Vertebral Compression Fracture (VCF) occurs when the vertebral body partially collapses under the action of compressive forces. Non-traumatic VCFs can be secondary to osteoporosis fragility (benign VCFs) or tumors (malignant VCFs). The investigation of the etiology of non-traumatic VCFs is usually necessary, since treatment and prognosis are dependent on the VCF type. Currently, there has been great interest in using Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) for the classification of medical images because these networks allow the automatic extraction of useful features for the classification in a given problem. However, CNNs usually require large datasets that are often not available in medical applications. Besides, these networks generally do not use additional information that may be important for classification. A different approach is to classify the image based on a large number of predefined features, an approach known as radiomics. In this work, we propose a hybrid method for classifying VCFs that uses features from three different sources i) intermediate layers of CNNs; ii) radiomics; iii) additional clinical and image histogram information. In the hybrid method proposed here, external features are inserted as additional inputs to the first dense layer of a CNN. A Genetic Algorithm is used to i) select a subset of radiomic, clinical, and histogram features relevant to the classification of VCFs; ii) select hyper-parameters of the CNN. Experiments using different models indicate that combining information is interesting to improve the performance of the classifier. Besides, pre-trained CNNs presents better performance than CNNs trained from scratch on the classification of VCFs.The segmentation of the lesion region in gastroscopic images is highly important for the detection and treatment of early gastric cancer. This paper proposes a novel approach for gastric lesion segmentation by using generative adversarial training. First, a segmentation network is designed to generate accurate segmentation masks for gastric lesions. The proposed segmentation network adds residual blocks to the encoding and decoding path of U-Net. The cascaded dilated convolution is also added at the bottleneck of U-Net. The residual connection promotes information propagation, while dilated convolution integrates multi-scale context information. Meanwhile, a discriminator is used to distinguish the generated and real segmentation masks. The proposed discriminator is a Markov discriminator (Patch-GAN), which discriminates each [Formula see text] matrix in the image. In the process of network training, the adversary training mechanism is used to iteratively optimize the generator and the discriminator until they converge at the same time. The experimental results show that the dice, accuracy, and recall are 86.6%, 91.9%, and 87.3%, respectively. These metrics are significantly better than the existing models, which proves the effectiveness of this method and can meet the needs of clinical diagnosis and treatment.Throughout history, wildlife has been regarded as a major source of infectious diseases. Rodentia, the most speciose order of mammals, whose members are recognised hosts of more than 60 zoonotic diseases, represent a potential threat to human health. Recently, epidemiological data from Saudi Arabia indicated an actual growth in the number of emerging and/or re-emerging cases of several zoonoses. However, there is a lack of studies focusing on the molecular taxonomy of rodents and the pathogens they may harbour in this region. In this study, the first molecular characterisation of six rodent taxa in this region is provided, based on partial Cyt B and 16S genes. The data confirm the spread of rodent-associated C. burnetii strains in Jazan, southwestern Saudi Arabia. The PCR targeting IS111, the multi-copy transposase gene, revealed 17.5% (36/205) positive samples, whereas the second nested PCR, targeting the single-copy Com1 gene, revealed 16.6% (34/205) positive samples. Phylogenetic and network analyses indicated the presence of four haplotypes of C. burnetii within the studied localities. One major haplotype (H-2) was observed in all rodent species and from 18 localities. The infection rates of C. burnetii among studied species, localities and habitats were not significantly different (>0.05). Our results facilitate the assessment of the health risk associated with rodents and the development of strategies to control the increasing impacts of Q fever.During environmental testing, scientists face the problem of developing and designing a new type of sensor electrode with distinguished stability, high activity, and cost-effectiveness to detect acetaminophen (ACE). Density functional theory (DFT) calculations were used to investigate the interaction and electrical response of Zn-doped and pristine boron nitride nanocones (BNNCs) with and to ACE with the disclination angle of 240°. The adsorption energy for ACE in the Zn-doped was - 56.94 kJ.mol-1. This value for BNNCs was approximately - 26.11 kJ.mol-1. Furthermore, after the adsorption of ACE, the value of band gap (Eg) for Zn-doped BNNCs decreased significantly (from 4.01 to 3.10 eV), thereby increasing the electrical conductivity. However, Eg value of the pristine BNNCs decreased marginally after the adsorption of ACE. Compared with the pristine BNNCs, the Zn-doped BNNCs could be considered promising materials for the detection of ACE and could be employed in electronic sensors. In the Zn-doped BNNCs, the molecular and electrostatic interactions and the creation of Zn-O bond played key roles in the adsorption of ACE. The Zn-doped BNNCs had other merits such as slight recovery time which was approximately 7.09 ms for the desorption of ACE at ambient temperature.Significant anaerobic fermentation occurs in silage through the action of anaerobic bacteria. The objective of this study was to evaluate the effects of cellulase and Lactobacillus plantarum on the fermentation quality and bacterial community of whole-plant corn and peanut vine mixed silage. Mixed silage was tested with no addition (CK), addition of Lactobacillus plantarum (LP), addition of cellulase (CE), and the simultaneous addition of Lactobacillus plantarum and cellulase (LPCE). LPCE samples exhibited decreased pH; decreased content of acetic acid, propionic acid, and butyric acid; and increased content of lactic acid. LP and LPCE had better effects on chemical composition than CK and CE, especially in decreasing acid detergent fiber and neutral detergent fiber content. High-throughput sequencing identified Lactobacillus, Klebsiella, Serratia, and Weissella as the main microorganisms. LP and CE increased the abundance of Acetobacter, and LPCE decreased the abundance of Acetobacter. All additives decreased the abundance of Weissella, Leuconostoc, and Lactococcus, and increased the abundance of Pantoea. Overall, simultaneous addition of cellulase and Lactobacillus plantarum helped to improve the quality of mixed silage of whole-plant corn and peanut vines.
