Circ_0000518 regulated FGFR1 expression via competitively binding to miR-326 in BC cells. MiR-326 inhibitor reversed the inhibitory influence of circ_0000518 knockdown on the malignant behaviors of BC cells. FGFR1 overexpression abolished miR-326 mimic-mediated influence on the malignant behaviors of BC cells.
Circ_0000518 facilitated BC development via regulation of the miR-326/FGFR1 axis, suggesting that circ_0000518 might be a promising target for BC treatment.

Notably, myocardium has extremely limited regeneration potential due to the loss or death of cardiomyocytes (i.e., the cells of which the myocardium is comprised) upon MI. A variety of stem cells and stem cell-derived cardiovascular cells, in situ cardiac fibroblasts and endogenous proliferative epicardium, have been exploited to provide renewable cellular sources to treat injured myocardium. Also, different strategies, including direct injection of cell suspensions, bioactive molecules, or cell-incorporated biomaterials, and implantation of artificial cardiac scaffolds (e.g., cell sheets and cardiac patches), have been developed to deliver renewable cells and/or bioactive molecules to the MI site for the myocardium regeneration. This article briefly surveys cell sources and delivery strategies, along with biomaterials and their processing techniques, developed for MI treatment. Key issues and challenges, as well as recommendations for future research, are also discussed.
Young men who have sex with men (MSM) and transgender women (TGW) face stigmas that hinder access to healthcare. The aim of the study was to understand age-related determinants of healthcare needs and engagement among MSM and TGW.
The TRUST/RV368 cohort provides integrated prevention and treatment services for HIV and other sexually transmitted infections (STIs) tailored to the needs of sexual and gender minorities. MSM and TGW aged ≥16years in Abuja and ≥18years Lagos, Nigeria, completed standardized behavioural questionnaires and were tested for HIV, Neisseria gonorrhoeae (NG) and Chlamydia trachomatis (CT) every three months for up to 18months. Logistic regression was used to estimate adjusted odds ratios (aORs) for associations of age and other factors with outcomes of interest upon enrolment, including HIV care continuum steps - HIV testing, ART initiation and viral suppression <1000copies/mL. Cox proportional hazards models were used to calculate adjusted hazard ratios (aHRs) for associations witoung MSM and TGW demonstrated decreased healthcare engagement and higher incidence of HIV and other STIs as compared to older participants in this Nigerian cohort. Interventions to address unique obstacles to healthcare engagement by adolescents and young adults are needed to curb the spread of HIV and other STIs among MSM and TGW in Nigeria.

HIV healthcare services for men who have sex with men (MSM) in Kenya have not been openly provided because of persistent stigma and lack of healthcare capacity within Kenya's decentralized health sector. Building on an evaluation of a developed online MSM sensitivity training programme offered to East and South African healthcare providers, this study assessed views and responses to strengthen HIV healthcare services for MSM in Kenya.
The study was conducted between January and July 2017 in Kilifi County, coastal Kenya. Seventeen policymakers participated in an in-depth interview and 59 stakeholders, who were purposively selected from three key groups (i.e. healthcare providers, implementing partners and members of MSM-led community-based organizations) took part in eight focus group discussions. Discussions aimed to understand gaps in service provision to MSM from different perspectives, to identify potential misconceptions, and to explore opportunities to improve MSM HIV healthcare services. Interviews ired. Continued engagement with policy leadership, collaboration with health facilities, and partnerships with different community stakeholders are critical to improve HIV healthcare services for MSM.
To strengthen HIV healthcare for MSM within a decentralized Kenyan health system, a more responsive, multi-pronged strategy adaptable and relevant to MSM's healthcare needs is required. Continued engagement with policy leadership, collaboration with health facilities, and partnerships with different community stakeholders are critical to improve HIV healthcare services for MSM.Pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) has a dismal prognosis, with surgical resection of the tumor in conjunction with systemic chemotherapy the only potential curative therapy. Up to 80% of diagnosed cases are deemed unresectable, prompting the need for alternative treatment approaches. Herein, coaxial polymeric fibers loaded with two chemotherapeutic agents, gemcitabine (Gem) and paclitaxel (Ptx), are fabricated to investigate the effect of local drug delivery on PDAC cell growth in vitro and in vivo. A wet-spinning fabrication method to form a coaxial fiber with a polycaprolactone shell and alginate core loaded with Ptx and Gem, respectively, is used. In vitro, Gem+Ptx fibers display significant cytotoxicity as well as radiosensitizing properties toward PDAC cell lines greater than the equivalent free drugs, which may be attributed to a radiosensitizing effect of the polymers. In vivo studies assessing Gem+Ptx fiber efficacy found that Gem+Ptx fibers reduce tumor volume in a xenograft mouse model of PDAC. Importantly, no difference in mouse weight, circulating cytokines, or liver function is observed in mice treated with Gem+Ptx fibers compared to the empty fiber controls confirming the safety of the implant approach. With further development, Gem+Ptx fibers can improve the treatment of unresectable PDAC in the future.
There is little published literature about gay, bisexual and other men who have sex with men and transgender individuals (MSM and TG)'s use of social media in sub-Saharan Africa, despite repressive social and/or criminalizing contexts that limit access to physical HIV prevention. We sought to describe MSM and TG's online socializing in Nairobi and Johannesburg, identifying the characteristics of those socializing online and those not, in order to inform the development of research and health promotion in online environments.
Respondent-driven sampling surveys were conducted in 2017 in Nairobi (n=618) and Johannesburg (n=301) with those reporting current male gender identity or male sex assigned at birth and sex with a man in the last 12months. Online socializing patterns, sociodemographic, sexual behaviour and HIV-testing data were collected. We examined associations between social media use and sociodemographic characteristics and sexual behaviours among all, and only those HIV-uninfected, using logisticapse and a fear of blackmail.
Most MSM and TG in these cities socialize online regularly. Users reported HIV acquisition risk behaviours, yet this space is not fully utilized for sexual health promotion and research engagement. Effective, safe and acceptable means of using online channels to engage with MSM/TG that account for MSM and TG's strategies and concerns for managing online security should now be explored, as complements or alternatives to existing outreach.

