Data from the research project "Fitness clubs-a venue for public health?" provided an opportunity to evaluate the accuracy of self-reported body weight and height, and subsequent Body Mass Index (BMI), as well as the "trueness" of novice exercisers perception of weight status category, which has not been examined in this population. The aims were to examine self-reported body weight, height, and calculated BMI data from an online survey compared with measured data at fitness club start-up, investigate how accurately novice exercisers place themselves within self-classified weight group (underweight, normal weight, overweight, and obese), and compare this with fitness club attendance at three months follow-up.

Prior to anthropometric measurements, 62 men and 63 women responded to an online questionnaire, including body weight (kilogram, kg) and height (centimeters, cm), and self-classified weight group ("
"). We used the following statistical analysis Paired sample
-tests, a Bland-Altman plot kappa stat incorrectly classifying weight group and fitness club attendance (≥2 times a week) at three months follow-up.

Both sexes reported body weight and height reasonably accurately, and BMI based on self-report appears to be valid measure. Still, a large proportion of novice exercisers do not recognise their own overweight or obesity status, which may in part explain why public health campaigns do not reach risk populations.

The purpose of this study was to establish sex-specific and age-specific standards for fat mass and fat-free mass in a large sample of Croatian children and adolescents. In this cross-sectional study, we collected data from 12,678 participants aged 11 to 18 years old (mean age ± standard deviation (SD) 14.17 ± 2.25 years; height 164.56 ± 11.31 cm; weight 57.45 ± 13.73 kg; body mass index 21.24 ± 3.67 kg/m2; 53% girls). Fat mass and fat-free mass were measured three times by bioelectrical impedance. The Lambda, Mu and Sigma methods were used to create percentile charts for fat mass index (FMI) and fat-free mass index (FFMI; fat mass and fat-free mass divided by height2). Sex and age differences were calculated using an analysis of variance (ANOVA) with post hoc comparisons. Boys had lower FMI (from 2.66 to 3.89) and higher FFMI values (from 16.90 to 17.80) in all age groups, compared to girls (for FMI from 2.79 to 5.17 and for FFMI from 14.50 to 14.90, p less then 0.001). In boys, FMI slightly declined until the age of 14, after which an increase from the age of 15 to 18 was observed. In girls, FMI gradually increased from the age of 11 to 18 (p less then 0.001). In general, FFMI increased by age in boys [F(7,5440) = 52.674, p less then 0.001], while girls had more stable FFMI across all age groups [F(7,7222) = 2.728, p = 0.057]. The newly established sex-specific and age-specific reference data could be used for national surveillance and to screen for children and adolescents with high FMI and low FFMI.Most cancers are related to lifestyle and environmental risk factors, including smoking, alcohol consumption, dietary habits, and environment (occupational exposures). A growing interest in the association between sexual activity (SA) and the development of different types of tumors in both men and women has been recorded in recent years. The aim of the present systematic review is to describe and critically discuss the current evidence regarding the association between SA and male genital cancers (prostatic, penile, and testicular), and to analyze the different theories and biological mechanisms reported in the literature. A comprehensive bibliographic search in the MEDLINE, Scopus, and Web of Science databases was performed in July 2021. Papers in the English language without chronological restrictions were selected. Retrospective and prospective primary clinical studies, in addition to previous systematic reviews and meta-analyses, were included. A total of 19 studies, including 953,704 patients were selecxual habits have also been described. A direct correlation between SA and TC has not yet been proven, although infections remain the most studied sex-related factor.Engaging occupational safety and health (OSH) professionals has scarcely been evaluated as a means for transferring knowledge to practice about physical workload in the construction industry. The aim of this work was to examine how participants used and incorporate research-based knowledge from a three-day training course into practice. Twenty OSH professionals from the Danish construction industry participated in a workshop-training course. Researchers presented new knowledge and results about physically demanding work. The participants selected which themes they wanted to work with and developed an action plan. Evaluation was done using surveys and phone interviews. Analysis was based on how the OSH-professionals describe themselves, organizations, and the construction industry. Participant's average scores on the level of implementation of their chosen action plans were 3 (on a response scale from 1-5, where 1 is 'to a very low degree' and 5 is 'to a very high degree') immediately after the workshop program and 2.5 at follow-up. Navitoclax Qualitative evaluations showed that actions had been initiated, and some progress had been made. The participants were satisfied with the workshop course and the possibility to increase their knowledge through inputs from researchers and colleges and strongly believe that they