Slot Rankings - How Wide Receivers Score More Touchdowns in the Slot
Slots work exactly the same way every spin, so you won't be able to find any secret hacks to beat them. There are a few tricks you can use to maximize your chances of winning.
Take a look at the RTP of a particular game first. This number will tell you how many players could win over the long term.
Slot Efficiency
Slot efficiency is the aim of increasing the amount of slot switches that can be used without violating certain constraints. These constraints include, for example, the minimum allowed operational delay (usually expressed as scheduling delays), fairness, equity access, competition environmental goals and more. The slot allocation process is a complicated one and optimizing it to achieve the desired performance metrics requires careful analysis of the various factors involved.
The process starts by identifying the different types of requests to prioritize based on precedents from the past. Once the type is determined then the slot allocation model is then used to minimize the delay criteria. However, many research gaps have been identified related to the optimization of slot scheduling models especially when trying to balance fairness and efficiency.
ABC (assigned in accordance with velocity) is a well-known method of prioritizing slot assignments. This strategy gathers information about the item's history and determines the grouping based on velocity. Items with the fastest speed are assigned the fastest slots in the warehouse, while those with lower speed are placed further behind.
The distance factor is another key element in slot efficiency. It is a measure of the amount of space needed for the pick-to-ship process. The measure considers the speed group, racking placements and the handling characteristics of the products.
It is crucial to consider the cost associated with a slot change in order to increase the efficiency of your slot. A quick analysis of a typical slot change can aid managers in determining the cost associated with the change, as well as the impact it could have on other elements of slot efficiency, such as velocity.
After spending one or two months proving the data and re-dating recommendations, the casino began using the system more frequently. The gaming operations team estimates that they can save between 10-12 hours a month on their usual analysis. This is not including the time spent reviewing the data of customers or preparing new, actionable strategy.
The team was able by utilizing the new guidelines provided by SRE to make dozens game changes that resulted in more the amount of money players earn. Dancing Drums Explosion, and Twinstar Wave XL from Scientific Games saw significant gains in the premium lease rankings and WAP rankings. The casino was also capable of shifting its budget from marketing to other expenses and improve floor performance.
Perimeter Efficiency
We all know that wide receivers tend to score more touchdowns on perimeter targets than slot targets, since they're typically targeted further downfield and often have one-on-one coverage. What may be surprising to some, however, is the fact that the top five slot players and the rest of the group score differently on perimeter targets.
Of the wide receivers that have had at least 40 targets each of the last two seasons, the top five slot scorers on perimeter routes were all speed receivers: Mike Evans, Amari Cooper, Tyler Lockett and Michael Gallup. The bottom half of the list was filled with more possession-based receivers, including Chris Godwin and Diontae Johnson. The Bucs will likely move the latter two into the slot more often this season, which will increase their targets. However, they'll have to improve their scoring on the perimeter to maintain their top-of-the-line performance.
Speedy wideouts are among the biggest benefit of moving into the slot as they typically are more likely to be open downfield in the event that their route isn't blocked by a cornerback or linebacker. The only wide receiver who isn't speedy on the list who can benefit from more slot time is Corey Coleman, as he's an extremely reliable player on intermediate and short routes.
The last spot on the list features more possession-based receivers that are more effective on intermediate and short routes than in deep areas like Jerry Jeudy and KJ Hamler. Jeudy is a good sleeper pick this year, as he'll be the primary slot receiver for the Rams while Courtland Sutton and Amari Cooper are expected to be involved in more downfield targets. Hamler should be able to be a star on intermediate and short-to middle routes, given that's exactly what he did well in 2021 while playing for the Bills. He could be a great replacement for the departing wideout Jordan Matthews in Buffalo.
Percentage of Snaps In Slot
The proportion of snaps receivers take in the slot can be a good indicator for their ability to run routes deep. However, it isn't always a true representation of a receiver's skills as certain receivers excel in the slot, but can't play deep and vice versa.
For example, the Eagles' Alshon Jeffery leads the league in the number of targets per game (4.8) but is ranked sixth in slot receiving score (58.5). This is due to the fact that the majority of his targets have been thrown from the outside and it's difficult to gain a first down on a wide-open deep route in that situation.
On the other hand, some receivers excel at playing inside, but struggle on the perimeter. For example, the Panthers handed Robby Anderson 978 snaps this season, and he completed a whopping 74 percent of his slot routes compared to just 26% on boundary routes. This is a significant difference and shows just how much more efficient Robby Anderson is when he's aligned with the slot.
Chris Godwin, a Buccaneers player, lines up inside most of the time on his passing downs and is among the top five slot receiving scores (58.5). However, he also played 51 percent of his perimeter routes last season and is a stud in one-on-one coverage.
Speed receivers are more efficient when they line up inside, because they are able to get targeted down the field, and often find themselves with one-on-one coverage. There are names like Mike Evans, Amari Cooper and Julio Jones in our top five.
McDuffie, Moore and other slot cornerbacks are also part of this group. McDuffie leads the NFL in forced fumbles with seven, while Moore has the best tackle-stop efficiency (-3.5) on this list. Spagnuolo made McDuffie's abilities more effective by using him in the slot for nickel and dime packs and then shifting him to the outside when playing base defense. In addition, Moore's ability to stop big run plays has been a huge advantage when playing in the slot.
Percentage of Snaps Outside
While the NFL's top receivers such as Baldwin, Golden Tate and Larry Fitzgerald excel on the perimeter, it's worth noting that their slot counterparts are just as good. As a group wide receivers with high slot receiving grades score touchdowns around the same amount as those who play on the perimeter. This is mainly because quarterbacks are more consistent with their target distribution when they throw to slot and outside wide receivers than other inside options like tight ends and backfield passers.
It's therefore interesting to see a receiver such as CeeDee lamb on this list for 2022. He plays the slot in 3 WR sets, and flanker in 2 of them. In actuality the slot receiver is running a higher number of routes in the slot than most players listed on this list. This is a great method to gain matchup advantages for your team. It also helps to explain why Lamb is the top-rated receiver in our system.
Lamb also plays at the X-position and makes huge plays on the outside. Lamb isn't as explosive as the other players in this ranking however he's still an elite wide receiver that fits well into the Cowboys scheme.
Mecole Hardman is another example of a player who's capable of posting big numbers on both targets. He is one of the best players in the league when it comes to catching throws from behind his shoulders. He's also a great catcher who is contested.
Jalen Hilton is another player who is slot specialist. He's lined up in this position on 85.7 percent his defensive snaps thus far in the season. He has the third-lowest EPA for targets and the fifth-highest EPA for run stops among cornerbacks in the slot. This makes him an important part of his team's defensive line. On bonus slots Rainbet Casino , he's had trouble to prevent passes from the outside and has allowed an unfavorable EPA against these types of targets. This is because he's been playing with linebackers and safety players who aren't able to compete with Hilton's speed, size and route-running abilities.
