Conclusions Policy research over the last 20 years was focused on the regulatory mandate of time. Policy research did not directly address disciplinary process variables of learning activities or outcomes of physical education. The effects of policy exemptions and class size were underrepresented. Themes may explain the lack of reporting student performance as the primary outcome. Further research is needed to examine the downstream effects of physical education policy and determine whether well-written policies increase the number of physically literate individuals.Appropriate instruction is a key component of quality physical education, which aligns student learning activities with grade-level learning outcomes. Historically, in the 1980s and late 1990s, an abundance of research was conducted to empirically link teacher effectiveness to student learning outcomes. In recent years, however, limited research has been published. Purpose The purpose of this study was to (a) identify research studies examining appropriate instructional practice in K-12 physical education since 2000, (b) describe the study characteristics and summarize the findings, (c) compare research to the SHAPE America's guidelines for appropriate instruction, and (d) make recommendations for future research. Methods This study was conducted using the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews (PRISMA) standards of quality for reporting meta-analyses. A systematic search of five electronic databases was conducted. Two reviewers retrieved articles, assessed risk of bias, and performed data extraction. The findings were synthesized using a descriptive analysis. Results A total of 37 articles met the inclusion criteria. A thematic analysis was conducted to reduce the included articles into four themes that influenced student outcomes (1) student engagement and participation, (2) motivation, (3) student learning, and (4) physical activity and fitness. Conclusions This review of the literature provides evidence of the benefits of effective teaching practices and suggests that future studies in instruction should focus on teacher effectiveness and its relation to student learning outcomes. Recommendations and future directions are discussed.Appropriate assessment practices are recognized as a critical part of the learning process and represent a key component of quality physical education. Method The Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews extension for Scoping Reviews (PRISMA-Sc) Checklist guided this review. All related empirical, peer-reviewed, English-language studies conducted in U.S. schools and published since January 1, 2000 qualified for inclusion. Results A total of 17 articles met the inclusion criteria for this review. Most used non-experimental methods and were conducted in the secondary (grades 6-12) physical education context. Limited studies examined the relationship between assessment practices and learning outcomes. Recommendations for future research are provided based on the results. Conclusions A diverse body of studies provides valuable, yet limited evidence related to teacher assessment practices. Systematic research is needed to better understand the impact of teacher assessment practices on student outcomes and to build a stronger foundation for evidence-based recommendations for practice.The purpose of this study was to clarify the relationship between the efficiency of mechanical energy flow in the torso and bat head speed at impact. Ninety-eight amateur baseball players batted a light ball tossed from the pitcher direction 3.2 m away. The batting motion and ground reaction forces acting on each foot were recorded using a motion capture system and two force plates, respectively. The mechanical powers of the joint forces and joint torques were calculated to measure the generation, absorption, and transfer of mechanical energy in the torso. The transfer efficiency of mechanical energy in the torso was defined as the ratio of the mechanical energy inflow into the thorax from the torso joint to the mechanical energy outflow from the pelvis to the torso joint. The correlation coefficient between the bat head speed and transfer efficiency of mechanical energy in the torso was very low. Conversely, the mechanical energy flow in the torso was significantly correlated to the bat head speed. Therefore, the results suggest that the torso in baseball batting is not utilised for the generation of mechanical energy but acts as a pathway for the transfer of mechanical energy.Wild yak (Bos mutus) is a vulnerable bovine species on the Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau. So far, most studies on the molecular genetic diversity of wild yak have focused on autosomal and mtDNA variations based on the small number of samples. In this study, we analyzed 84 D-loop and 24 whole mitogenome sequences of wild yak to further comprehensively explore its maternal genetic diversity and lineage composition. Meanwhile, using six yak Y-specific polymorphic markers (i.e., SRY4, USP9Y, UTY19, AMELY3, OFD1Y10 and INRA189), we assessed the paternal genetic diversity and lineage composition based on eight wild yak. Our results showed that wild yak exhibited abundant maternal genetic diversity with haplotype diversities of 0.9621 ± 0.0078 and 0.9928 ± 0.0144 in the D-loop and whole mitogenome sequences, respectively. Maternal phylogenetic analysis of wild yak uncovered three defined lineages (mt-I, mt-II and mt-III). Similarly, profuse paternal genetic diversity was observed in wild yak with Y-haplotype diversity at 0.8214 ± 0.1007. Two Y-haplogroups (Y1 and Y2) and four Y-haplotypes (yH1-yH4) were identified in paternal phylogenetic analysis, indicating wild yak to be of two paternal lineages. The present study of genetic diversity and lineage composition of wild yak would provide useful information for the genetic resource conservation and utilization of this vulnerable wild species.This paper presents a female, benign intramedullary cyst case aged 66-year-old. During the operation, it was found that the cystic wall was very thin, and the cystic fluid was colorless and transparent. The lesion with the capsule was removed partially. Surprisingly, there was no epithelial lining on the capsule wall. It is very rare and different from the benign intramedullary cysts reported in the literature.
Literature to date describing the lived experience of dysphagia has predominantly focussed on the clinical populations of stroke and head and neck cancer. The current study aimed to understand the experience of people with dysphagia of varying aetiologies living at home in the community.

