Renal involvement in various forms is common in addition to serum electrolyte disturbances. Early reports suggest that hypokalaemia may frequent those with SARS-CoV-2 infection and various aetiological factors may cause this electrolyte disturbance. A Chinese retrospective study has demonstrated renal potassium wasting in patients infected with SARS-CoV-2, however, it is not known if these patients were receiving diuretic therapy which may be a contributing factor. This case report illustrates an example of renal potassium wasting in SARS-CoV-2 infection in the absence of diuretics and extra-renal mechanisms with important lessons learned.There are two frameworks for characterizing mutational signatures which are commonly used to describe the nucleotide patterns that arise from mutational processes. Estimated mutational signatures from fitting these two methods in human cancer can be found online, in the Catalogue Of Somatic Mutations In Cancer (COSMIC) website or a GitHub repository. The two frameworks make differing assumptions regarding independence of base pairs and for that reason may produce different results. Consequently, there is a need to compare and contrast the results of the two methods, but no such tool currently exists. In this paper, we provide a simple and intuitive interface that allows comparisons of pairs of mutational signatures to be easily performed. Cosine similarity measures the extent of signature similarity. To compare mutational signatures of different formats, one signature type (COSMIC or pmsignature) is converted to the format of the other before the signatures are compared. iMutSig provides a simple and user-friendly web application allowing researchers to download published mutational signatures of either type and to compare signatures from COSMIC to those from pmsignature, and vice versa. Furthermore, iMutSig allows users to input a self-defined mutational signature and examine its similarity to published signatures from both data sources. iMutSig is accessible online and source code is available for download from GitHub.
This study aims to investigate the effects of semi-elevated right lateral and semi-elevated supine positions on feeding tolerance, stress severity and pain levels among premature infants during tube feeding.

This was a randomized cross-over clinical trial. A total of 34 premature infants who were fed via orogastric tube were included in this study. Feeding tolerance was assessed by abdominal circumference measurements and checking gastric residuals; this assessment was single blinded. Physiological values were evaluated before, during and after tube feeding. The stress severity and pain levels of the infants were also evaluated independently by the researchers before, during and after tube feeding. A significance level of .05 was accepted for all statistical analyses.

There were no difference between infants' vital signs, stress and pain scores according to feeding positions before tube feeding (p > .05). By feeding positions, a statistically significant difference was found between infants' vital signs, abdominal circumference and gastric residuals of infants during tube feeding. Pain and stress levels of infants were found to be significantly higher in the semi-elevated supine position during tube feeding (p < .05).

Aspects of parenting are an under-investigated topic amongst children with voiding complaints. We aimed to investigate the association between voiding complaints amongst children and two specific parenting-related behaviours 1) parental availability during the child's leisure time and 2) frequency of witnessing interparental conflict.

Children aged between 6 and 11years with their parents were the participants. Two survey forms and informed consent form were sent to potential participants via children's teacher. Voiding dysfunction complaints were evaluated with the Dysfunctional Voiding and Incontinence Symptom Scale (DVISS).

Data analyses were performed with 1101 eligible participants. The mean duration of parental availability during the child's leisure time was below 2hours per day. Nearly one out of every four children witnessed interparental conflict at least once a month. Age, educational level of the mother, parental availability for the child's leisure time, and frequency of witnessing parental conflicts were found to be significantly associated with DVISS ratings. Adjusting age, socioeconomic level, and educational level of the parents and later adjusting parental availability during the child's leisure time did not change the association of frequency of witnessing interparental conflict with DVISS rates. An increase in the age, educational level of the mother, and parental availability during the child's leisure time was correlated with better scores on DVISS, while an increase in the frequency of witnessing interparental conflict strongly correlated with worse scores.

Experimental data are, however, subject to biological and technical variability. Each test method's precision is limited resulting in uncertainty of the positive/negative outcome if the experimental result is close to the CT. Borderline ranges (BR) around the CT were suggested, which represent ranges in which the study result is ambiguous, that is, positive or negative results are equally likely. The BR reflects a method's precision uncertainty. This article explores and compares different approaches to quantify the BR. Besides using the pooled standard deviation, we determine the BR by means of the median absolute deviation (MAD), with a sequential combination of both methods, and by using nonparametric bootstrapping. Furthermore, we quantify the BR for different hazardous effects, including nonanimal tests for skin corrosion, eye irritation, skin irritation, and skin sensitization as well as for an animal test on skin sensitization (the local lymph node assay, LLNA). Additionally, for one method (direct peptide reactivity assay) the BR was determined experimentally and compared to calculated BRs. Our results demonstrate that (i) the precision of the methods is determining the size of their BRs, (ii) there is no "perfect" method to derive a BR, alas, (iii) a consensus on BR is needed to account for the limited precision of testing methods.
This paper aims to identify the frequency and nature of evidence-practice gaps in the initial neuro-protective nursing care of patients with moderate or severe traumatic brain injury provided by Thai trauma nurses.

Little is known about how Thai trauma nurses use evidence-based practice when providing initial neuro-protective nursing care to patients with moderate or severe traumatic brain injury.

A mixed methods design was used to conduct this study.

Data were collected from January to March 2017 using observations and audits of the clinical care of 22 patients by 35 nurses during the first 4 h of admission to trauma ward. The study site was a regional hospital in Southern Thailand.

The major evidence-practice gaps identified were related to oxygen and carbon dioxide monitoring and targets, mean arterial pressure and systolic blood pressure targets and management of increased intracranial pressure through patient positioning and pain and agitation management.

Two unique polyols are synthesized bearing unsaturated units in a configuration designed to favor ring-closing metathesis (RCM) to five- and six-membered cycloalkenes. These polyols are co-polymerized with toluene diisocyanate to generate linear PUs and trifunctional hexamethylene- and diphenylmethane-based isocyanates to generate crosslinked PUs. The polyol design is such that the RCM reaction cleaves the backbone of the polymer chain. Upon exposure to dilute solutions of Grubbs' catalyst under ambient conditions, the PUs are rapidly depolymerized to low molecular weight, soluble products bearing vinyl and cycloalkene functionalities. These functionalities enable further re-polymerization by traditional strategies for polymerization of double bonds. Exogenous addition of biologically active gibberellic acid (GA) is known to inhibit root nodule symbiosis. However, the precise role of GA has not been elucidated because of the trace amounts of these hormones in plants and the multiple functions of GAs. Here, we found that GA signaling acts as a key regulator in a long-distance negative-feedback system of root nodule symbiosis called autoregulation of nodulation (AON). GA biosynthesis is activated during nodule formation in and around the nodule vascular bundles, and bioactive GAs accumulate in the nodule. In addition, GA signaling induces expression of the symbiotic transcription factor NODULE INCEPTION (NIN) via a cis-acting region on the NIN promoter. Mutants with deletions of this cis-acting region have increased susceptibility to rhizobial infection and reduced GA-induced CLE-RS1 and CLE-RS2 expression, suggesting that the inhibitory effect of GAs occurs through AON.
