An adult, female BPD group (n = 13) and a demographically matched healthy control group (n = 14) were recruited and administered the Adult Attachment Interview and/or the Object Relations Inventory. Computerized text analyses were used to assess positive emotion and negative emotion, the Weighted Refereobust linguistic features relevant to BPD.
Alström syndrome (ALMS) is a monogenic ultra-rare disorder with a prevalence of one per million inhabitants caused by pathogenic variants of ALMS1 gene. ALMS1 is located on chromosome 2p13, spans 23 exons and encodes a predicted 461.2-kDa protein of 4169 amino acids. The infantile cone-rod dystrophy with nystagmus and severe visual impairment is the earliest and most consistent clinical manifestation of ALMS. In addition, infantile transient cardiomyopathy, early childhood obesity with hyperphagia, deafness, insulin resistance (IR), type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM), systemic fibrosis and progressive renal or liver dysfunction are common findings. ALMS1 encodes a large ubiquitously expressed protein that is associated with the centrosome and the basal body of primary cilium.

The localisation of ALMS1 to the ciliary basal body suggests its contribution to ciliogenesis and/or normal ciliary function, or centriolar stability. Men with mild to moderate hyperprolactinemia rarely present with normal pituitary on MRI with no visible adenoma, a condition entitled also "idiopathic hyperprolactinemia" or "non-tumoral hyperprolactinemia". We have characterized a cohort of hyperprolactinemic men with normal pituitary imaging.

We have identified 13 men with true hyperprolactinemia and normal pituitary MRI. Baseline clinical and hormonal characteristics and response to medical treatment were retrospectively retrieved from medical records.

Mean age at diagnosis was 51 ± 16 years (range, 20-77); mean serum prolactin level at presentation was 91 ng/ml (range, 28-264), eight men presented with low baseline testosterone. Initial complaints leading to diagnosis included sexual dysfunction in ten men and gynecomastia in five. link2 All patients were treated with cabergoline, except for one who was given bromocriptine; none required pituitary surgery. All patients normalized prolactin and testosterone with subsequent clinical improvement reported by most men. Currently, after a mean follow-up of 72 months, ten patients continue treatment with caborgoline (median weekly dose, 0.25 mg), whereas three men discontinued treatment.

Computed tomography revealed a giant, poorly enhancing tumor occupying the entire abdomen, with abdominal ascites. The tumor was causing hydronephrosis, compression of the inferior vena cava, and elevation of the diaphragm. The patient exhibited deterioration of performance status (PS3 on the ECOG scale) and required oxygen; therefore, emergency surgery was performed. Operative findings included bloody abdominal ascites and peritoneal dissemination. link2 The large tumor arose from the small bowel mesentery, and infiltrated into the cecum and sigmoid colon. Tumor excision with ileocecal resection and sigmoidectomy was performed. link3 Histopathological examination revealed dedifferentiated liposarcoma. The patient was discharged on postoperative day 22, but pre-discharge CT revealed a recurrent liposarcoma in the retroperitoneum. Therefore, chemotherapy was initiated and the treatment has been continued for over 6 months after surgery. Due to the rarity of this disease, there is no consensus regarding treatment strategies for DDLPS with peritoneal dissemination or in patients with a poor general condition, especially in the setting of oncologic emergency. In this case, multimodal treatment was used to successfully manage this life-threatening state and obtain satisfactory therapeutic results.Significant atrophic gastritis in the fundic gland region is a well-known endoscopic finding observed in autoimmune gastritis (AIG). link3 The endoscopic features of early AIG have not been reported. Iron deficiency, vitamin B12 deficiency, anemia, or neurological symptoms may not be observed in the early stages of AIG, and it may thus be difficult to diagnose early AIG based on clinical findings. We treated a 50-year-old Japanese female whose condition was suspected to be early AIG. The endoscopic findings showed normal gastric pyloric gland mucosa, and diffuse reddened and edematous gastric fundic gland mucosa. Pathologically, local infiltration of lymphocytes and decrease of parietal cells was present in a deep part of the gastric fundic gland mucosa. Blood tests showed that the titer of parietal cell antibody (PCA) was 1320 and the gastrin level was 820 pg/ml. We determined that the patient had AIG because she also had Hashimoto's disease, the PCA titer was high, the serum gastrin level was slightly increased, and inflammation was observed only in the gastric body on the endoscopic images. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first case report of endoscopic findings that suggest early AIG, before atrophic changes were observed.A 25-year-old woman with fever and epigastric pain was referred to our hospital. Blood examination showed significant liver dysfunction, markedly high C-reactive protein (CRP 19.1 mg/dL) and procalcitonin (48.3 ng/mL) levels. Dynamic computed tomography showed a tumor approximately 120 mm in size in the right lobe of the liver, but with no abscess formation. The patient was hospitalized and started on antibiotics; her CRP level improved, but the procalcitonin level did not decrease. Curcumin has been reported to block cancer development by modulating multiple signaling pathways. However, whether curcumin can inhibit gemcitabine-resistant non-small cell lung cancer through regulation of lncRNA and the involved molecular mechanisms are rarely reported.

The results showed that curcumin suppressed gemcitabine-resistant non-small cell lung cancer cell proliferation and induced apoptosis. Curcumin upregulated the expression of lncRNA-MEG3 and PTEN, and MEG3 overexpression could increase the level of PTEN expression, while MEG3 knockdown decreased the level of PTEN expression in gemcitabine-resistant non-small cell lung cancer cells. Curcumin treatment failed to inhibit the proliferation and induce apoptosis in MEG3 knockdown or PTEN knockdown cells.

The inflammatory microenvironment has emerged as one of the focuses of cancer research. Little is known about the immune environment in esophageal adenocarcinoma (EAC) and possible tumor-escape mechanisms to avoid immune cell attack.

We measured T cell inflammation (CD3, CD8) in the microenvironment using a standardized software-based evaluation algorithm considering different predefined tumor areas as well as expression of MHC class 1 and PD-L1 on 75 analyzable primarily resected and locally advanced (≥ pT2) EACs. We correlated these findings statistically with clinical data.

Patients with high amounts of T cell infiltration in their tumor center showed a significant survival benefit of 41.4months compared to 16.3months in T cell poor tumors (p = 0.025), although CD3 fails to serve as an independent prognostic marker in multivariate analysis. For the invasion zone, a correlation between number of T-cells and overall survival was not detectable. Loss of MHC1 protein expression on tumor cells was seen inmor center. For the first time, we describe that the inner part of the invasion zone in EACs shows significantly fewer T-cells than other tumor segments and is prognostically irrelevant. We also demonstrate that the loss of antigen presenting ability via MHC1 downregulation by the carcinoma cells is a common escape mechanism in EACs. Future work will need to show whether tumors with MHC class 1 loss respond less well to immunotherapy.
Although the family burden of mental health problems on patients' close relatives was widely acknowledged, little was known about how mental health problems affected the quality of life of other types of social relationships of patients, through what mechanisms, and under what conditions. The study aims to explore the burden on all types of relationships of mental health patients and explain why and when the burden is unequal across different relationships.

The association between different types of relationships and the levels of burden was examined with dyadic data of 1178 patient-acquaintance relationships in the United States and random effects multilevel models. Frequency of contacts was tested as a mediator. The severity of mental health problems was tested as a moderator.

All types of relationships of patients borne a significant burden. Close relatives including parents, spouses, children, and siblings suffered a greater burden than distant relatives and non-relatives. The unequal burden was partly explained by the frequency of contacts with patients.