Using a qualitative descriptive approach grounded in phenomenology, individuals with dysphagia were interviewed (
 = 15) about their experiences living with and managing dysphagia at home.

Thematic analysis revealed an overarching theme of
which described the process of managing dysphagia at home. This theme was characterised by three subthemes (1) The story of dysphagia; (2) Engaging with support networks; and (3) Limited community awareness of dysphagia.

This study highlights a range of psychosocial impacts individuals with dysphagia living at home may experience. Participants described how managing other health conditions alongside dysphagia influenced their perspectives about dysphagia. speech-language pathologists must consider individual client health priorities and provide support for not just the physical but also the psychosocial needs of clients. The reduced profile of dysphagia in our communities continues to be an ongoing barrier for clients with dysphagia and their families.

This is a retrospective study and a prospective questionnaire of subjects who underwent laparoscopic surgery for pelvic pain and/or endometriosis from 2010 to 2015. The rate of reoperation was 8.60%. Following surgery, 83.3% of previously infertile subjects with endometriosis attempted to conceive with an 80.0% success rate. Subjects had significant improvement in each quality of life measurement and most sexual function indices analysed.Impact StatementWhat is already known on this subject? Endometriosis is estimated to affect around 35-50% of women experiencing chronic pelvic pain and/or infertility. Surgical management of endometriosis is recommended for patients who desire fertility, are afflicted by a more severe form of endometriosis, or have had persistent or recurrent pain in spite of medical management.What the results of this study add? The overall rate of reoperation for subjects was low at 8.6%. The majority of infertile patients were able to conceive following surgery.What the implications are of these findings for clinical practice and/or further research? Laparoscopic management of endometriosis is an effective management tool with low rates of reoperation and high efficacy in treating infertility caused by endometriosis.Plant-derived nanoparticles have multi-functionalities owing to their ecological origin and biocompatible nature. A novel and stable silver nanoparticle (AgNP) was reported here using Cyanthillium cinereum (C. cinereum) as a reducing as well as capping agent by rapid microwave-assisted green method. The synthesized nanoparticles revealed their crystalline and spherical nature with an average size of 19.25 ± 0.44 nm in HR-TEM analysis. The excitation of electrons from occupied d-bands to states above the Fermi level while employing photoluminescence studies of AgNP indicated their awesome optical properties. Rapid decomposition of dangerous organic dyes like methylene blue and fuchsine in the catalytic presence of AgNP was evidenced from simple UV-visible spectral analysis. In vitro antioxidant potential assessed by DPPH assay indicated an IC50 value of 40.80 ± 0.14 μg/mL for the new AgNP. A substantial control on the growth of pathogenic bacteria such as Staphylococcus aureus and Klebsiella pneumonia can be achieved by synthesized nanoparticles as demonstrated by the well diffusion method.