Herein, NaGdF4 Er,Yb@NaGdF4 Nd@Cu(II) boron-imidazolate frameworks (denoted as CSNPs@Cu-BIF) nanoassemblies are designed and fabricated. Upon a single 808 nm laser irradiation, the nanoassemblies not only show the outstanding photothermal conversion capacity (η = 41.7%) but also generate cytotoxic reactive oxygen species through an in situ Fenton-like reaction and fluorescence resonance energy transfer. Importantly, the nanoassemblies simultaneously introduce remarkable antitumor efficacy via photothermal/photodynamic/chemodynamic combination therapy both in vitro and in vivo. To improve the therapeutic effect of solid tumor ablation, it is highly desirable to monitor the treatment process in real-time. Multiclinical imaging modalities of ultrasonography are employed to systematically investigate the ablation mechanism of solid tumors in vivo. Furthermore, the significant difference between the eigen temperature of CSNPs@Cu-BIF nanoassemblies obtained by the temperature-sensitive emission bands signal changes and the apparent temperature recorded by the thermal imaging camera is 14.55 K at equilibrium. This current work therefore supplies an alternative strategy in temperature feedback-controlled accurate cancer therapy. This work reports the ionic composition of a PEGylated and chemically crosslinked polyethyleneimine with a gadolinium-coordinated polyoxomolybdate cluster, K17 [Gd(P2 Mo17 O61 )2 ], via electrostatic interaction. The prepared composites form nanoobjects with an average size of ≈27 nm at dried state and maintain structural stability in aqueous solution. While the biocompatibility on HeLa cells is demonstrated, the polymer-shielded multifunctional nanoplatform shows both the combined magnetic resonance imaging and redox-triggered photothermal conversion effect. Cyclophosphamide As a contrast agent, the T1 -weighed relaxivity reaches up to 22.77 mm-1 s-1 . The photothermal conversion of the prepared composites can be aroused by yielding a broad near infrared (NIR) adsorption through on-site reduction of the glutathione that is enriched in the tumor environment. The high efficiency ≈61.0% under the irradiation of 808 nm NIR laser illustrates a distinct treatment capability according to cell counting Kit-8 assay while the obvious inhibition for the growth of tumor cells is observed.Enslaved to the large-size K-ions, the construction of suitable anode materials with superior and stable potassium-ion storage properties is a major challenge. 1T phase MoS2 possesses higher conductivity, bigger interlayer distance, and more electrochemically active sites than the 2H phase, which offers intriguing benefits for energy-related applications. In this work, the 1T/2H-phase hybrid MoS2 nanosheets are successfully anchored in the N-doped carbon nanotube hollow polyhedron (1T/2H-MoS2 /NCNHP) by a bottom-up solvothermal method. For the synthesized 1T/2H-MoS2 /NCNHP, the fewer-layer 1T/2H-MoS2 nanosheets are embedded in an N-doped carbon nanotube hollow polyhedron, with an enlarged interlayer spacing of 0.96 nm. When evaluated as anode material for potassium-ion batteries, the 1T/2H-MoS2 /NCNHP hybrid presents outstanding potassium storage performance. It delivers a high-specific capacity of 519.2 mAh g-1 at 50 mA g-1 and maintains 281.2 mAh g-1 at 1 A g-1 over 500 cycles. The good potassium-ion electrochemical performance is attributed to the rational structural design and the synergistic effect of the components.
