaoensissp. nov., and placed in a new family Neodactylariaceaefam. nov. and a new order Neodactylarialesord. nov.We present phylogenetic analyses of the fruticose Ramalinaceae based on extensive collections from many parts of the world, with a special focus on the Vizcaíno deserts in north-western Mexico and the coastal desert in Namibia. We generate a four-locus DNA sequence dataset for accessions of Ramalina and two additional loci for Niebla and Vermilacinia. Four genera are strongly supported the subcosmopolitan Ramalina, the new genus Namibialina endemic to SW Africa, and a duo formed by Niebla and Vermilacinia, endemic to the New World except the sorediate V. zebrina that disjunctly occurs in Namibia. The latter three genera are restricted to coastal desert and chaparral where vegetation depends on moisture from ocean fog. Ramalina is subcosmopolitan and much more diverse in its ecology. We show that Ramalina and its sister genus Namibialina diverged from each other at c. 48 Myrs, whereas Vermilacinia and Niebla split at c. 30 Myrs. The phylogeny of the fruticose genera remains unresolved to their ancestral crustoepithets are re-introduced for European Ramalina species R. crispans (= R. peruviana auct. eur.) and R. rosacea (= R. bourgeana auct. p.p). A lectotype is designated for Vermilacinia procera. A key to saxicolous species of Vermilacinia is presented.It is estimated that approximately 154000 women in the United States have stage IV breast cancer (BC). A subset of this group has metastatic disease at presentation, known as de novo stage IV disease. De novo stage IV BC accounts for approximately 6% of all BC diagnoses in the United States. Traditionally, stage IV BC patients are treated with primary systemic therapy with a palliative intent reserving possible locoregional treatment (LRT) as last resort. There has been a lot of interest in the role of LRT in de novo stage IV BC for the past decade with mixed conclusions. Although this review is not intended to be a comprehensive overview of all literature regarding this topic to date, we will review the recent findings in literature focusing on the studies with larger sample sizes to investigate the role of LRT in de novo stage IV BC.
The aim of the study was to evaluate the association between chronic kidney disease (CKD) and new onset renal replacement therapy (RRT) with the outcome of Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) in patients.

A systematic literature search from several databases was performed on studies that assessed CKD, use of RRT, and the outcome of COVID-19. The composite of poor outcome consisted of mortality, severe COVID-19, acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS), need for intensive care, and use of mechanical ventilator.

Nineteen studies with a total of 7216 patients were included. CKD was associated with increased composite poor outcome (RR 2.63 [1.33, 5.17],
 = .03;

 = 51%,
 = .01) and its subgroup, consisting of mortality (RR 3.47 [1.36, 8.86],
 = .009;

 = 14%,
 = .32) and severe COVID-19 (RR 2.89 [0.98, 8.46],
 = .05;

 = 57%,
 = .04). RRT was associated with increased composite poor outcome (RR 18.04 [4.44, 73.25],
 < .001;

 = 87%,
 < .001), including mortality (RR 26.02 [5.01, 135.13],
 < .001;

 = 60%,
 = .06), severe COVID-19 (RR 12.95 [1.93, 86.82],
 = .008;

 = 81%,
 < .001), intensive care (IC) (RR 14.22 [1.76, 114.62],
 < .01;

 = 0%,
 < .98), and use of mechanical ventilator (RR 34.39 [4.63, 255.51],
 < .0005).

CKD and new-onset RRT were associated with poor outcome in patients with COVID-19.
CKD and new-onset RRT were associated with poor outcome in patients with COVID-19.Cholesterol granuloma (CG) is a rare condition histological consisting of a foreign body, giant cell reaction to cholesterol crystals and haemosiderin derived from the ruptured of the erythrocytes. A 25-year-old man came to our Department presenting signs and symptoms of tympano-mastoid cholesterol granuloma. He showed all the specific sign and symptoms of the disease. However, considering the lack of literature regarding TMCG, this study was performed with the aim of presenting the main characteristics of tympano-mastoid CG, describing the case report and reviewing the literature.