This review explores the subject of lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) in young men.

Young men (aged 39 or younger) can be affected by a variety of conditions that can cause LUTS. Approximately half of young men report LUTS. Storage or "irritative" voiding symptoms are nearly twice as common as "obstructive" symptoms in young men. Infectious or inflammatory causes such as prostatitis are the most common cause of LUTS in this age group, while other etiologies include urethral strictures, primary bladder neck obstruction, as well as neurogenic and non-neurogenic bladder dysfunction. A thorough clinical evaluation is critical for determining the correct diagnosis and directing the appropriate treatment plan. Young men experience lower urinary tract symptoms at relatively high rates. Clinical treatments range from behavioral therapy to medications and/or surgical interventions. Ambulatory urodynamics and wearable sensors may provide more accurate and real-world diagnostic assessment of bladder dysfunction inrld diagnostic assessment of bladder dysfunction in this relatively under-studied group. More study is needed to characterize the disease burden and impact in this specific group of patients.In the absence of efficient anti-viral medications, the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), stemming from severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus-2 (SARS CoV-2), has spawned a worldwide catastrophe and global emergency. Amidst several anti-viral targets of COVID-19, spike glycoprotein has been recognized as an essential target for the viral entry into the host cell. In the search of effective SARS CoV-2 inhibitors acting against spike glycoprotein, the virtual screening of 175,851 ligands from the 2020.1 Asinex BioDesign library has been performed using in silico tools like SiteMap analysis, pharmacophore-based screening, molecular docking using different levels of precision, such as high throughput virtual screening, standard precision and extra precision, followed by absorption, distribution, metabolism, excretion and toxicity analysis, and molecular dynamics (MD) simulation. Following a molecular docking study, seventeen molecules (with a docking score of less than - 6.0) were identified having the substantial interactions with the catalytic amino acid and nucleic acid residues of spike glycoprotein at the binding site. In investigations using MD simulations for 10 ns, the hit molecules (1 and 2) showed adequate compactness and uniqueness, as well as satisfactory stability. These computational research findings have offered a key starting point in the field of design and development of novel SARS CoV-2 entry inhibitors with appropriate drug likeliness.It has recently been proposed that the intermittent access (IntA) drug self-administration procedure better produces behavioral changes relevant to addiction than the long access (LgA) procedure. In this version of the IntA procedure, the drug is made available for a 5-min period during each half hour of a 6-h session. In contrast, on the LgA procedure, the drug is available continuously for 6 h. Previous studies have found that IntA drug self-administration produces greater drug motivation, measured by increased progressive ratio breakpoints, than LgA self-administration. It has been hypothesized that this effect is due to the rapid, "spiking" brain levels of the drug, and consequent neuroadaptations, experienced by rats during IntA sessions. However, no study has compared the effects of IntA versus LgA training on reinforcer motivation when using a non-drug reinforcer. The present study compared motivation for a saccharin reinforcer after IntA or LgA training. In Experiment 1, separate groups of rats lever-pressed for saccharin on the IntA or LgA procedures. In Experiment 2, a within-subjects design was used where rats pressed one lever on the IntA procedure and another lever on the LgA procedure for saccharin. In both experiments, IntA training produced greater breakpoints than LgA training. As no drug was used here, spiking drug levels could not have been responsible for the increased saccharin motivation observed after IntA training. Instead, it is proposed that differences in stimulus-reinforcer associations learned during IntA versus LgA training may be responsible for the effect. Future research is needed to determine the extent to which such learning factors may contribute to the increased motivation observed after IntA training with drug reinforcers.
