For the body habitus of the models, we used the 4D extended cardiac-torso (XCAT) model that was developed at Duke University. The morphologic features of COVID-19 abnormalities were segmented from 20 CT images of patients who had been confirmed to have COVID-19 and incorporated into XCAT models. Within a given disease area, the texture and material of the lung parenchyma in the XCAT were modified to match the properties observed in the clinical images. To show the utility, three developed COVID-19 computational phantoms were virtually imaged using a scanner-specific CT and radiography simulator. RESULTS. Subjectively, the simulated abnormalities were realistic in terms of shape and texture. Results showed that the contrast-to-noise ratios in the abnormal regions were 1.6, 3.0, and 3.6 for 5-, 25-, and 50-mAs images, respectively. CONCLUSION. The developed toolsets in this study provide the foundation for use of virtual imaging trials in effective assessment and optimization of CT and radiography acquisitions and analysis tools to help manage the COVID-19 pandemic.
Femoroacetabular impingement (FAI) is a common cause of hip pain and a known risk factor for hip osteoarthritis (OA) and total hip arthroplasty (THA) at a young age. Unfortunately, little is known about the specific factors associated with an increased risk of OA.

To (1) report the overall rate of symptomatic hip OA and/or THA in patients with FAI without surgical intervention and (2) identify radiographic features and patient characteristics associated with hip OA.

A geographic database was used to identify all patients with hip pain and radiographs between 2000 and 2016. Chart review was performed to identify patients with FAI. link3 Patient medical records were reviewed to obtain demographic information, clinical history, physical examination findings, imaging details, and treatment details. Kaplan-Meier analysis was used to determine the rate of hip OA. Univariate and multivariate proportional hazard regression models were performed to determine risk factors for and no specific radiographic risk factors for OA were identified.
At mean follow-up of 24.7 years, 14% of hips had symptomatic OA and 4% underwent THA. BMI greater than 29, male sex, and increased age at the time of presentation with hip pain were risk factors for hip OA. The cohort consisted of a large percentage of mixed-type FAI morphologies, and no specific radiographic risk factors for OA were identified.Background This study investigated the efficacy and complications of microwave ablation in combination with chemotherapy in treating peripheral IIIB-IV nonsmall cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Materials and Methods A total of 100 patients with peripheral IIIB-IV NSCLC were randomly divided into two groups combination group (n = 52) and chemotherapy group (n = 48). Patients in the combination group were treated with microwave ablation, radiotherapy, and chemotherapy, whereas the patients in the chemotherapy group were treated with pemetrexed disodium or gemcitabine hydrochloride, cisplatin chemotherapy, and conventional radiotherapy. Results The effectiveness and disease control rates were significantly higher in the combination group than in the chemotherapy group (p  less then  0.05). The second- and third-year survival rates were significantly higher in the combination group than in the chemotherapy group (p  less then  0.05). However, patients in the combination group had no serious complications, and there were no intraoperative and perioperative deaths. Conclusions Microwave ablation is safe and effective. Combination chemotherapy is superior to chemotherapy in treating peripheral IIIB-IV NSCLC in terms of effectiveness rate, disease control rate, and extended patient survival time.The coronavirus disease of 2019 (COVID-19) has posed a major challenge for providers and patients. A large number of patients with atrial fibrillation, venous thromboembolism, or valvular heart disease are chronically anticoagulated with vitamin K antagonists and rely on frequent follow ups at anticoagulation clinics for management of their anticoagulation therapy. The need for isolation during COVID-19 pandemic can potentially limit access to health care including anticoagulation clinics and directly affect the care of patients on chronic anticoagulation. Therefore, we created a drive-through clinic to bridge the gap of continuation of care and preservation of social distancing precautions. In this manuscript, we report the steps in implementing such initiative which can be applied to other clinics during a pandemic.
In conditional automated driving (SAE Level 3), drivers are required to take over their vehicles when the automated systems fail. Non-driving related tasks (NDRTs) can positively or negatively affect takeover safety, but the underlying reasons for this inconsistency remain unclear. This study aims to investigate how various workload levels generated by NDRTs may influence the takeover performance of drivers and the lead time they require.

Fifty drivers were randomly distributed into five groups, which corresponded to five workload levels (1-4 levels generated by Tetris game; control level generated by monitoring). Each driver completed vehicle takeover tasks upon receiving takeover requests with various lead times (3, 5, 7, 9, and 11 s) while engaging in NDRTs. The drivers' takeover performance and subjective opinions were recorded.

Drivers in the moderate workload condition (i.e., level 3) had significantly shorter takeover times and better takeover quality than those in the lower (i.e., level 1 and led U-shaped relationship between the drivers' workload generated by NDRTs and takeover performance. The moderate workload level (rather than the lower or higher workload level) led to a faster and better takeover performance, and it seemed to require minimal lead time for drivers. These findings help understand the relationship of drivers' workload during the automation and takeover performance in conditional automated driving. An important recommendation emerging from this work is to investigate what should be the most efficient method to detect the drivers' workload state real-time and give feedback to them when it comes to overload or underload during the automated driving.