would succeed with implementing their action plans in the future.Long-term evaluation from 2000 to 2020 of a temperate reservoir indicated that water quality and trophic status were not critically controlled by the inter-annual dynamics of monsoon precipitation. The fluctuation of annual concentrations of TP, TSS, and EC did not always correlate with the variation of precipitation. BOD and COD demonstrated monotonically increasing trends with Sen's slope of 0.02 and 0.01, respectively, while Chl-a manifested a decreasing trend (slope = -0.23). The increases of different magnitudes in the levels of TP, TSS, and Chl-a in the monsoon and the early post-monsoon periods were observed in the drought, flood, and normal years. The drought years showed distinct seasonal variations in many parameters, while those in the flood and the normal years were very similar. Pearson correlation and empirical regression analyses resulted in weaker correlation between water quality and hydrological parameters than other reservoirs, which, along with low impact of precipitation, was attributed to the low drainage ratio (28.8) of the study area. BOD/COD ratios were higher than 0.5 in the reservoir, indicating the presence of a significant fraction of biodegradable organic matter. The ratio increased in the longitudinal flow direction (>50% in the drought years), implying the possibility of autochthonous sources of organic matter. TSID evaluation resulted in variation of limiting factors not related to the fluctuation of annual precipitation. The loadings of the significant principal components were very similar among the different precipitation groups, supporting the other findings that annual precipitation governed by monsoon intensity would not solely control the water quality dynamics of the study area. The rising CO2 concentration has prompted the quest of innovative tools to reduce its effect on the environment. A comparative adsorption study using sustainable low-cost date pits-derived activated carbon and molecular sieve has been carried out for CO2 separation. The adsorb ents were characterized for surface area and morphological properties. The outcomes of flow rate, temperature and initial adsorbate concentration on adsorption performance were examined. The process effectiveness was investigated by breakthrough time, adsorbate loading, efficiency, utilized bed height, mass transfer zone and utilization factor. The immensely steep adsorption response curves demonstrate acceptable utilization of adsorbent capability under breakthrough condition. The adsorbate loading 73.08 mg/g is achieved with an 0.938 column efficiency for developed porous activated carbon at 298 K. The reduced 1.20 cm length of mass transfer zone with enhanced capacity utilization factor equal 0.97 at 298 K with Cin = 5% signifies better adsorption performance for date pits-derived adsorbent. The findings recommend that produced activated carbon is greatly promising to adsorb CO2 in fixed bed column under continuous mode.We conducted this study to investigate the isolation frequency and phenotypic antibiotic resistance pattern of Staphylococcus aureus isolated from rodents, chickens, humans, and household soils. Specimens were plated onto mannitol salt agar (Oxoid, Basingstoke, UK) and incubated aerobically at 37 °C for 24 h. Presumptive colonies of S. aureus were subjected to Gram staining, as well as catalase, deoxyribonuclease (DNAse), and coagulase tests for identification. Antibiotic susceptibility testing was performed by using the Kirby-Bauer disc diffusion method on Mueller-Hinton agar (Oxoid, Basingstoke, UK). The antibiotics tested were tetracycline (30 μg), erythromycin (15 μg), gentamicin (10 μg), ciprofloxacin (5 μg), clindamycin (2 μg), and amoxicillin-clavulanate (20 μg/10 μg). The S. aureus strain American Type Culture Collection (ATCC) 25,923 was used as the standard organism. We found that 483 out of 956 (50.2%) samples were positive for S. aureus. The isolation frequencies varied significantly between samples sources, being 52.1%, 66.5%, 74.3%, and 24.5%, respectively, in chickens, humans, rodents, and soil samples (p less then 0.001). S. aureus isolates had high resistance against clindamycin (51.0%), erythromycin (50.9%), and tetracycline (62.5%). The overall prevalence of multidrug-resistant (MDR) S. aureus isolates was 30.2%, with 8.7% resistant to at least four different classes of antibiotics.
Hemorrhagic fever with renal syndrome (HFRS), a rodent-borne disease caused by different species of hantaviruses, is widely endemic in China. Shandong Province is one of the most affected areas. This study aims to analyze the epidemiological characteristics of HFRS, and to predict the regional risk in Shandong Province.

Descriptive statistics were used to elucidate the epidemiological characteristics of HFRS cases in Shandong Province from 2010 to 2018. Based on environmental and socioeconomic data, the boosted regression tree (BRT) model was applied to identify important influencing factors, as well as predict the infection risk zones of HFRS.

A total of 11,432 HFRS cases were reported from 2010 to 2018 in Shandong, with groups aged 31-70 years (81.04%), and farmers (84.44%) being the majority. Most cases were from central and southeast Shandong. There were two incidence peak periods in April to June and October to December, respectively. According to the BRT model, we found that population density (a relative contribution of 15.
